Racial Traits:
Standard Racial Traits
• Ability Score Racial Traits: Halflings are nimble and strong-willed, but their small stature makes them weaker than other races. They gain +2 Dexterity, +2 Charisma, and –2 Strength.
• Size: Halflings are Small creatures and gain a +1 size bonus to their AC, a +1 size bonus on attack rolls, a –1 penalty to their CMB andCMD, and a +4 size bonus on Stealth checks.
• Base Speed (Slow Speed): Halflings have a base speed of 20 feet.
• Languages: Halflings begin play speaking Common and Halfling. Halflings with high Intelligence scores can choose from the following: Dwarven, Elven, Gnome, and Goblin. See the Linguistics skill page for more information about these languages.
Defense Racial Traits
• Fearless: Halflings receive a +2 racial bonus on all saving throws against fear. This bonus stacks with the bonus granted by halfling luck.
• Halfling Luck: Halflings receive a +1 racial bonus on all saving throws.
Feat and Skill Racial Traits
• Shiftless Halflings have a reputation for larceny and guile—and sometimes it's well deserved. Halflings with this racial trait gain a +2 racial bonus on Bluff and Sleight of Hand checks, and Sleight of Hand is always a class skill for them. This racial trait replaces sure-footed.
Offense Racial Traits
• Weapon Familiarity: Halflings are proficient with slings and treat any weapon with the word “halfling” in its name as a martial weapon.
Senses Racial Traits
• Keen Senses: Halflings receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception checks.
Class Abilities:
Sneak Attack +1d6
Trapfinding
A rogue adds 1/2 her level to Perception skill checks made to locate traps and to Disable Device skill checks (minimum +1). A rogue can use Disable Device to disarm magic traps.
Evasion (Ex)
At 2nd level and higher, a rogue can avoid even magical and unusual attacks with great agility. If she makes a successful Reflex saving throw against an attack that normally deals half damage on a successful save, she instead takes no damage. Evasion can be used only if the rogue is wearing light armor or no armor. A helpless rogue does not gain the benefit of evasion.

Background:
Charlie was born to a rather large, rather poor family of halflings. He doesn't talk much about his early life, usually saying he was "born somewhere in the middle of too many halflings." His father toiled 7 days a week trying to put food on the table, but there often just wasn't enough. Not the strongest, not the smartest, not the favorite, not even the retarded one, by the time he was old enough for independent thought, Charlie had little to do with his family. He's frankly not even sure if they noticed he left.
He started small, scrounging in refuse for something better than a bowl o' brown. Quickly he learned that if he kept around human dwellings, he was much harder to catch or even notice. He got caught (barely, he says) once by an experienced human thief who immediately saw his potential. It turned out the little fellow was also talented at using his little fingers to disable traps and locks. Soon, Charlie was on his way to becoming a professional thief himself. He worked with his mentor a few times, who introduced him to other occasional workers. They pulled off a few heists, nothing too serious, not enough to really get the law down on you.
However, of course, on one job it went sour. A guard that wasn't supposed to be on shift was, and Charlie saw no recourse but killing him. It wasn't the first time, and he didn't get aroused or anything, it was just part of the job. This time was different, though. The guard was the son of some high muckamuck jackass who raised a big stink, hired a "speak with the dead" spell (funny, no one ever did that for the poor guards, just this spoiled b&+%*) and a "scry" and the next thing Charlie knew, he was doing time.
Appearance:
Charlie is a decent-looking halfing for his age, at least when he's pretending not to be a sour a!#*&+!. Though he was never the talker on his crews, he admired the sheer charisma of the men who did it and picked up some tricks that, added to his early life conning in the house and on the streets, has made the thief more apt at manipulation than most "safecrackers." His hair is jet black and his eyes are a cool--cold, rather blue. He keeps his extremely snug leather armor nicely oiled and quiet, often wearing it under his street clothes. He tends to hide weapons all over himself "just in case," but the emphasis is on hidden.
It is rather disconcerting how quickly he can go from charming smile to murderous glare, or so some people would say if they were still alive.
