I think I would have to recommend picking one more of them. I'm not sure I'm really gelling with the style of this game, and I think I would like to drop out. "Hmmm...." Chezarina tilts her head. It seems 'more arrows' will not solve this problem, not in time at least. She sets her bow aside and pulls out her, fishing line?

She runs towards the beings attempting to draw their attention to her rather than her comrades, before veering off at the last moment with a sudden burst of magical speed as her legs transform into strange clawed legs that dig into the ground with each hurried step.

Moving around and using Animal Aspect for 20 ft. of extra speed. During the move action, drawing her fishing kit. Intent was to just harass them with annoying fishing line to double extra make sure their intent is on her, but I don't think I have actions for that yet, so just drawing it now.

I will admit I definitely don't feel like I've found my footing yet. So much of the roleplay is about the setting, and I'm not sure I've 'gotten' it yet. I definitely don't feel able to step into a leadership role.

Chezarina plays it cool as Moon flies overhead. No matter how much it may unnerve her, it is simply not her way to show such things. Though, perhaps her bowstring was checked and rechecked far more times than was strictly necessary.

Chezarina is by no means able to maintain her detached demeanor when a flaming giant bird appears in the middle of a medical treatment, falling back flat on her back in surprise. She scrambles to recompose and dust herself off. Well, hopefully no one was looking at her while that- whatever that was- happened.

While she didn't consider herself unintelligent on a normal day, all the mystical endeavors of late had her feeling bewildered and overwhelmed. Even the children spoke of such things on these days!

All the talk of of Faces and Curses and Air that wasn't Air was a bit over Chezarina's head, but she figured it was simply the domain of those like Zephyr. Instead, she set about the work of preparing a place to rest, focusing on grounded physical concerns.

At the birds seeming approval, Chezarina had started to slowly approach. No reason to be quick and aggressive. This slowness and focusing on the birds had rendered her slow to notice Zephyr's approach.

She raises an eye at the sudden noises he makes but figures well, it must just be a Sylph thing, or a Zephyr thing, or perhaps both. She's shrugs as he takes over the negotiations, happy not to be in charge.

Chezarina spying the tree, drops low for a moment, setting her bow on her knee and pulling free her dagger. She cuts a small bit of white cloth from general utility rags, and wraps it around an arrow's shaft, before firing said arrow into the base of the tree.

If plain birds they be, this would not mean anything to them but disturbance. If more canny creatures they be, hopefully they would take it as a request for parley.

"You may call me Chezarina." She nods to the boy, letting Luu Sânh take the direction of the conversation. Far be it from Chezarina to deny Luu Sânh the burden of diverting the endless questions of children if she so desired it.

"If they hurt to look at, why do you look at them?" Chezarina is quick to whip back with another question, a smirk on her lips.

"Why not look at this instead? A friend gave this clever little stone to me. When it feels the heat from your hand, the way the light shines through it changes a little." Chezarina shows the stone she was playing with to the boy. It doesn't seem too different than any shiny quartz or other common crystal, but the colors inside do seem a little different. Perhaps. It was slight enough that maybe it was all just the belief of the observer.

Chezarina had little clue what was going on, save that many were likely dead. Many that it seemed Albert was close to.

For her own part, she knew she was not a great comforter, much better suited to volleys of arrows, and sat to the side, leaving time and space for those more suited to the task. She had just met him, and doubted he seek her counsel in matters of friends.

Pulling from her pack a small stone, she twirled it in her hand to pass the time.

Ah, sorry, didn't do it in a second post. It's kinda my habit to make a post one set of rolls at a time, and keep on editting as I learn whether I'm faster/slower/rolled any crits so on.

I believe I win the tie with the higher initiative modifier.

While the others make their way through single file, Chezarina pauses, and seeing the foe is upon them just in the nick of time, pulls forth four arrows with a single hand, and lets them fly one after another so quickly they could have all been fired in a single leap, if she had more room for acrobatics.

"To arms, those that have them, she's upon us!"

Her free hand hesitates by her quiver for a moment as she considers firing an arrow, but decides she can't know for sure how the barrier works. For all she knows, firing an arrow would pierce whatever magic sustained this tunnel, and she simply focuses on running faster, though keeping an eye out as best she can.

"I don't think anything good is to come between us and this- that said, I'm not sure we have an escape. The way this barrier is designed, the curve, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a full circle around Light. I presume Zephyr has attempted to see if it can simply be gone over. Which leaves us with perhaps under? Does anyone know of tunnels?"

Still, she takes as best a look as she can. Does this elen seem truly afflicted by madness, or are they simply judging by appearances? She's seen some haggard and harried faces that may seem aggressive at a surface glance. But she's also seen maddened Elens in Light.

Chezarina's brow furrows in confusion. Puzzles? "Well, there's two I'd love solved, if you're in the puzzling mood. How do we get out," she waved at the wall, "and who's behind the madness in Light."

A short tsk escapes from Chezarina's lips at Albert's story. "It seems you fared worse than I. I was only on the outskirts." Chezarina takes a few paces back and forth to think before answering Zephyr. "No trouble out here yet, but well, I wouldn't have thought it out of place with how things were at Light."

Sorry for the delay, lost my post on my laptop.

