GM Rednal wrote: Nobody cares at all if you're merely creating artwork for personal use in your games. ^^ Now, if you wanted to sell products - "painted miniatures for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game" or something - you'd have a licensing concern. But drawing your own images for your own games, with no intention of profiting from it? You're fine. And of course you can show players stuff in books you own - that's one reason pictures are included in all the Bestiaries. ^^ Well, that's a relief. Now, my question is what if I were hired by a game shop to GM? I understand this is not actually a possibility yet, because surely there'd be someone more qualified than I at this point in time, but for future reference, if I am paid wages (or incrementally) to run games as a GM, may I print graphic images from the Pathfinder books? Also, what about Fantasy Grounds? I've briefly skimmed forum posts that mentioned running paid games (I believe it was actually the prohibition of such). If a GM charges money to run a game, isn't that considered financial gain or profitable?
I am an aspiring Player/Game Master. I was lucky enough to catch the Pathfinder Worldscape Bundle on HumbleBundle.com, but I've been busy enough since then, that I still haven't read through everything I have. Prior to purchasing this bundle, I had never even played a tabletop RPG in my life, yet I had played tons and tons of RPG video games. Since the purchase, I have participated in a few non-Pathfinder tabletop games at a local game shop. Anyhow, I have a few questions. I was wondering... if the Open Game License occurs between the comic content and the bonus game content (not at the beginning of the comic), is the comic content off limits? Also, after reading various threads on the internet about the OGL, I believe it is, and not only that, but also the images of NPCs and items strewn throughout the bonus game content. Am I correct? So, essentially, it's the text that a Game Master can reproduce, because that's where the game mechanics lie. However, no artwork, meaning 0 pictures of anything, be it NPCs, items, whatever the heck... what about maps? That's artwork. Yet... I guess they might fall under "game mechanics." What about the posters that were added in the "bonus content" zipped folders for the bundle? They seem to depict situations from the game content that wasn't actually included in the comic content. So then, if I want to be an enjoyable Game Master, may I create my own images (draw them myself) based on the textual game content? Ultimately, the OGL prohibits reproduction of the artwork, so if I'm pressed for time one month, may I show my players my copy of the book that contains artwork, as long as I don't make a copy of it?
Hello. I received my physical oneshots in the mail. They look awesome! I noticed something, though. On the Humble Bundle page for the bundle, there's a download link for the Pathfinder Worldscape Digital One-Shots Bonus Content, and in the zipped file, there is bonus content for the Pathfinder Worldscape John Carter oneshot (poster & map PDFs), but the actual comic is missing from the entire list of downloads there, it's not in our downloads on the official Paizo website and it wasn't included in our first shipment of physical items. Will it be included in the 2nd shipment with the miniatures? Edit: Nevermind, that's bonus content for the Warlord of Mars oneshot. I just hadn't made the connection. XD |
