Male Human Swordsage 8, Warblade 6

During the two months trip to the waystation Port Wonder by mercy of the Emperor the trip is a peaceful one. The recently embarked passengers belonging to the old Rogue Trader Dynasty Belmont though have had a little trouble settling in. The crew kind of puzzled and weary of their presence given their rather colorful meeting aboard a star ship belonging to chaos reavers leaves several questions to be answered. Questions that Chaine Belmont apparently the captain of the ill fated Balesong of Midnight and older brother of the two ladies (one of which is supposedly locked in some stasis coffin, the other remaining in her quarters surrounded by her retinue of odd handmaidens) would not mind at all to answer at length given that he would ow that much at the very least due to an ancient and well respected accord between the two families, after all they have such a storied history together.

Just testing out the Play by Post system for a future attempt at gaming with these features. Been a long time since I was on these boards kind of feels good to be back.

Hello everyone this is a campaign journal chronicling the stories of Ramm Warmegoden and his allies in their attempt to save the world from its impending doom. The game is based in the Anima: Beyond Fantasy game system and the setting is a homebrew worked up by The Admiral Jose Monkamuck

I invite anyone from the game group to add their own perspective if they want and any commentary from possible readers is also welcome. Now to the listing of our cast, Note I currently do not have each characters actual name at this point so I will refer to them as either their respective character class or something that suits their nature.

Ramm Warmegoden: Jayan Weapon Master, the character I play currently. He’s your typical big heavy armor laden tank wielding many massive weapons and virtually no supernatural powers so far.

Tao: Human/Taoist, played by Dave(Lilly in the admirals Try Not to Die campaign). The character is a smarmy bastard all ways trying to hook up with any pretty female he sees. He’s highly flirtatious but also highly skilled in combat. Somewhat of a glass cannon though.

Illusionist: Jayan/Illusionist, he’s a con man to a tee, somewhat cowardly but skilled in illusion magic and keeping us well funded on our venture.

Shaman: Daimah/wizard, she is a shaman with major control over the Creation tree of magic. Protective wards and healing galore, played by the Admirals wife

Shadow: D’anjayni/Shadow, she is a wanderer of sorts just trying to survive, also a decent thief mixed well with her power to move about without many remembering that she was ever there to begin with.

Dancer: Sylvain/wizard, she is a dancer with a tribal background. She doesnt have true control over her spell casting, requiring acient rites or dances to invoke her mystical power and she specializes in Destruction magic, thing is the effects and power vary. It will be very interesting to see her develop as the game goes on.

This first entry is from Ramms perspective and is kind of an intro into his side of the story. The ones following might be more of overall synopsis or play by play as the game goes on so readers can see a larger picture of the evenings events

Prelude:
Great mother Ormada has summoned me this morn. Me the last born son of our family, the last born, what could she possibly ask of me that my older brothers are not worthy of,or elder sister Altea, she has finally joined the ranks of the Shield Maidens the queens elite! Entering into her chambers I could not help but feel overwhelmed, Great Mother Ormada our families long lived matriarch sister to the queen herself, a powerful warrior in her time, but thats not what impresses the most. She is known to be a gifted seer, a power which has on more times than I know of saved our kingdom. As I bowed in her presence as required of a dutiful son of the family she said she would grant me three things.

One a prophecy; Darkness comes on crimson wings, a tree of acient lineage falls roots watered by madness, light will be found in the darkest of places lighting fires upon the sky. Second she granted me a task. Seek the red wanderer whom holds creation in their hands and the arrogant one whom bears an ancient burden I would know them upon meeting. Third and final she granted me that which I should not be worthy of the Hammer of the Thunder Bringer, an acient artifact of great importance to our family said to have belong to the first king of our lands and one our greatest warriors of legend.

How could I the youngest son be thought of to bare such a weapon and be tasked with such a quest, I am not like my elder brothers I have not the eldritch power of Grenden nor the sly cunning of Balik and certaintly not the wisdom of Marder all I am gifted with is a strong arm, such honor should not be bestowed upon one such as myself but I cannot think as such. The Great Mother has tasked me with such a quest dare I pause at the duty laid before me to do such would dishonor me, dishonor our family, I cannot allow that to happen.

That aside this prophecy she told me of forbodes of dark days ahead, something comes I know not what that is but I will brave it none the less or the name of Ramm Warmegoden would mean less than nothing.

Session 2 Feb 20, 2010

I forgot to mention that another character, Luna had lost her soul after netting a lot of good stuff. Well given that Thannis was rather smitten with Luna he declares that the next course of action is to reclaim her soul. The party reluctantly agrees seeing that we would have to travel to the Outland Plane where it was trapped. After the careful expenditure of wishes Thannis earned from the Deck, we had all the necessary arrangements to proceed. The party which accounted for Lobo, Thannis, Jayce, Tharnos and Luna’s unconscious body, teleported to the plane where they landed in what was a very desert like terrain. Luckily thanks to the carefully worded wish that got us here we didn’t have to go wondering off to locate Luna soul.

Her soul apparently was trapped inside a soul stone that was guarded by a sphinx. Well the sphinx offered that it would hand over the soul if we did something for it that it found of equal value; present it with a riddle that it could not solve. Jayce who was annoyingly good with riddles presented it one with which it was thoroughly stumped and conceded the soul stone to us. The only problem now was to break it open to retrieve the soul. After a little working of buff spells and a decent starting point from which to crack the sucker open and Luna’s soul was freed along with Connie and The Druid at the same time. afterwards returning to the material plane the group landed in the middle of nowhere surrounded by the ocean and a chain of islands. Jayce decides to take the time to go spear fishing to gather some supplies for the group since a number of them lost a deal of it (primarily Lobo who only has a suit of studded leather armor and his weapon). Later in day the group while travelling what they had hoped to be north towards the city of Farshore is approached by two water mephitis. Lobo decides to deal with the situation himself to work off a little frustration and get some exercise in. one thing leads to another and ends with one dead mephit and a level for Lobo (he pulled the solo challenge card allowing him to lvl up if he won the next encounter on his own).

