Class Features:
Weapon and Armor Proficiency
Paladins are proficient with all simple and martial weapons, with all types of armor (heavy, medium, and light), and with shields (except tower shields).
Aura of Good (Ex)
The power of a paladin’s aura of good (see the detect good spell) is equal to her paladin level.
Detect Evil (Sp)
At will, a paladin can use detect evil, as the spell. A paladin can, as a move action, concentrate on a single item or individual within 60 feet and determine if it is evil, learning the strength of its aura as if having studied it for 3 rounds. While focusing on one individual or object, the paladin does not detect evil in any other object or individual within range.
Smite Evil (Su)
Once per day, a paladin can call out to the powers of good to aid her in her struggle against evil. As a swift action, the paladin chooses one target within sight to smite. If this target is evil, the paladin adds her Cha bonus (if any) to her attack rolls and adds her paladin level to all damage rolls made against the target of her smite. If the target of smite evil is an outsider with the evil subtype, an evil-aligned dragon, or an undead creature, the bonus to damage on the first successful attack increases to 2 points of damage per level the paladin possesses. Regardless of the target, smite evil attacks automatically bypass any DR the creature might possess.

In addition, while smite evil is in effect, the paladin gains a deflection bonus equal to her Charisma modifier (if any) to her AC against attacks made by the target of the smite. If the paladin targets a creature that is not evil, the smite is wasted with no effect.

The smite evil effect remains until the target of the smite is dead or the next time the paladin rests and regains her uses of this ability. At 4th level, and at every three levels thereafter, the paladin may smite evil one additional time per day, as indicated on Table: Paladin, to a maximum of seven times per day at 19th level.

Backstory:
Cado Anghel was born to Shana and Daco Anghel at Diamond Lake. Both parents were shocked to see such a healthy looking boy with such radiant eyes. Velias Childramun, who assisted in the birth, marveled at the sight of a aasimar being born. Daco slapped his head. His great-grandmother used to tell tales of other aasimar in the family before she was born. Cado was a renaissance of that celestial bloodline. Once baby Cado was old enough, Shana would care her baby into town. The townfolk were enraptured by the boy's beauty and celestial claim.

As he grew, Cado's good looks drew envy and jealousy from Diamond Lake's 'Good Boy'. The young child often got into fights, during which it was discovered Cado's blood turned silver when exposed to air, drawing more ire from his tormentors. When he wasn't outnumbered, Cado gave a good as he got. This undue attention from the children of Diamond Lake was a cause for worry from Daco and Shana. Velias Childramun say this treatment, and offered to mentor the aasimar, keeping him inside the garrison for the most part. Both parents agreed relieved. The older Iomedaean would teach Cado about The Inheritor's many tenets, while the boy was able to practice swordsmanship with the city guard. This 'special treatment' made Cado's detractors even more envious.

Years pass, and Cado was getting close to miner age. Velias came to Daco and Shana to offer Cado a new life. The older Iomedaean had connections with the Inheritor's churches in Molthune. There, Cado would be mentored under a paladin and fulfill his promise to become a Warrior of Good. Teary-eyed but grateful, Cado was sent away to another land, away from the dismay life of a miner. Cado cried as he hugged his mother and father goodbye.

That was 15 years ago, Iomedaean Knight Cado Anghel has returned to Diamond Lake to visit the grave of his parents. His father died in a mining accident, while his mother died two weeks later from illness, or a broken heart.

Diamond Lake's 'Good Boy' has returned, whether Diamond Lake likes it or not.
