Calnus grimaced at the failed attempt to conceal the stone, and listened to Mahu's words. He fumbled through his coin purse, which he found well-stocked. He was comfortable with his traveling gear and feeling generous. "If this is what we have to do... well, I can give 25 gold to this endeavor."

Oh, really? My mistake. I'm still very new to Golarion. Well, everyone disregard my previous post, then. Cal listened to veiled woman and smiled after he'd understood what she said. "I'm no lion," he answered her. "I didn't catch your name before. You're with us, right?"

"There is one tale I have that may interest you," Cal went on, "I'd been with the Lodge for a while and I'd told them I wanted to fight. Y'know, swords, shields, armor, all that. They put me in a cell with two tired, hungry, old wolves and told me to defend myself. When I asked my trainer if she was out of her mind, she told me, 'I need to see if you can crawl, before I teach you to walk.' I never forgave her for that... if you could have seen the way those wolves looked at me... but once I came out of that cell, she taught me a great deal about swordfighting."

"Well, I've really only ever been up here and down south in Andoran and the City at the Center of the World," Cal continued, "But I've just recently finished my training to be a Pathfinder at the Grand Lodge, so I'll finally be able to get out more and see the world." Phoooo, here goes nothing. Diplomacy: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

Knowledge Local: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 "I am coming home, Mahu," Calnus smiles convincingly, "after a long twenty years away." Calnus gave him the truth, even if it was only a fraction of it. Having nothing material to hide, and only those items he carried on his person, he simply followed any instructions given to him at this point in the inspection.

Calnus is uncharacteristically quiet as they begin their journey. The long outstretched miles of sand serve only to further unman him. To pass the time, he begins to ask anyone who will listen if they know anything about Old Cults operating in the region. He is clearly frightened of the notion.

Calnus had a bad feeling about all this. A tremendously bad feeling. He was unsure if his efforts to conceal his unease were successful, but he had committed to this. It was the only way he could learn anything about his history... gemstones filled with memories of Osirion's past. Maybe they could get him somewhere. "Okay," he began, "This Diamond Sage. You say you've traced him to Eto. Does his trail just end there? Or do we think the contact might be holding out on us? Do you have any idea what we should expect from the Diamond Sage himself? Will he be a friend or foe do you think?" Spoiler: Hey, you said lots of questions. ;)

A grin creeped over Calnus' features as he marveled at Mazon's description of the scorpion. "A magic scorpion... nice!" as Thanagar made his introduction, Calnus nodded respectfully. "Thanagar, I like your style. We're all here to stop evil, are we not? I hope so. I certainly am." He toyed with the crop of stubble on his chin thoughtfully as he moved around the room looking at his companions in turn. "So... where's everybody from?"

"And you, Badriyah," Calnus replied enthusiastically and quickly crossed the room to get a closer look at Rudolph, "I like your scorpion, Mazon. Does he know any tricks?" Calnus was anxious about being back in the desert. He couldn't quite remember why, but he knew he didn't like this place. But they'd told him this was his "home," and he'd wanted to come see it for so long... The young man had a complexion between sandy and bronze and his fashion a hodge-podge of cultural influences. Beneath locks of wavy brown hair, he wore a strip of deep red cloth tied around his forehead. Around his waist he wore a heavy, leather belt that bore the weight of a sheathed longsword with a red leather grip, many pouches filled with various tools and three alchemical flasks. More leather armored his chest with thick pauldrons over his shoulders, and lighter bracers over his forearms. More strips of red cloth were wrapped around his forearms and hands. His attire was decorated all over with charms and trinkets made of cord and wood, emblems of the sun and of small flames. In his eyes danced a fire stoked by some unearthly force, but his smile was friendly enough. "I'm so sorry, I forgot to introduce myself," he continued, "My name's Calnus. Calnus Elazul."

The archetype must show up on the Additional Resources list. Gotcha. Well, that means I MUST change Calnus' build anyway, which is fine. I do own Ultimate Combat, so I WILL be going with the Dervish Dancer Bard. No big deal. I'll play with the build tomorrow, and I'll see you guys on Saturday!
Curaigh wrote: What book is Dervish of Dawn? (do you have a copy?) I do not have it & the only one I see online is from a 3PP which is not PFS legal. Ah, no, it's from Pathfinder Player Companion: Inner Sea Primer. I do not have a copy of it myself. Quote: Thanks for the link I will check it out tomorrow. :) Thank you!
Yes, although, the Rapid Attack I am talking about is from Dervish of Dawn it's the same ability. Sure, the thread I started about it previously was here. My argument was that if Rapid Attack can work with Haste, then it should work with Whirlwind Attack. Since, when using Haste, you have two attacks at your highest attack bonus it creates a similar situation to the Whirlwind Attack situation where all of your attacks are at your highest attack bonus. If Rapid Attack only subtracts one of attacks when you use Haste, then it should work similarly with Whirlwind Attack. I just thought it would be a cool high-level trick to pull if it worked that way. If that's not how PFS wants to go with it, no big deal, it won't hurt my character concept to build toward some other nifty trick.
Oh, hey, I have a question I forgot to ask you. For PFS, how does Whirlwind Attack interact with Rapid Attack? I started a thread in Rules Discussion, but I got two different interpretations. I had planned my build around the thought that I could combine Whirlwind Attack w/Rapid Attack to do a moving Whirlwind Attack, attacking all foes adjacent to me as I move (like Diablo Barbarians), but I wouldn't start taking Whirlwind Attack prerequisites until 4th level, so there's plenty of time for me to plan out a new build. Oh, and one other thing. Crafting is not allowed in PFS, correct? So, am I also correct in assuming that custom magic items are not allowed either? |
