About Carmen Gabor

Carmen was born the sixth child in an already overcrowded family in the slums of Korvosa. Unable to support another mouth her mother left her at an orphanage where she spent her early years. Noticing her quick wits and nimble fingers the Matron sold her to Gaedren Lamm. Gaedren used her for spying, pick pocketing and, as she grew older, to snare smaller gangs so he could rob them blind.

It was Carmen who sowed the rumours of a big job which lured in Garren In the aftermath of the incident she confronted Gaedren, she had had enough of being used and he laughed in her face. That was the first time her magical abilities manifested. Frightened of what she might do he beat her unconscious and left her to die in an alley.

She was found by an elderly mage passing through Korvosa. He had seen the confrontation and recognised her as possessing a talent. He took her from the city and they travelled together to the Twilight Academy in Galduria. There Carmen learned more of the abilities she possessed, she learned to master the mysterious Harrow Deck and she learned that she was capable of far more than she had ever suspected.

When she graduated from the Twilight Academy she left Galduria and returned to Korvosa to find the man she betrayed. She spent many years criss crossing Varisia looking for Garran, stufying magic and learning all that she could. She hopes to make amends for her actions, even if she had little choice in what she did.

Carmen is a tall, thin, dark haired woman in her mid twenties. She dresses in long, flowing skirts of red silk and has an elaborate tattoo over one side of her face which causes her to often adopt a deep cowled hood or use magic to conceal her appearance.
