Congratulations for those who were accepted and good luck with your games SdF. I'll keep an eye out for Tikael as well or any others doing serpent skull. SdF also please consider Calinder as an alternate if things don't go according to plan.

Sdf: my characters feats are finalised and I only have the gold and equipment to finish.

character mostly done. still weighing up feat choice and yet to finalise equipment and money (assuming average as posted earlier = 140gp)

I've decided on the Inquisitor but still to make up my mind if Fire domain or healing. As its getting quite late here I'll have to work on the stats tomorrow. Also noticed there doesn't seem to be starting gold on pfsrd for the base classes.

I would really like to avoid anything from 3.0 or 3.5. Especially something big enough to allow a class to have Full BAB and Full Spellcasting.

Nothing in the APG even comes close to this sort of power-shift.

Might I recommend the new Inquisitor or perhaps a Oracle of the Battle mystery?

Either of those sound fine as the character background and personality is the main focus for this character. I will review both types and adjust accordingly.

bump

Quickly ducking before ascending the stairs Cal whispers to Lecian behind him Carefull you don't bump your head on the way up.

stepping back out the kitchen to join Lecian, Calinder says in a hushed voice. Okay, lets get up there and see whats really going on. We might have to put down a dog by the sound of it too. He quickly casts guidance on both himself and Lecian before they head up the stairs Lecian found. We must be quick, Sarenraes guiding gift is powerfull but all too brief.

What in Sarenraes name are you doing woman. You should be preparing meals for these poor retches, not making stinking gin and keeping them in this cesspool forever away from the dawnlights morning kiss Cal says, berating her. He continues With the proper treatment these people could be productive members of Riddleport and not layed up here like some flotsam the seas thrown up. Where is your compassion woman?

Intimidate at first then Diplomacy followed by sense motive to guage her true feelings. 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 141d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 251d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

I agree Lecian, let's go have another chat with this so called priest. With that Cal will head downstairs again to confront the priest telling him, come clean about whats really going on here, why are there dogs locked upstairs and who's been sleeping up there, who are you protecting. He'll study the guy closely, his mannerisms and responses and try to work out what he's hiding. Insight 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

So old man, who did we spy upstairs as we came in? Would that be the "kind" donations you speak of? Turning to Lecian he says I think we should investigate upstairs but we should be prepared for a fight. After hearing the priest out he heads to the stairs {guessing around number 5 on map} ready to go up if Lecian is.

And you have a lot to answer for, letting the Dawn Lights name be sullied in this manner. But we shall address that later, first we shall deal with the thief, Calinder say stepping forth and menacing the old priest.

Quote:
This is the closest we have to a home, masters says the cripple. If I still had my legs, I'd still be called Fierce Ukkar and would be a rich adventurer. But this is all I have. Father Padrick feeds us, teaches the goodnes of Sarenrae and gives us a roof. Whenever he's not too drunk at least... Yeah, I've seen some violent looking individuals from time to time. They mostly keep to the top floor and I pay no mind. If I had my legs I would kick them out on their butts! But I'm a cripple and a beggar, and I can do nothing.

Calinders face changes to a look of disgust as he inspects the room, to think that a man of my own faith can consign these wretches to this squallor. I must redress this travesty. Where is this so called priest, Padrick? Moving through the room he looks at the state of the occupants and their belongings. Picking up a moldering blanket he drops it shortly after and wiping his hands utters This will not do.

Turning back to the cripple Cal says Fierce Ukkar, I promise you things will change here. Sarenrae does not forget her children and the dawn light is near. As he says this he casts light on his holy symbol and brandishes it aloft for all to see. Diplomacy: + maybe a circustance bonus for the light show theatrics hopefully 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

After moving amongst the people offering encouragement he reingages Ukkar, These thugs you speak of wouldn't happen to be led by a man they call the Beggar King, would they and is there anything else you can tell us about them.

just beside Lecian, Calinder presses a silver piece into the beggars hand after Lecians question.

Cal follows Lecian then politely opens the door for the legless man to enter the building while commenting I was not aware that services were still held here. Who is the current priest?

Casting a glance down at his clanking armour, Cal then looks up at Lecian and says Well, I'm not built for scouting per se. Let's just see who's home eh. He strides up to the front door looking this way and that to get the lay of the land.

Perception to spot anything interesting and Religion to know who this St. Caspieran is. 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 1 = 171d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Well Lecian, there's no time like the present. Let's pay this beggar king a visit, but be on the lookout for his cronies. To the street rats he says Don't worry kids, we'll sort this problem out, you go and let our friends know where we've gone. With that Cal heads with Lecian if agreeable to the old church.

