words!
The young Booker Graves grew up with a small troupe of miscreant youths cavorting through small villages among the River Kingdoms. Early on he learned that he was good at sneaking around through the trees to scout out potential targets, generally consisting of merchants plying their trade along the many winding waterways of his homeland. He generally took a hands-off role in the perpetration of larceny, until the fateful day that their crew robbed a skiff captained by a keen-eyed old sailor with a beat-up old pistol. The captain managed to spot Booker as he was scouting out the skiff and scared the young Vanaran off when he clipped him with a thunderous shot. Though injured, Booker was impressed enough with the destructive power in that gun to follow the skiff and sneak back on that night. He stole the pistol, returned to his own troupe, and the next day they boarded the skiff and made off with their wares. There they found a shipment of art and literature from distant Tian Xia. Most was of little use to the young pirates, but Booker found in the stash a thick tome in a familiar script: an account of the mischief of the Monkey King, Sun Wukong. Booker took these stories to heart, and began his own sort of worship of the Trickster God, not so much as a deity but more as a personal goal to surpass in legend. Soon after these two fated acquisitions, Booker left his friends behind to pursue his own legend as a drifter and soldier of fortune, making up for his lackluster intellect with keen cunning and lightning-fast reflexes.

Booker casts a unique image, covered in soft, dark-gray fur from the top of his head to the tips of his toes and his long, nimble tail. His wide, squarish face is dominated by the luxurious and outlandish drooping white moustache framing his wide, expressive mouth, much like an Emperor Tamarin. A whispy white goatee and large black eyes fill out his facial features, and a black top hat typically sits atop his head. His traveling attire consists of sturdy pants and shirt under a large striped poncho, all in earthy tones suitable for blending in to the wilderness. He's never without a few powderhorns and large, oiled, waterproof satchel for carrying his belongings. He keeps his feet bare, even on long travels, as he is ever keen to climb around and boots would only hinder him in that regard. Booker is rarely seen sitting still, and even when sneaking around seeks more to match his movements to natural rhythms rather than sit stock still.