Deciding to continue moving while there was still some daylight left Tharnos spots a structure hidden among some overgrowth (he is really good at that). Clearing it away it is discovered to be a staircases leading down into a dungeon. Since they had nothing else to do at the moment a little exploration wouldn’t hut anybody. Exploration found that most of the initial area had been picked clean but the group observed ancient painting on the walls depicting an ancient civilization. They had also found the skeletal remains of what looked like a winged elf and a winged centaur (previous players that most of the current players are glad to have left).

Thankfully not all of the time spent there was peaceful. Again Tharnos would detect something moving toward them from a darker part of the dungeon and it sounded hungry. In a failed attempt to use the cover of darkness (seeing as Lobo was the only one with Darkvision) to ambush the Gibering Mouther that came oozing around a corner which saw Lobo screaming to turn on the lights then not to turn them on. In what at first appeared to be a one-sided encounter in the favor of the mouther after swallowing down Lobo who escaped and then Tharnos who wasn’t as lucky until the end where he managed to pull himself out. Spells were slung, crossbow bolts were let loose and only the Druid of the group decided to sit back and watch as members were eaten only to be barfed back up, and then the beasty popped like a wart from magic fire.

When the nasty beasty was slain the corpses of the dead winged guys were picked cleaned and then the group rested for the night to end the session there.

Marcus Black aka “Wardog” – an ex-coalition force SAMAS Ace and veteran of both the Tolkeen and Free Quebec war fronts. He deserted and became a merc along side his old unit. Since then he’s been married and has travelled to other dimensions where he met his partner LOKI a neural intelligence that has been implanted into brain. His latest mission has brought him through a rift to the far west of north America. He’s without his trusty Fenrir power armor and he can’t here LOKI anymore so he sets out for answers.

Zor – A warrior with great power and the only remaining member of a merc squad Marcus had put together at the beginning of the game. Unbeknownst to the party Zor is actually a Sunaj Assassin trained to be an Undead Slayer. He’s generally quite and reserved and keeps to himself mostly when he’s not arguing with the elf. It’s unclear if he has any goals and if he does what they would be but he is one to be watched closely.

Blades the Elf – hailing from the palladium fantasy world where he was an Elvin Longbow Archer worshiping some dark god. He got transported to earth via rifts where he was drafted by Marcus into his merc group. He’s seems kind of unstable to most of the group and for a long time only Zor could even speak to him due to language barriers. Due to some dark tendencies and aggressive manners he doesn’t get along very well with the rest of the team.

Tsar – a quite Gunmaster/Swordsman whose skills have proven themselves time and again and is probably the more trust worthy member of the team. He appears to have no outward ambitions but is always there when the help is needed. He also seems to have no qualms about the choices that are made in certain situations. Always calm and collected he enters every situation with calculated destruction as the outcome.

Ken aka “Kid” – Kid is a dedicated martial artist trained by an ancient master from another world. He has no knowledge of the world at large and for that matter that more than one exists at all. When he came through the rift to earth he was drafted into Marcus’s merc group and has been confused ever since. He has begun to learn just how the world outside of his monk life style actually is and appears to be braving it for the time being.

Hello all I'm going to be running a rifts campaign probrably picking up where the Cap'n left off. So far it looks like my players will consist of the Cap'n and Tin Man, the GM of a whole world, and the player of the knight in that campaign respectfully. Hopefully I'll have a whole group by the time the game picks up.

Even so I will attemp to keep record of their happenings in this journal for anyone who cares to enjoy. Wish me luck as it has been a long while since I've run a rifts campaign.

Oh and as usuall I welcom any comments or suggestions for the campaign from my fellow Paizo board readers, tanks.

After an arrow sunk into sneaky taking him out of the fight at least for a short while I managed to get off a surprise attack on the shaman dumbfounding him and his guards as they tried to figure out how I managed to slip past them so quickly with out them noticing out here in the open. The fight after that did not last long as Sneaky and I kept the pressure on the shaman while Kitty kept the berserking chieftain busy and slaying all of his warriors. Only the archers that we forgot about managed to escape. After cleaning up our wounds and securing the camp did we find the wagon and crew along with a female passenger who did not look too well, every time one of the men approached her she would scream and claw at them. It was apparent the orcs had had their way with her when they captured the caravan. Magic Girl took the woman into her care while we camped there for the night. That night after looting the camp Sneaky found a small clay disk with some etching on it of a tree we originally thought nothing of it and moved on. The next day we would escort the wagons to the mountain troll stronghold.

On the road to the keep Sneaky and Kitty spotted what looked like a pair of travlers coming down the road towards us and along with Tin Man went to investigate. A few minutes later they returned with the strangers who introduced themselves as Wiz a human wizard and Droodad a female human druid. They were convinced by Sneaky to join and came with us on the road to the goblin stronghold.

As we traveled to the stronghold Kitty and I spotted what appeared to be an ambush laid out by another group of orcs. Not wanting to spoil the surprise they had set up Sneaky, Kitty and myself decided to make an ambush of our own while the rest of the group kept down the road appearing as normal as a small caravan could so as not to draw suspicion. Our sneak attack proved devastating as we disorganized our would be ambushers hacking them to pieces in short order. However this ambush would have made and even greater contribution if we had realized that their simple tactic was not entirely disrupted for on the other side of the road more orc marauders came from the bushes and pounced upon the wagons. Even our newly found companions found the battle to be a struggle with the assault intensifying with every second.
