BACKGROUND Born in Craddock about 50 years ago, Chiro had a privileged upbringing. His parents were one of the few dwarven families part of the World Order and the young dwarf was being groomed for greatness. His family’s wealth and influence had been brought with blood, that of their children. Chiro’s parents had given up their children over to the forces of Hell. Chiro’s older sister had been ‘married’ to a denizen of Hell and they had saved Chiro for a special ceremony. He was to be the embodiment of a devil. And it worked, the young boy became possessed by an evil entity and together they wreaked havoc on the world. Chiro has little memory of it all, more like flashbacks that torment his very being. He remembers burning innocent victims and also facilitating the possession of other dwarves like himself. His parents were very proud and rich. It all ended one day when the dwarf was asked to slowly roast a fallen angel. Chiro remembers laughing and burning off the angel’s wings to a crisp. When he was about to finish him off, a light beamed from the sky and exploded in his chest. When he woke up, the angel was gone but something had changed in the young dwarf. There seemed to be another spirit vying for control of his soul, a more caring spirit interested in healing others and healing the world. Chiro decried his family’s heritage and ventured on his own, urged by this new spirit. Knowing that the dwarf carried secrets better left hidden, the World Order chased Chiro, cornering him near his hometown. It was at that time that the dwarf realized that the hellish spirit had not left his body but was only being suppressed by the goodness now in his heart. However, when his base instincts kick in, it allows the flame spirit to unleash its destruction on the world. Chiro hopes he can control his innate evil to use it for furthering healing of this world. But he is afraid... PERSONALITY
As such he goes out of his way to not initiate combat or even raise his voice. He knows that every little emotion of fear or anger makes his flame spirit that much closer to being free. He’s slowly learning of his past and is disgusted at what he has done. He knows he is an evil man and only hopes to live long enough to be able to right the suffering he inflicted on others. Meeting people to the World Order makes him both afraid that they will discover him but also stirs feeling of destruction that he’s barely able to contain. DESCRIPTION
His most disturbing facet is the radiant light behind his eyes and the faint smell of smoke about him. When he uses the special abilities, a hungry spectral flame dances about his body. Chiro obtains the 'ring':
Chiro smiled, a sadistic grin in anticipation of joy. And it was more than just satisfaction for a job well done; he sincerely enjoyed what he had been doing for the past few months. He was lucky enough to be able to channel Hell’s spirit on the material plane. To be one of the Chosen of Ultruu was enough to make his chest almost explode with pride but to be able to vanquish Hell’s enemies was on another level altogether. The dwarf had become accustomed to channeling the all-cleansing flame of Hell on mortal enemies but to be granted the opportunity to burn an envoy from Heaven was an honor not to be taken lightly. His only regret was that his parents were not here to see this. His parents, who that had given their children to Hell in search of a better life. His parents, who had seen the light or rather the darkness coming to the land and had wisely chosen the winning side. At first, it was a matter of survival but as time went on, Chiro realized that it was more than survival; it was about thriving and leaving a legacy in this world where all that opposed the forces of Hell would be killed. Or cast into slavery, Hell’s forces here would need native denizens, both collaborators like his family and slaves. Now Chiro was well regarded by Ultruu’s faithful. His obvious power at housing and channeling Hell’s spirit was well known in the land. And the honor to torture and burn a denizen of Heaven was only given to selected few. Chiro entered the torture chamber exuding pride. The angel had already suffered plenty; his body bore the marks of torture, his face showed the hopelessness of the situation. But his eyes perked up when he saw Chiro. Like he recognized the dwarf. The angel mouthed what seemed to be a silent prayer that only Chiro could see. The dwarf was confused and his determination faltered as something inside of him seem to respond to the angel. The sound of rhythmic drumming and crackling flames in the torture chamber gave him back his confidence. He grinned and prepared to ply his trade. He started by slowly burning the angel’s wings. The angel writhed in pain to the glee of the few onlookers who commented on the dwarf’s skill. However, impure thoughts kept intruding on the dwarf’s head. ”You are not meant for this. You are much more than Hell’s tool. Listen to your real spirit.” Chiro looked at the devils and high ranking priests present of the World Order to see if anything was amiss but he only saw their sadistic joy at witnessing the angel’s pain. The dwarf tried to drown out the voices and redoubled his efforts, more wicked flame poured from his hands. Then, suddenly, a bright light blinded him and his head exploded or seemed to. The next thing he was aware of was being flat on the chamber’s stone floor. Although he could not move his head to see, he sensed that the devils and priests in the chamber were dead. The next thing he saw was the angel’s face; it took up all of his vision. The voice previously in his head was heard. ”You are not meant for this. You are much more than Hell’s tool. Listen to your real spirit.” The angel then pulled off a ring that no one had seen and showed it to Chiro. By all accounts, the dwarf should be expecting death but a deep sense of calm came over him. He felt no fear but rather relief, like something that had been bottled up was finally allowed to express itself. The angel spoke again as it slipped the ring on Chiro’s finger. It was difficult to determine whether Chiro heard his voice or just sensed the meaning. ”Go now. Leave this place. The ring will shield you while you leave and will then guide you forever more. But do not delay. You have been chosen...” |
