About Book Who Burns

“This one is the ekujae elf known as Book Who Burns. This one tends the record trees and fights those who despoil the wilds.”

Book Who Burns was originally born a conrasu, an abstract chunk of spiritual essence surrounded by a shell of living wood. Confused about their identity and purpose, they meditated for several centuries until the druid Tanir of the Sloth clan came upon them and mistook them for a record tree, the trees that the ekujae shape and use as libraries. Surprised by the passion of the elvish writing Tanir inscribed upon them, Book Who Burns finally realized who they were, and what their purpose was. They introduced themselves to Tanir as a fellow ekujae elf, and vowed themselves to protect the wilds and serve as a chronicler for the ekujae. The ekujae have adopted Book as one of their record trees, albeit one with mobility and self-will.

During their time training with their father Tanir, Book discovered an affinity for magic hailing from the planes of wood and fire. Because Tanir’s niece, Fola Barun, works with the Pathfinder Society (heading the Envoy’s Alliance Faction) Tanir encouraged Book to spend a short time learning about the outside world in the Pathfinder Society and bring back wisdom to the Ekujae people. Book enjoys going to libraries to converse with other books. So far they have not spoken back to them, but Book is patient and is willing to wait for them to share their wisdom.

FIRE WARDEN Whether you fought against fires in the wilderness or in crowded city streets, you've had your fair share of dealing with uncontrolled flames. Battling thick smoke and toxic fumes, you've broken down obstacles to save trapped people from a fiery grave, and you've studied the nature and source of fire itself to try and better learn how to fight it.

Choose two attribute boosts. One must be to Strength or Constitution, and one is a free attribute boost. You're trained in the Athletics skill and the Plane of Fire Lore skill. You gain the Breath Control feat.

Ancestry Feats and Abilities

Special 1st: Conrasu Ancestry The true form of a conrasu is an abstract chunk of spiritual essence. While their being exists beyond the truth of humanoid senses, to the mortal eye, their body usually resembles a globe of light, darkness, or space. Floating, internal pinpricks of illumination sit inside the ball, slightly obscured as if peeking through a gelatinous substance. These “cores” surround themselves with bodies made out of still-living wood, creating the form that most people recognize as a conrasu. Conrasus themselves are called to a path and, once they find it, shape frames to create a suitable form, leading to a wide variety of appearances.

Sunlight Healing A conrasu can enter a meditative, healing state as a 10-minute activity when exposed to direct sunlight, in which case they recover 1d8 Hit Points. At 3rd level, and every 2 levels thereafter, this healing increases by 1d8. Once a conrasu has recovered Hit Points in this way, they are temporarily immune to further uses of Sunlight Healing for 1 day.

Heritage 1st: Aiuvarin (Heritage) You have elves, or possibly other aiuvarins, in your family tree. You have pointed ears and other telltale signs of elf heritage. You gain the elf trait, the aiuvarin trait, and low-light vision. In addition, when you gain an ancestry feat, you can choose from aiuvarin and elf feats in addition to those from your ancestry.

You can breathe even in hazardous or sparse air. You can hold your breath for 25 times as long as usual before suffocating. You gain a +1 circumstance bonus to saving throws against inhaled threats, such as inhaled poisons, and if you roll a success on such a saving throw, you get a critical success instead.

FIRE IMPULSE KINETICIST PRIMAL

A Tiny shape of flame appears, taking a form of your choice— such as a bird, an arrow, or a simple sphere. It Flies from you up to 30 feet in a path you choose. Each creature it passes through takes 1d6 fire damage with a basic Reflex save against your class DC. A creature attempts only one save, even if the flame passes through it multiple times.
Level (+2) The damage increases by 1d6.

HEALING IMPULSE KINETICIST PLANT PRIMAL VITALITY WOOD

You grow a nourishing nut, vegetable, seed, or fruit. Choose a creature in your kinetic aura. The produce grows in their open hand, or at their feet if they have no open hands. The produce has light Bulk. A creature can eat it with an Interact action to regain 1d4 + 1 HP; this is a healing vitality effect. The creature feels full for 10 minutes, during which it has resistance 2 to void damage and can't eat another piece of produce. Produce not consumed by the start of your next turn withers away.
Level (+2) The healing increases by 1d4+5, and the resistance increases by 2.

IMPULSE KINETICIST PRIMAL WOOD

Wood and bark grow over your body like armor. This hardwood armor is medium armor but uses your highest armor proficiency. The wooden armor's statistics are: AC Bonus +3; Dex Cap +2; Check Penalty –2; Speed Penalty –5 feet; Strength 14; Bulk 1; Group wood TV. Any bonuses, runes, and magical abilities of your actual armor are suppressed, but any runes that could apply to the hardwood armor are replicated onto it. When you use this impulse, you can also create a wooden shield in a free hand. You can Shield Block with this shield even if you don't have that feat. The hand wielding this shield counts as a free hand for using impulses. The shield decays in an instant if it becomes broken or leaves your grasp. The armor lasts for 10 minutes, and you can Dismiss this impulse. If you use this impulse again, any existing one ends.