Yes, I think this beggar king needs to be taught a lesson with rearing children and the proper respect for hallowed ground. Shall we go alone or do we call for the others. Cal will ask some of the injured kids while tending their wounds (ie: stabilize and heal skill take 10) if they can remember how big a gang the beggar king has and the general layout of his hideout and if he has anyone on watch for threats. Also what time of day is quietest to confront him.

Diplomacy for the information + I hope a bonus for the healing: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Based on the two rolls as well as other inducements Cals vote is for Ushari to be floor manager but Urza would make a good assistant manager when she's otherwise engaged.

After the all too brief hug Cal brushes his lips to her hand and in a hushed voice says Dear Ushari, your wish is my command.

To the others he says, Yes, i'm not sure about Smeed either. That cloak seems to be the only link. Cal looks thoughtfull for a minute then adds Did we ever see a curved dagger at his place? Because I was thinking that wrapped in a cloak at night that Gorilla could pass for a large man and i've seen pet monkeys down by the docks grasp and use implements quite well if trained.

Smiling mischievously at Ushari Cal says Your more than welcome to have the job of floor Manager and I'd take great pleasure in working under you. I'd be happy to show you later if you'd like? After her latest tune he applauds with great gusto Ushari, your voice is music to my ears.

Cal is fully forthcoming about the ledger but doesn't mention anything about Sauls debt till he has the party alone then broaches the subject With that kind of money on the line I don't think Zinchers just going to give up especially with how well the Goblin is doing these days. Come to think of it, that'd be why he strode in here the other day like he owned the place.

As they discuss their plans regarding Zincher he comes up with Nalia, we could see if we can get some of the street rats to dicreetly keep an eye out on Zincher's gangs movements.

Cal just intends on doing his concierge job this week and finding out more about zincher. Diplomacy for concierge: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

Diplomacy for gathering info about Zincher and hopefully with some aid from the street rats 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

After a thorough going over with one of the serving girls checking his wounds, Cal eventually gets round to inspecting the papers.

I'm back, hope everyone had a great easter. Pol I have no idea what skills are required if any for this but Cal will be taking 20 or the equivalent? Also what xp progression are we using as cal has more than 1000xp?

Pol, please see ooc thread

Pol, I won’t have net access from the 1st till approximately the 7th. Please feel free to DMPC Calinder till then.

Calinder hands the papers over after explaining the cause of death, I'll take a look at those also back at the Goblin. We should indeed get back but first we cannot leave this man this way. I will aid his journey to the afterlife. He then proceeds to administer last rites according to the tenets of Sarenrae. Laying him upon the floor and shrouding him in a sheet from the bed. He works quickly and takes no more than 5 minutes.

Cal puts the papers safely away so he can study them back at the Gold Goblin, then checks the body over in case it wasn't just our attacks that killed him.

Pol, in a previous post I said i'd stabilise him if he was dying before I went to Lecians aid, so under the circumstances I can only presume that he wasn't on deaths door when we started questioning him so my heal check is for an exact cause of death. 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

Standing within sight as Nalia decapitates the gorilla Calinder says thats disgusting Nails, please tell me your not keeping that, anyway just keep it away from my room at least. He then heads upstairs shaking his head and joins everyone else gathered around Smeed

If smeeds still alive cal menaces him at sword point. We've got some questions for you Smeed, so don't try anything and we'll get along fine. If he's dying Cal will stay to cast stabilize on him before casting a glance back down the stairs. Can someone please get up here and watch over Smeed, Lecian needs my help. If someone comes up Calinder heads straight back to Lecian and casts cure lt wounds replace detect evil 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Lecian, take cover. I'll be back to help soon, Calinder calls as he goes past him.

Cal moves South then southeast then two squares east to end up diagonally adjacent to the bottom of the stairs. If the attacker is in reach he strikes with scimitar otherwise 2nd move to bring him into melee. for next Attack:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 241d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
confirm crit:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 191d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Cal thinks he sees an opening and lunges at the gorillas flank. Unfortunately Nalias move hasn't attracted enough of the creatures attention but he strikes as well as he can.

attack with scimitar 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 141d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

would you look at that, cunningly disguised under the tag "Map". Sorry Pol, don't know how I missed it

It's also good to see how we're all working with great team work. We all miss together ;) and even if we do hit it's minimum damage all round, yay team, we rock.

Pol, any chance of getting a map update? I'm trying to work out the gorillas new location. Also did we see the gorilla have a 10' reach? Also has Cal seen whether the gorilla is shackled at all?

