About Calabron Furore

Spoiler:
Calabron was born to one of several holy prostitutes of the House of the Silken Veil, a temple of Calistria located in the city of Riddleport. As a child of the temple, his primary duties included selling various poisons to the Veil's patrons and caring for the site's guardian wasps. Constantly surrounded by celebrants of a goddess of lust and vengeance, in short order he grew too disenfranchised with the activities of those around him to walk the path of a cleric himself. When he was strong enough to bear the weight of a weapon, he began training as a temple guardsman.

The youth's mother sought a greater fate for her son than that of a simple warrior. In his sixteenth year she revealed to him that his father was none other than the leader of the Order of Cyphers, Elias Tammerhawk. She further told Calabron that his father knew of his existence, but couldn't care less; she hoped to inspire anger in her son, a need for vengeance that would lead him to freely walk the path of her goddess. Her attempts failed.

The revelation of his father's identity came of no surprise to Calabron. He may not have known his father's name, but that wasn't important to the youth. He had long suspected the man was a spellcaster of significant ability; he possessed a natural affinity for magic, more so than could be accounted for by being the son of a cleric of his mother's skill. And while he did not feel the need for vengeance toward Tammerhawk that his mother had hoped for, it did provide him the motivation necessary to leave his guard training behind him and begin exploring his magical ability.

Though he didn't care to be associated with the man he had been told was his father, Calabron used the name Tammerhawk for a short while to obtain a tutor. A wizard of less than spectacular ability, hoping to impress the Speaker and secure a position in the Order of Cyphers, quickly took to training the youth. That the young man tapped into sorcerous rather than scholarly magic mattered little, until Calabron's tutor learned that his efforts were in vain. If anything, teaching the boy would put him even further out of favor with the Order's leadership than he already was.

Abandoned by his teacher, Calabron has found himself alone on the streets of Riddleport. Though hardly out of resources, the young sorcerer also finds himself lacking the funds needed to survive while continuing his training. He has arranged to attend the gambling tournament at the Golden Goblin in the hopes of catching the owner's eye and obtaining a regular job at the establishment.
