Clementine moves into the gap left by Nidintu and strikes a heroic-but-still-defensive pose on the body of a fallen assassin. “Avast, ye vermin! The cleaning crew has come for you!” He points his whip at the red-garbed invader to remove any confusion over who he is addressing.

Clementine hops out of the bed and makes his way to the hallway, stepping carefully beneath Nidintu-Bel's legs. "What's all this eh?" he quips to the stranger in front of him, hands on his hips with whip held in one. "And what's with that outfit? Don't you know black was totally last season?"

Clementine wanders back down the table to his empty seat, plucking raspberries and blueberries and strawberries and... cranberries? Interesting choice, but maybe they taste different to tall folk. And cloudberries and blackberries from their bowls to fill his own cup of cream. "I call it a mountain-berry," he quips to Linzi as he hops back to the bench. "Special fae secret recipe - don't tell anyone, or Grandpa Clove will sprinkle you with sawdust."

Clementine takes a bite of the boar’s candied apple, leaning nonchalantly against the cooked snout and assessing the situation here in the middle of the long table. Slowly, an idea sprouts, and he grins to himself.

“Catch!” A small piece of apple, carved into the rough shape of a sunflower, flies slowly through the air to the stoic, grim-faced warrior in a wide arc with plenty of time to react. Clementine, for his part, watches her reaction to the surprise and frivolity.

Clementine works slowly on a leg of duck, checking back in with Harrim every so often to see if the dwarf's tankard needs a refill or his plate a second helping. If he gets enough spice in his system, maybe he'll open up - one end or the other! He giggles to himself at the thought.

His attention drifts after a while though, landing on a very long wheat chopper - and the woman it belongs to. "Some more goose, ma'am?" he asks, hopping up onto the table for easy access to the platter. "It'll bring some color back into your cheeks - certainly has for mine, hah!"

Brief flashes of light and the barely-audible sound of effervescent wings fluttering pepper the dinner conversations as Clementine pops up to the table and back down to his seat with a handful of leaves or a single oiled walnut on his acorn cap. “I don’t know if I should ask for a booster seat or a place at the children’s table,” he quips to the grumpy-looking dwarf beside him. “What do you think?” He listens carefully to the response, coming up with leading questions in his head to keep Harrim talking.

Or he would, if his conversation partner wasn’t as expressive as a rock. Thankfully, Phoebe and Linzi are having a much more exciting discussion two chairs down. “That must have been one smart dandelion,” he adds with a grin, standing on the table between goblets. “The ones back home just talk like this.” He pulls his traveling plant out from behind his back, then pretends to talk to it. “Well howdy there folks! I like sunshine and rain and dirt and…”

Clementine arrives at the Green Thread only for the innkeeper to hand him his letter and point him in the direction of his departed colleagues. “Thank you ma’am - must’ve been the short legs that done did me in!” he quips around the envelope that occupies both his hands. “Yes, I’ll be sure to go find them. Yes, they can’t have gotten far. Many thanks!”

He tries to read as he walks, but after putting his foot through the gilded paper he decides to focus on one thing at a time. Carefully he puts the invitation back into its envelope. Carefully he sandwiches the envelope between his back and his pack. Carefully he surveys his surroundings…

…and finds himself in a field rather in town like he expected. Sweet peas, from the looks of it. “I don’t suppose you know the way to this… ah, one moment…” He excuses himself for a moment to a particularly green specimen to pluck the envelope back out and extract the letter. “…yes, there it is, thank you ever so much for waiting. A Madame Jamandi Aldori, I believe it is. Her estate, that is. Do you…? No? No worries, and my apologies for bothering you on this fine day.” He tips an imaginary cap to his imaginary conversation partner, then starts walking again.

Thankfully, all it takes is the word “Jamandi” to get a young shepherd to point him in the right direction. The same thing happens when the fairy boy meets a butcher, a baker, and a candlestick maker on the road. “Or maybe the tall folks call them chandlers now?” he wonders to himself as he crests a low (to someone with longer legs at least) hill.

And there, on the other side of the valley, he sees it. A proper little village, with some proper vegetation decorating it. And a long line of people heading towards it… “Haha! There they are!” He waves a few times, then shrugs when nobody in the brightly-colored island amid the sea of brown and grey coats waves back. “Too far away I suppose. Welp, nothing else to do for it then!” Whistling, he begins walking once more.

“…’Scues me…pardon…coming through…just slipping past you there… Aha, there you all are! What took you so long, eh?” Clementine grins cheekily, hands on his hips as he stands before the other members of the fae-pack.

