About Brondulf Iarlsson

Bitter Ulfen guard for Pathfinder missions.
"Don't call me a Pathfinder. I ain't no Pathfinder. But I do need coin."

A letter found on the floor the common sleeping room:

Moonday, 19 Arodus 4719

Dear Clara:

I am writing to you from Absalom, the so-called City at the Center of the World. Bah. It is a dungheap full of fools, goblins, and itinerant skalds, all of whom are trying to touch that fancy Godstone at the temple at the center of this stupid city.

This letter includes your fancy locket. An arcanist I hired helped me unlock it. It radiated something he called "divination" magic. No not "talk to the gods" stuff, but like "finding stuff" magic. When opened, it constantly shines a map upon whatever surface it is pointed at. Try it! To open, you must say the words "Rumbledypump" without smiling. If you laugh, it won't open.

Yes, it's a treasure map. I'm sure of it. Note the little stars that glow. Sometimes the map changes, but the stars always remain in the same spots. Don't worry, little sister. I had it tattooed on my chest, to ensure I'll always be able to follow it to the treasure. Don't tell anybody. I'm sure somebody in this crap-city would skin me alive for it if they knew. And I've taken the precaution of writing this in Skald. So few here know it, I'm sure it will be safe from the common thugs.

I've also included a few gold pieces. Spend them wisely. Not many are forthcoming. The damned Archeologist/Attention Whore Society doesn't pay its guards well. For all the treasures THEY find, you'd think the pay would be better protecting their smarty-pants book-type agents in the field. I wish I was back in Halgrim where White Estrid pays every man a share of the raid, not some pittance wage.

Until We Meet Again,
Your Brother, Bronnie

p.s. Tell our brother to take care of himself and stop the fools errand of finding the linnorm who killed mum and dad. They tried. They died. That's how it goes. His hatred will only get him eaten, too.

A second letter, torn in two pieces, hidden in Brondulf's cloak:

31 Pharast 4718

To Brondulf Iarlsson:

It is my unfortunate duty to tell you that your sister Clara and brother Gord both perished when Her Majesty's pet found them wandering in the woods near its abode. A memorial was held by your village folk. There was nothing to bury or use in a resurrection. Her Majesty, White Estrid, King of Halgrim, sends her regrets.

On behalf of Her Majesty,
Durl Geviksson, court scribe
