CIlla was born on a cattle farm on the prairie disc of Ingal. Both she and her older brother were trained in all aspects of the farm’s work, including mustering (where she discovered her love of horses) and basic veterinary medicine.
Accompanying stock to market gave Cilla a taste for life beyond the farm. As her parents grew older, more of the farm’s responsibilities fell to her and her brother, and she dreaded becoming tied to one place. Her brother was content to take over the farm and let Cilla come and go, knowing that he could not keep his headstrong sister at home if she wanted to leave.
Cilla’s travels took her across Ingal and other discs. She found that her affinity with animals seemed to extend to the new creatures she encountered in her travels. She grew to appreciate them in their many natural environments, not just as farm stock. However she had no hesitation in killing for food or self-defence, and became an adept hunter.