Clementine arches his back and stretches, eyes still closed as if to hold onto that sweet summer dream for as long as possible. But eventually the lure of adventure is too strong for the tiny fairy, and his eyes pop open. The dusty brown of a dried leaf, propped up on a fat toadstool - a makeshift lean-to for one - fills his vision until he pulls himself off his back to sit up on his bedroll.

"Well that was certainly exciting," he tells a potted sprout as he rolls his traveling things into his bed. "Not every day a fundamental force of the First World invites you to join her pack, you know. I didn't even have time to shave!" He rubs his smooth chin with a cheeky grin, then grabs a few gills from the mushroom and starts using them to wrap up some nut butter and sliced cheese for breakfast.

"Alright, Cerise said to head for Restov. That's... probably that way." Clementine spins around and points in a random direction, then finishes packing up the rest of his things and starts marching. "And if not..." he adds to the sprout poking out the top of his pack, "Well, there'll probably be someone who knows a shortcut."

Clementine thinks about Grandpa Clove, about the spicy scent that follows the family matriarch everywhere and the feeling of home that smell evokes in his chest. He approaches the massive wolf and kneels, holding the sensation of that memory at the front of his mind in case Fanderay can also read minds.

“We’re right behind you - don’t give up! All for one, and one for all!” Clementine cheers, but also keeps his acorn cap raised just in case the dragon or dryad turn their attention his way.

Using One for All to Aid Kilava’s next skill check or attack roll - as long as the DC is 25 or less (usually 20, but GM can adjust if needed), Kilava gains a +2 bonus. If we are still in initiative, Clementine also has panache again.

Acrobatics vs Mitflit Reflex DC 17: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 (Success - panache on!)

Clementine lets the force of the larger fey’s sword push him to build some momentum, then cracks his whip to catch the Mitflit by the leg. Rather than pull it over, he uses his new anchor to swing himself between the legs of his attacker. A flick of his wrist releases the braided willow branch’s grip, leaving it ready to strike!

"Fascinating. I wouldn't suppose this was someone Cerise knows." Clementine's tone is incredibly neutral, as if the tiny fey were very purposefully not saying something that could be misinterpreted as a question. "Or that the timing is more than coincidental."

"My Lord!" Clementine rushes onto the stage with a winged helmet perched atop his head and a rolled-up piece of what was probably supposed to pass for parchment, but is clearly tree bark held in both hands like a log. "My Lord Prince Clanar! I bear a missive from Her Majesty Queen Trezibond, sealed with her ring and her kiss. She bid me return with your response post-haste!" Carefully he winds himself up, then heaves the "parchment" towards the elf's face. Or midsection - both being pretty far up there for the sprite.

Or perhaps it refers to some part of a great strategy between two opposing forces? Oh! I know!" He claps his hands delightedly. "It's a bunch of folks acting out a story! "Hmm, why?" A tiny sprite with auburn hair lies flat on the moss, leather jacket hanging half-open to expose his chest to the sky. "Is there something wrong with the food here? Does it turn you into a bird? Make you grow tentacles out your ears?" He rolls over and grins at the elf. "Or are you going for something more literal and think that the wine will make you blind? Relax. My folks come here all the time and always made it back for breakfast." He glances up at the waterfall-birds and shrugs. "Well, not here here, but close enough for horseshoes."

In a flash, transparent wings grow from the sprite's back and carry him to a crimson branch just slightly above the elf's eye level. "Oh, but where are my manners? Clementine, at your service." He holds a hand out for the elf to shake, cheerfully ignoring (or unaware of) the bobbing of his perch beneath him.

No complaints here Roots. Druid seems like a very appropriate class for this campaign and your character idea both. And given that Clementine is also a local of the area, I'd imagine he and Roots have run into each other multiple times and would probably know each other by the time this adventure starts. Maybe Farfadet met both of us at the same time?

Hello all! I was starting to fill out Clementine's stat block, but then I remembered GM Eldest's description of this campaign and how they wanted an adventure where solving problems without violence is encouraged. Unfortunately, barbarians don't tend to thrive in environments without (violent) enrichment. XD

But! I think I have a solution that doesn't change too much of Clementine's personality or backstory, and that's to shift to a swashbuckler. Still tiny, but with a whip rather than a polearm - and a plethora of skills better suited to non-combat activities. Also a much less angry personality, which really will be a bit less stressful to play.

If anyone was modifying their build with Clementine's previous class specifically in mind (or just really loved the idea and don't want to see it go), please let me know so we can discuss how we want to move forward. I should have this version blocked out later today barring any unforeseen accidents.
