About Chip and Tune

Physical description:
Chip stands 5'8" and is generally seen wearing a set of smooth metal and plastic armor pieces colored blue, including a helmet with a visor for heads up display of his custom rig.
Tune is about 5' long and stands 3' high, and vaguely resembles a large metallic wolf painted red. Currently, Tune has two survival knives mounted in his mouth as weapons, like those of a sabre-toothed tiger.

Backstory:
Dr. Seamus Byrne was a deaf human robotics scientist. Throughout his life, he had used android slaves (well, workers paying off the debt of their creation) for various projects and expeditions throughout the Pact Worlds. During a mining operation on Akiton, Dr. Byrne was contacted by his team. They had been mining when two warring tribes started battling with grenades near the entrance, causing a collapse. Dr. Bryne ordered them to dig their way out, but his androids were split on whether to listen to him or not. Without discussing it with him, half of them began digging out, and the remaining half moved further into the caves to hide from the battle. The androids that dug their way out as ordered were completely destroyed in the crossfire of the battling tribes, and the battle spilled into the caves, destroying another quarter of them. When the hidden androids eventually made their way out safely and contacted Dr. Bryne, he was distraught and ashamed of himself for not putting their lives before his progress. He released his remaining androids from their servitude, and offered to hire them if they wished to continue working with him. Unsurprisingly, none of them took him up on his offer.

Dr. Bryne took up living on a spaceship near the android colony in Diaspora. He was both researching and assisting the androids in their attempts to gather asteroids for their planet. He grew lonely over time, as the androids were always wary of him, regardless of how much he assisted them. The doctor built a new android, with the intent of raising it like a child. He named the new android Chip.

Chip spent 12 years with the doctor, learning all about engineering, medicine, computers, and various forms of science. However, one day, while exploring the asteroids to find good candidates for the android colony to use for their planet, they ran into some pirates who were hiding some of their loot within an asteroid. The doctor acted quickly, shoving Chip into a escape pod and launching it before Chip could try to converse with him. The last Chip saw of him, he was signing "Take care of yourself. Live."

When he arrived at the android colony, he tried to convince someone to go out to help the doctor, but no one was willing to risk their safety. A few weeks later, Chip had modified the escape pod enough to travel around the asteroids, and he went back to find the doctor. All he found was the wreckage of his ship, and the cache that the pirates had been loading. There was hardly anything in it, but Chip took the cache and some salvaged parts from the ship back to the android colony, and used it to barter travel to Absalom Station.

Chip soon found himself joining the Exo-Guardians, feeling that he should have been able to do something about the pirates, and the doctor would not have been lost. Chip's physical capabilities were not that strong, though, so he created his own combat drone, Tune, to assist him. The two have spent about a year with the Exo-Guardians, protecting everyone that cannot protect themselves.
