About Clarence McFadden
The McFaddens have been the best farriers in the area for generations, and Clarence is no exception. Though he's not the brightest tool in the box nor the sharpest light in the harbor, his good temper and affection for all creatures of equine persuasion have earned him a special place in the hearts of the other locals.
When he's not working (which is all too often in recent times), Clarence spends a good deal of his time at the counter of the Bit o' Blarney, enjoying a nip of stout or whiskey "ta put a shine in me eyes".
Clarence's personal life is something of an unknown; he wears no rings, and he's never seen in the company of a woman. His nearest remaining relative is a brother, who lives in a spacious farmhouse with a wife and three children about a half-day's ride out of town.
In recent years, business has slowed down for Clarence as people adopt new-fangled means of transport and no longer require his services. He's been known to grumble now and again about the trouble that's going to come from such unconventional, untried nonsense, but no one's sure how serious his grumblings are.
