Early Upbringing:
Growing more up at his uncle Haphor, Brick was taken under the wings and able to learn how to keep an eye on people; who was trouble, who was a guard, friends, unstable people and who knew a good deal. That might be a weird thing to learn a kid, but what was less known by Brick's mother, was that Haphor ran quite the smuggler buisness from his Inn.
With the mother, Anna, oblivious to the smuggling, the fact that the father was a thief himself and being sick, she appreciated the fact that the dad's brother was so helpful with the raising of such a young kid. She was oblivious in life and all the way until her death after 10 years from Brick's birth.
Promised a spot in the Guild, Brick was trained to become an enforcer, a role he naturally fell into as he grew bigger and gained brawn through the age. Showing no particular skill in anything they had some trouble finding out what he actually could. He was okay with swinging any weapon they could find for him, but Brick had a bad habit of walking too close to those he fought and try to push them out of balance.
As the years grew longer, the guild people got less interested in Brick. He could at best become a thug for some of the lesser officiers in the city. He certainly didn't have the flair for stealth and skill as his dad had shown. Hearing that, an old friend of Haphor decided to help Brick out. Maeltheron was a long timer in the Guild and make it a promise to Haphor that he would make sure Brick didn't just end up living like some useless scape-goat.
Brick and Maeltheron became quite the odd pair of friends. The old elf with the experience 15 times that of Brick, while Brick had the muscle to break the neck on Maeltheron. What the others who had trained Brick had forgot to add in, was that Brick wasn't just a chip of his dad, he had never met the man nor did he wish to. Adding to that, Maeltheron told Brick of this old weapon his dad had stolen from some Merchant. After his dad had stolen it, he had been grabbed by some guards who had been thinking that if the bribe had been that high, then the money from the heist was worth even more. Running from the guards, his dad had lost the sword and it was now in a ware house. The bribed guards hadn't sold it convinced that it was worth more than what the sellers told them.
Spurred on by the story, Brick and Maeltheron broke into the warehouse to get the sword back. By some weird magic it hadn't rusted and it certainly didn't look like a regular sword. With the bulky grip, the wider than usual blade and the almost fist-sized bulb of iron in the bottom made it a weird weapon, but Brick gripped it with fierce determination and is wielding it to this day. Sticking to Maeltheron and thaught what needed to be learnt in order to become a good enforcer, Brick grew into the enforcer he is today.
Chaos in the Guild:
In the weeks that has build up to the growing distress of the Thieves guild, Brick has been working on a job with Maeltheron. The job was fairly straight forward; just a matter of gripping some precious stones from a delivery boy. The fact that they had hired some bodyguards made it only a tad harder.
As they returned to the city, Haphor told them that something big was going on at the guild. Whispers had grown too loud to be ignored, guards had been too much around and asking questions and not enough guildmembers had been at The Minotaurs Head. Having to report in anyways, they procced to the safe house.
Walking through the streets, Brick is not blind to the many outsiders that seem to circle around the area of the safe house. "Outsiders" might have been a harsh word, seeing as they were city dwellers, but these people didn't belong in this area, they were... too much. It was hard to explain, but Brick didn't find himself at ease like he usually did. As he prepares himself for a fight, he is scarecly surprised to notice the dagger Maeltheron has out. He knew as well, but they had to report back, if nothing else to know what was going on.
Arriving, they have barely heard the 3rd "It is good to see you", before the there is a small explosion. The chaos that follows is that of a small war; people shouting, blood spilled, weapon out, magic and fire flung around with the hate tangible.
Taking the blow from some kind of invisible force, Brick is thrown backwards and smacked into the wall. Gripping his side Brick knew that he had broken more than one rib, but he had to help, otherwise he knew he wouldn't survive. Maeltheron had umped straight into the face of the mage who had blasted Brick into the wall and was standing over his corpse. Slamming another mage into the wall, Brick was happy to see his sword lodged into the chest of the now dead man.
"GO! Get the hell out of here!" Shouting at him, Brick was guided out through one of the safe routes, but at the exit, Brick turned around, trying to pull Maeltheron with him. Smiling, Maeltheron refused, telling him that he had to check up on the others... But that they would meet at the Inn. Before Brick could convince him, a fiery inferno blazed into exsitence behind Maeltheron and shook the roof down on them. Blasted back by the sheer force behind it, Brick rolled away.
Comming to his senses, Brick saw how the tunnel had broken down behind him and he had to limp back to The Minotaurs Head, swearing revenge on the bastards who did that to his friend.
Apperance and Motivation:
Brick is a tall man. Over the 190 cm and weighing around the 80 kg, he is not a man you want to meet in a dark alley. With big hands and arms thick and veined with muscles, Brick is usually seen as a big empty headed bull; good at running straight into trouble and just lashing out at everyone.
Having a tendency to crouch down, Brick might seem smaller, but no matter the amount of crouching, the hard face with the slightly crocked nose from a fist fight, can make Brick seem less intimidating.
But the keen observer will notice the sly look in the eyes, the constant movement and the methodical thought process that proves Brick is more than just a soldier. Raised with the teachings from both Haphor and Maeltheron, Brick knows what you might miss if you don't ask, but at the same time, he know that too many questions will add a new scar.
Having practiacally grown up in the guild, Brick wants nothing more than to see the guild back in it's prime. Of course he wants the power of the guild to make himself known, but what he wants the most is to kill the ones behind the death of his friend. Brick is sadly painfully aware that at his current state, he is no threat to the Mages... But he intend to change that.