When Albert had first made himself known, Chezarina had been quick to set hands upon her bow and quiver, not raising them, but making sure they were at hand, as she kicked herself up to a standing position a moment later.

Standing, at first glance she could pass for a wilderness hunter, modest brown traveling clothes covered in the dust and earth of honest journeys. But her movement broke the illusion and showed them to be finery on the inside, golden and velvet highlights to accentuate her bronze skin and give some contrast to her relatively modest earthen toned hair for an Ifrit. Though she was not large, she carried herself with the bravado well known of her kin, a foot posed dramatically on a nearby rock to add a few inches of stature and dynamicism to her small frame.

"He looks tough enough to have survived the nonsense back at Light." Chezarina cricked her neck glancing around for other threats, but finding none, Zephyr not seeming as such to her biased eyes, she didn't raise arms yet.

"Indeed, Albert, we were just throwing a little party for two by the impassable wall, more and merrier with four around the fire." She waved for Zephyr to come down.

Chezarina over the past few days had started to be lax in her firekeeping, if only for want of something to do. As such a trail of smoke curled into the sky from her camp, occasionally wisping past the barrier and being dispersed.

Lying on her back on her bedroll, weapons to the side, Chezarina chucked pebbles past the barrier one by one to watch them pop.

If Albert kept his path, he would find the small camp near the barrier that Chezarina had set up in the downwind of a knoll

Okay, this is potentially the rest of my backstory, and a redo of the last sentence of my old one because I reread it and realized how silly it was despite being technically grammatically correct.

Makes some assumptions about Gem Magic, oreads being able to be Gemsoul oreads, and how the Court of Lies work, so if I've made any errors let me know.

Backstory:

Those who need brought to justice, and for whom the noble leaders of the city will pay great sums of money for.

Once Chezarina had made the beginnings of a name for herself in Light, she crossed paths with Kiyiyah, the wailing wolf. An Oread born with gems in his body, a soul of music and tales, and a disrespect for his Elder's authority. Kiyayah preferred to learn his tales straight from the Court of Lies rather than his elders, and also by swearing allegiance to them, safeguard himself from the Court of Gems.

Kiyayah's lack of regard for authority followed him as he made his way across Light to spread and learn new tales, and before long he found himself branded a minor criminal. Yet, with his fae magic he eluded capture time and time again in more extravagant escapes, soon he had a bounty placed on him, and Chezarina attempted to take it.

Yet, she did not have luck in such regards either, no matter how many times she chased him, she could never capture him, and oft their encounters were more a dance than chase. Still, eventually, the wanderer Kiyayah felt the need to move on from Light, and when he did, Chezarina followed. On the roads and in the wilderness, she encountered a sinister plot of an unscrupulous sorcerer to harvest the gems in Kiyayah's body for some mystical end, and Chezarina decided to temporarily join forces with Kiyayah to put a stop to the sorcerer. As part of this venture, she made a bargain of her own with the Court of Lies, and received the power to call upon the strength of animals.

Parting ways with Kiyayah on positive terms after the unknown sorcerer's plot was foiled at least for the time, Chezarina was conflicted as she made her way back to Light, but found a nightmare when she returned. There she met Thuàng Nê Luu Sânh and was forced to work together merely to survive.

So, I didn't realize about the Campaign Info Page, so I've been catching up on that.

Some questions/statements on the matter.

1. Chezarina's using a name of her own devising is a pretty big break from Ifrit culture from what I can tell, so I think I'm gonna move her to Chaotic Neutral if that's alright.

2. No Positive energy spells but also curing and restoration are common? Do curing spells call upon different energies depending on the caster now? So like, an Ifrit CLW potion would be charged with hearty flame or something?

3. Magic items said there were some restrictions? So, to quickly go over mine and make sure they're alright. Cloak of Resistance +1, +1 Studded Leather, and +1 Adaptive Composite Shortbow all seem within the Ifrit wheelhouse. Belt of Incredible Dexterity +2, Gloves of Reconnaissance, Boots of the Cat, Hat of Disguise, Lens of Detection, Headband of Wisdom +2, seem more like Sylph items as they are "misc"?

I was thinking about my character being away from Light on a hunt when things went down, and came back to find crazy town and was set on the wrong foot. If she met Slowdrifter's character during that situation, it'd indeed be a good idea to team up and could explain why we're together for the moment.

I think mechanically I'm ready to go save for one last question of "what's our attitude on magical item consumables". I've got 500ish gold left, and I'm wondering if I need to save 250 of it to chip in for the team CLW wand, or should have a pack of 3 CLW potions, just for emergencies, and so on.

For my second Favored Terrain, I was thinking about nabbing "Urban" favored terrain, as the bulk of her career is set in Light. You changed up the Hills/Mountains terrain a bit, so I figured I'd ask about this one as well.

I also need to pick my lesser Favored Enemy who is at +2, and was thinking that should either be Fey, or if her relationship with them turns out more friendly and less antagonistic, something related to the current opponents who are Elementals if you're still in the place Recruitment was talking about. Would that be a favored enemy type in this setting?

Also, would you be cool with me trading my Fire Affinity for Fire Resistance/Wildfire Heart so I can keep my default energy resistance? Fire in the Blood seems like another thing I would have to keep track of long term.

Hello! Still working on the finishing touches for my character, but hope to get that done over the weekend.
