A petite, Tian-Min tiefling dressed in a ragged (yet lovely) kimono shuffles into the room followed by a small red panda. Hello everyone!, she cheerfully raises a small sake bottle. Who wants to join in a toast? Chibiko pours for all who want some... the tiny bottle seeming to contain almost an endless supply of sake. She raises her cup, Here's to those of us abandoned by Li as she pursues her dreams of glory... may we all find homes harmonious to our dispositions.
She wipes her mouth with the back of her sleeve. I have no regrets... I've done all I can to support this "Lodge"... so I wish Li good luck and I hope she gets exactly what she wishes for. Chibiko's lip curls upwards as she contemplates her last statement. The red panda starts to chirp at her excitedly.
Yes, yes, Om. I will get to that next. She turns to address the assembled throng, I had purchased a vessel quite some time ago- using my influence within the Lodge... and now I plan to strike out toward the Shackles and make my fortune. Anyone interested in joining my... eclectic little band of treasure seekers?
Fromper wrote: I always wondered how that worked. Do they just go over and start sniffing each other's butts, or is there some other method? That's essentially it but it is still customary to at least buy drinks before hand and make small talk.
*finally* I can be released from my obligations to this "Lodge"... Aunty Mei is right- "cheer up, hah!". I think I will explore business opportunities with those Sczarni fellows now that I am no longer required to "step and fetch" in order to make a good impression to the Society.

Happy New Year, long life and prosperity (gp, XP, boons) to you!
I just bought one of these and it lists the bonus as being 1d4-1 caster levels... is that rolled for each time you do something requiring a caster level check?
Ok, you have all convinced me to stop drinking people's blood straight from their still-warm corpses... from now on, only with it mixed with vodka, a little tabasco, celery salt and pepper, over ice with a celery stick. Yums.
I really enjoyed the podcast. (Especially the IMP FROG!) Take a look at my profile if you want to see my Tian Tiefling Witch build and her familiar (re-skinned a little).

James Jacobs wrote: Spells with the Evil descriptor are evil; that's why they have that descriptor...casting alignment spells a lot will and should turn the caster toward that alignment[.] Gee, I cast this just because it comes naturally... I'm not the most conventional person (CN, tiefling witch) but my little familiar assures me it is ok for me to cast it. ^_^

I have prehensile hair and also took defensive combat training because one of our referees (not naming names) thinks grappling spell casters is the most fun thing to do in Pathfinder. I feel for the OP.

I know this got at least a few giggles...
DM: "He has a manor about ten miles outside of Katapesh. It will be an exotic, Asian-themed adventure."
Chibiko: "Waitaminute, I *am* an exotic, Asian-themed adventure!"

I first thought about having the bat hide in my cloak or something, but that could expose it to any attacks or adverse conditions being directed towards the wizard I think. Just have it fly up high? How have others done this? I worry about the day that the GM remembers my familiar actually exists- I don't utilize my familiar half as much as I could because I don't want it to be seen by my GM as a "tool" that can be "taken away". A couple of times I have gone as far as saying, "Ok foxy, go run and hide." at the start of combat.
The more you use your familiar to your advantage- taking an active role in the party, the more likely your GM will see it as something to be attacked/affected by adverse conditions. I treat mine as a living (and utterly cute) spellbook.

Well, *of course* I am going to keep that... Lady Blackros said it was ok. But now that you mention it, I need to not only get an armored kimino made for myself, but a cute little armored outfit for my familiar as well. :-P
Fromper wrote: What he meant about the +2 is that the total AC modifier will be +2. The 1180 cost is 30 gp base armor cost, 150 gp masterwork cost, and 1000 gp to upgrade it to +1 magic. Magic armor up to +1 is "always available" in Pathfinder Society.
And yeah, with an AC Check Penalty of 0 and Arcane Spell Failure of 0%, I guess anyone can wear it, even without proficiency, and there are no penalties.
Now I just have to find a tailor who can make me a nice little kimono like this and I will be set!

Hey there! ^_^ 5th level witch here.
I have Evil Eye, Flight and Slumber as my hexes currently. We just went on an adventure last night and Slumber effectively NERFed two encounters- saving us from fighting two higher level NPCs when they failed their saves.
After the game, I spoke with the DM asking if she thought I should drop Slumber as it was "so powerful" in ending those encounters... she said, "No, your hex wouldn't have worked on two of the prior encounters at all... and who says in the future that monsters won't make their save most of the time. Keep your hex ability, it's part of what makes your character special... failed saves are part of the mix, you just got lucky."

Um, I have some blood... although it's muddied somewhat with human ancestry. Let me figure out how much I want to charge for it. ^_^
Petty Alchemy wrote: I'd like to know why Cook People is considered a good hex, discounting alignment stuff. You get merely one buff for an hour of preparation, for a major hex? Feels week to me. mmmm... pastry... <drool>. I wish I could take this for organized play. "Gee, too bad about our fallen comrade... now, who wants turn-overs?!?"
(just kiddin folks) :-) (mostly)
Damn, wish I hadn't said "turnover" as now I am in inner conflict because at first I thought fruit turn-over and now that I thought about it realistically, all I can think of are pork empanadas.
@Viking Irishman: Thanks for the guide!
Because I tend to bring a couple of clay jugs full of cheap Tian plum wine along, having a few "Achemist's Friend" doses in my kit is helpful. I should probably be bringing a sharpening stone for Mash (the barbarian, see his post above) as well.
