Brialla is awestruck at the majesty of the gold dragon. She stutters and stammers, hardly able to form words. Her heart races even more than during the heat of battle. "I am.. er.. You.. ahh.. Thanks?" she manages to bumble out, accepting the gift from Aurelliax, her face flushed red with embarrasment. I am such a pathetic fan girl... Wow, this society thing isn't so bad, does this happen all the time? "A ride? In the air? Y.. y... Yes!"

Brialla wrinkles up her nose as she inspects the dead woman, reviled at the sight of the runes. "Do you think she did this to herself? That doesn't make much sense..." She asks to everyone and no one in particular. After a thourough search of the body, having learned her lesson in the cabin, she then turns to the ettin to make sure there aren't any details that she missed. "I can carry the amulet, if no one objects." she says, reaching for the pendant and cleaning the blood off of it.

Brialla feels a rush of adrenaline course through her veins. The hair on her arms and neck stand up as she feels the energy within her struggle to stay contained. Each successive blast that buffets the giant bolsters her confidence. Smooth and practiced, another arrow finds its way to the bowstring. Muscles strain, the wooden bow bends silently at the pull. "Yes Aldran! That's the spot!" Brialla shouts, bolstered by her companion's boldness and success. Enjoying the high ground of the sloped, natural staircase, she knocks and draws another arrow back. Feeling bold, she aims its deadly tip towards the shattered kneecap hoping to add more insult to injury. "Together now!" she says, finally regaining her confidence. Pulling hard on the bowstring with her dominant right hand, she forces her left hand out and centers the tip of the arrow on center mass of the ettin. Unfortunately this is the consequences of using a pregen... I've only got what they gave me! Oi... :) Brialla sifts through the tieflings belongings, and snags the curative potion, drinking it quickly. CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 The magical salve immediately eases the sharpest of the pains, and she begins to breath a little easier. Brialla pats the dwarf on the shoulder, impressed at his ability to finally break through the stoic young man's defensive outer shell. "Guessing you already have some of these?" she holds up the thieve's tools and catches Sirius' eye. The rest of the belongings aren't all that appealing to the woman, so she leaves them for others to take what they want. Ignoring her blood-caked tunic, and adjusting the straps on her breastplate to cinch tighter around the wound on her arm, Brialla grits her teeth and moves towards the cave entrance. "Yee gods, I don't know why I can't shake the feeling that I've been out of it for a bit, but I'm glad to be back. Are we ready?" she asks with a smile on her face.

Brialla feels some measure of pity towards the siblings, but it is tempered by the fact that they seem to have made their own choices. sense motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 The ranger notices Tolwin's apparent uncaring stare, but doesn't know what to make of it. Factoring in his previous outburst, full of bitterness for being perceived as an outsider, well... bitterness never lead to good things for anyone. "Wait here. We will head into the cave and see about getting that amulet back. If there is anything we should know about Gilda, it would be best if you told us now." Brialla finally relaxes a little bit with this new information. She puts a comforting hand on Richelle's shoulder. "Thank you for that information. We still have a lot of work to do here." Turning to look at Tolwin, but addressing both of the siblings, she continues. "There may yet be a place for you at the Pathfinder Society. I can make no promises, but you are at least old enough to make that decision yourself. While we set about undoing what this cultist and his mother were trying to do, I want you to strongly consider one thing. If you decide you would like to apply to be an agent, you must never forget the society's tenants. Expore, Report, Cooperate." She emphasizes the last one for effect. "Your actions here to subvert the town and people who raised you will... not go over well with the society. But that doesn't mean you can't yet make it right, and perhaps redeem yourselves." With that bit of business seemingly taken care of, the lady of the woods turns to her companions. "If the amulet is with the mother, and the mother is in the cave, then I think we know where we go next."