Cal steps forward to slash at the gorilla and checking to see if it's tied. If so he says let's just get out of this things way, it's not why we're here.

Scimitar attack:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 91d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Cal moves cautiously into the room while drawing his scimitar and hoping to Sarenrae that the thing is chained to the floor. Taking cover at the door he readies an attack if it comes any closer. Nice an easy now, please, please, please don't be loose!!!! Cal says almost pleading.

move 2 squares south and 1 diagonally southeast. Use doorway for cover and ready an attack.

uh-oh, wasn't expecting that Cal grunts in surprise as he halts his advance desperately.

initiative: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4

Muscle it is then, Cal says as he shoulder charges the door.

anyone assisting? 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

Looks like the backs our best option, any chance we could do this without damaging the door he says as he gets ready to put his shoulder to it.

There's someone on the top floor Cal says as he spots them. After scouting the area he tries opening the back door then lets everyone know about what he's found.

Perturbed at the locked door Cal briefly listens then knocks loudly. If theres no answer after a time he has a quick scout around the building for another way in. Well thats odd, bit hard to pay your debt when you can't get in, he mumbles.

Perception to listen, then perception for scouting the building: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 191d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

My Bad, so Smeed was the last to see him. Then we need to know if Smeed got paid and if he noticed anything unusual. We also can try to see if he knows more than he's letting on.

Right, right, sorry Urza I forgot. Well, we don't want to keep the man waiting now do we. With that Calinder ambles up to the building and opens the door and heads inside, holding the door open politely for everyone else.

Good idea, if we can catch him in a lie would be best. So what we know is Larus dissapeared 2 days ago in a struggle and was knifed several times in the alley by a large man with a black scarf covering his features. If we tell Smeed we're just following up to make sure Larus paid his debt and not let on that he's missing then we may get some kind of reaction from him, Cal muses trying to come up with some kind of plan.

if anyones got training in survival you may have more luck than me as the highest I can get for tracking is 10 regardless of how high I roll.

At this point the trail runs cold for me, seems like our only option is to try Smeed, Cal says obviously dissapointed at his failure to follow the trail and worried about Larus.

Well that doesn't sound good at all Cal says as he starts helping Ushari try to follow a blood trail.

Take 20 on perception to find a trail = 25 then Survival (not trained)to follow:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

Yes, Smeeds probably the next choice, Calinder says as he starts back out then as he reaches the street Hang on a minute, I have an idea.

He heads over to a small group of kids on a sidestreet. Holding up 2 gp he calls to them Hey you kids, you wouldn't happen to have seen anything strange happening around here the last couple of days?

Diplomacy roll to gather information from the area and I spend a minimum of 2gp boosting my efforts 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

Yes friend, Larus is his name. He was living here two days ago. Do you have any idea where he may be. Cal says following along with Usharis line of questioning.

Assist Ushari with diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

How about direct and to the point. Nails do you want to give me a hand bashing this door open. After all we've got a legitimate concern over stolen money.

Cal will actually assist Nalia to open the door if she's willing. Strength roll in case we go ahead: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 must be a tougher door than I thought.

Taking Ushari's advice, Cal waits at the entrance ready to come to her aid at a moments notice.

I'm good with feet even though here in OZ we're decimal but almost everyone rpg's and wargames in imperial. Also 3m = 10ft is a good enough approximation.

before we get there. I would love to offer my assistance to a lady in need. However donning my own armour might defeat the urgency required so I find we are both in need, Cal says as he brings his Scale mail out and starts to put it on.

After we arrive. Well as much as it pains me to say, I'm not known for my light step so Ushari please, by all means proceed. Cal will give Ushari a 1 round head start before following. 2nd or 3rd in marching orders fine

Urza, sorry I hadn't thought of the kids anonymity. Your right we should maybe take food and payment to them regularly to keep things quieter.

Yes, I'm not happy you kept this from us Saul, but Lecians right we should move past it and find Larus first. How about we go to his place first.

Ushari, we've had pretty decent dealings with Clegg when he came here last week so I suggest we tread lightly at first with him till we know exactly where we stand with him and what hand he's had in this if any.

Cal insists that the street urchins come to the gold goblin each day to be decently fed on top of the regular payments. I'm sure these kids will want to keep their independence but at least we can feed them.

When Saul approaches them he's immediately attentive. Yes Saul, tell us, how much has gone missing. Do you have any idea where he might have gone, not to that crime boss we had in the other day. I hope he didn't owe him money. He says with obvious concern.
