Braiden Antwan was born to a pair of peasants, and such was the lot of his own life. He lived in the city for most of his life, taking his father's meager profession as a wheel maker and making a pittance. However, his whole existence was changed in the course of a night. In his dreams, he saw glimpses of three evil hags, of bloody murder and treachery, and finally, a maddening glimpse of the very city he lived in being consumed by flames, with the dying all around and chaos everywhere. He awoke drenched in sweat, screaming hoarsely. He found his vision was inexplicably clouded, and he also felt a new and terrible power inside him.
Since that night, he hasn't gotten a good night's sleep, every night being awakened by horrible views of death and despair. Sometimes in the day he also gets visions, though they seem to be of a much less horrible nature than his nightly terrors. These other visions give him images of the near future, though not always having anything to do with him. The emotional strain these visions have caused Braiden have pushed him to the edge of sanity. He has given up his profession, now preaching of the death he sees every night to the people passing on the streets. He barely scrounges enough to get by, yet knows he can't go back to the simple existence he once had.
Braiden has also discovered that, beside the visions, he has a new sort of power, though it is of a terrible sort. He can visit the visions that torment him onto others, only in starker and more terrifying clarity. He can also impose the awful feelings of dread and despair to others.
Currently, he is headed to the newly appointed king's castle, as some of his visions of despair seem to have rung true. It would seem the king would like to hear some of his other visions of the future, though Braiden is hesitant to tell him his true visions, as not a one is pleasant.