Brialla opens her eyes with a start and immediately grabs the wicked wound in her side. She grimaces in pain, but tries her best to grit her teeth and hide it. Locking eyes with the dwarf, she nods her thanks and reaches out a hand for assistance in standing. "Calm down," She reitirates Aldran's words. "If you don't think anyone cares about you then you are putting too much weight in the words of a liar. Because whoever told you that is only lying to get what they want." The ranger works her arm in a circle, making sure it still works, and grunts again from the pain of the effort. "Drendle Dreng sent us here to check up on you because he is worried about you. That doesn't happen if no one cares about you." Brialla finishes her logical argument, hoping it sinks in to the two youths. "What you did here isn't just about Aurelliax either. There is a whole town full of people who were going to get hurt, and still might be at risk. Tell us what this liar here," She uses her toe to nudge the unconcious tiefling, "Wanted from you, and we might still be able to help you come out on the good side of this. Believe it or not, there are people in the town who are worried about you too. They need an explanation for why you would have attacked the bloomgivers. Let's give them the truth, and then give them the benefit of the doubt that they will judge you fairly. Especially when they find out this cultist was involved." Brialla raises an eyebrow, hoping that between Meraina's cowing, and Aldran and her words, they might break through to the two young ones.

Just FYI - I've never played this adventure either. I have no idea what to expect, and anything that might suggest otherwise is my own wild speculation. That said, There do tend to be a lot of patterns in PFS scenarios, particularly ones that are written for a set of pregen characters. If you've ever played any of the We Be Goblins games, you will notice some of the similarities. So back to the beginning - I'm sorry. "Him! Here! This is the real enemy! Focus your fire on the cultist!" Brialla shouts to her companions, frustrated that she somehow missed the tiefling as she ran by. How and why and the implications of that miss didn't really matter right now though, and wouldn't matter at all if she didn't survive. Knocking another arrow she lifts her bow and points it at center mass. She always did prefer getting a little closer with this weapon, finding uncanny ways to hit the sweet spot on her target. Brialla's pleads with the youths, already imagining the disappointment on Drendle Dreng's face when he hears the news of what his charges are up to. There will be punishment, but hopefully it doesn't involve death for their poor choices. Brialla quick steps to close the gap, bringing the boy within point blank range. Brialla was no beginner though. With her free right hand, the ranger swings the door open wide with sudden force, peering into the dank interior to see what the moldy walls hold within. Brialla grimaces, almost as if she expected the news. She is surprised that it was reportedly from the siblings they were sent to check on. There are just too many coincidences here, something doesn't add up. "Thank you Yarla, I will give you a full report on the quality of these arrows, though honestly let's hope I don't have to use them, right?" the ranger flashes a charming smile. "Kara and Kameer. What can you tell us about how you were attacked? Did Richelle and Towlin say anything? Perhaps why they wanted to take the amulet?" Brialla's mind begins to spin with the possibilities. She tries not to jump to the same conclusions that the villagers are jumping to, immediately blaming the young adults. What if they felt threatened by this cult? What if they knew the amulet would protect them from Kostkitchie's agents? That could have been why they were so desperate to win the contest to be the bloomgivers. Sorry for the weekend absence... "Or what about taking us to meet Aurelliax? Can you do that? We would so like to meet her." Brialla mentions to the boys. They might not know where the two wayward wards of the mayor were, but from what they had heard the gold dragon had made an appearance in town. Of course, there was still the matter of the delayed return of the bloomgivers. Fairs and games and things were fun, but Brialla had a gnawing sense of anxiety that things were already starting to turn bad, and the pathfinders weren't doing anything yet to figure out what might be going on. "We really do have work to do. If we could meet with Aurelliax or the Mayor, it would be immensely helpful." Ok, we know the Mayor is reportedly at Protectress square, by the statue. We know that a shadowy figure was turned away from the fair, and that the two kids we were sent to check on aren't allowed here. We also know that the bloomgivers are late, though they are supposed to have some sort of amulet that protects them. We also know that the cult is definitely plotting something against the gold dragon. We have lots of loose ends and I'm not entirely sure where to start, other than to talk to someone with some authority. It doesn't take long for the square to fill up with people, all eager to enjoy the festival and its trappings. The ranger catches up with her pathfinder companions and eagerly shows off her sketches of the festival's booths and rides. "You can't really get too much practice with this stuff right?" she adds, ever the eager student. "I've wandered around a bit," she says, turning her comments back to their mission at hand, "but I've honestly not paid much attention to the people. Where do you all think we should start? We've got a couple of kids who are likely more like young adults now, plus a jeweler we can ask questions of. If Richelle and Towlin were under the care of the mayor, then I think we should go there first. Both to ask about them, and to get the name of the Jeweler. What do you think? I bet the mayor is even here now, somewhere in the crowd."

The night before Brialla does her best to be social, but it is painfully clear that she is out of her element in a place so busy and crowded. The more observant of her companions catch her frequently whispering the words to herself, explore, report, cooperate like a mantra. The mantra always seems to intensify when Sirius gets distracted by something that reminds him of safe words and other sophomoric humor. At the table she enjoys her meal while reading through her journal and the notes she had taken so far, not making much effort to join the conversation while still doing her best not to seem standoffish. Give me the woods and the chatter of birds over the din of a mead hall any day. When a long enough lull in the conversation happens, she screws up her courage to speak up. "I feel like on some level I should have known about who Kostchtchie is. I hate giants like most people hate spiders, and do my best to treat them the same way." she grouses. Her fingers run through her hair, pulling it into the shape of a ponytail to keep the flying strands out of her face, and her nimble fingers quickly tie it off. "But a Golden Dragon, now that would be quite a sight to see. I almost have to pinch myself that we would get the opportunity to be the ones to smooth things over here." Despite her shyness, her excitement is clear.

I'm assuming that for running a pregen I will still get the full rewards right? 2PP plus whatever goodies might be on the chronicle sheet? Thanks!

Brialla raises a single eyebrow as her pack contents spill to the floor, cocking her head slightly. She lets out an awkward, forced chuckle before turning back to Dreng, just in time to catch the innuendos flying back and forth. Animals... she muses, rolling her eyes. No sooner than that had passed, the venture captain begins spilling details for the group. Her pen works furiously to capture the important details, and her mind works double time at keeping everything straight, a daunting task considering VC Dreng's tendency to ramble. Before he can answer the rhetorical question, Brialla launches into a real question. "Do you know the name of the jeweler? And do you know specifically what kind of value these relics might have? I would assume they are probably more than just shelf decorations..." She lets out a nervous laugh, suddenly self-conscious for speaking up in front of everyone.

Brialla pulls the longbow from its position on her back and sets it on the table in front of her, watching the infamous venture captain fiddle with his smoking pipe with contented bemusement. Her filled traveling pack sits in the corner of the small room, a grappling hook and length of rope neatly tied to the back while other buckles keep its contents bound safely inside. She runs a hand gloved with supple leather through her golden hair, pulling it behind her ears in an absent-minded gesture, one she has done so many times it doesn’t even register in her consciousness. The studs on her leather armor click quietly against the hard chair. Know (local) #1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Aurelliax? Can’t say that I have.” She furrows her brow, thinking on the question. Her thoughts are distracted though. She was going to Highdelve! Maybe she could find that jeweler and get a mission under her belt for the society. She tries her best to focus on the mission at hand, but the chance to get a copy of her signet ring had her head not exactly in the right place. After a moment, she gets herself together and pulls her journal out of her pack. Jotting down Aurelliax quickly, she turns her eyes back to the Drendle Dreng. He was quickly becoming her favorite VC, on account of his pleasant, grandfatherly like demeanor. Wanting to impress him dearly, she began to think of the types of questions she might ask, but waited patiently for him to answer his own question first and finish explaining the problem they would get to solve.

I'm more interested in the better rewards for using pregens. Happy to use Brialla. I'll assign the chronicle to this character though: Player: Steve H.
