"Illusion magic?" Bethella says. She approaches the boy more closely and looks at him, trying to discern what's going on.

"It's OK," Bethella says soothingly to the boy. "This spell won't hurt anybody, I'm just making sure you're OK."

She casts Detect Thoughts, and focuses in on the thoughts of the boy. (Will save DC is 15.)

Bethella looks at the boy and waves to catch his attention. She smiles at him, and then holds a finger over her lips, trying to convey that they are friendly and here to help, but that he should not do anything to reveal their presence.

(On the off chance that the fey aren't hidden and watching already....)

Busara moves with the others.

"Keep those sharp eyes of yours peeled," she says quietly to Brennus. She listens carefully for any sound. She doubts the fey would reveal themselves, but if the human child is out there, he might potentially make some noise.

Bethella nods. "If it is the tradition of your tribe and your will, then sentence him to death. But I agree with what the others have said; make it quick. Death is penalty enough. He will be judged in Pharasma's Boneyard, where his soul will go on to receive whatever justice it has earned in the Great Beyond."

Bethella also comes to talk to the chief. "Ollie, of course, means no disrespect!" she says. "Offering suggestions for how things should be done to be contemplated by the wisdom of the chief is a way to make the tribe stronger, better."

Hey guys, sorry about the long silence. This game has been moving at a faster posting rate than I expected. I had a pretty busy week and fell behind on everything; seeing the number of posts I was behind, I procrastinated catching up with this game. I'm just now catching up, much later.

I will attempt not to go silent that long again in the future.

"If Dibdob is off to abduct another human child, then we might want to, er, permanently deal with this Dibdob," Bethella says.

She pauses, and thinks. "Hmm, I wonder if he has a nickname? Dobby, perhaps?"

Shaking her head. "In any event, if we can get Gibgub the ear of the chief back, it sounds like it might be possible to coexist with this goblin tribe. In any event, we have to find out where the fey are, so that we can rescue the child that's already been taken! And we probably don't have a lot of time."

"Yes, Milani is one who might be what you're looking for. And, I could tell you about Desna, Lady Luck, if you're interested."

"But, right now, we need to see if we can rescue this human child before whatever fey creature it is uses the poor tyke in some kind of sacrifice."

Bethella will try to join in on the conversation between Alis and the little goblin. "Which diety is it that you do pray to?"

She's curious as well to hear the answer to Alis' question.

(She will see if she can figure out what sort of fey creature it is from anything the goblin says: Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21.)

Bethella casts a spell, bringing up a minor protective barrier over herself, so that she would be ready if combat happens.

"Let's keep following them... but keep an eye out! We don't know if they have an ambush ready."

She looks to Brennus. "Do you want to join in the aerial scouting? Or lurk here? Either way, make sure to keep yourself out of harm's way!"

"Ha ha!" Bethella says. "Yes, don't let out our secret, but we all try to bamboozle our men into thinking that we are less capable than we are. It allows us to surprise them when the time is right...."

She glances over at Brennus and chuckles again. She was all about ancient lore and arcane secrets herself, but she also enjoyed good company. She'd never known a bookworm more focused on learning than her familiar!

"There you go!" Bethella says, perusing the book. She puts it back down in front of Brennus. "Make sure you don't walk on it if you still have bits of pie in your feet."

"I a in as well," Bethella says. "Goblins are nasty little creatures, and their tricks fall more towards the crude and damaging than the creative and surprising. If they're stealing chickens we want to stop them before they start stealing children."

She takes two pieces of pie, and calls out to her familiar "Brennus! Pie!"

After a pause.

"Brennnnnnuuuussss!!!"

She stands up, goes over to Brennus, carefully takes the book away from him, and puts down some pie where the book had been. (She then takes a quick look at what he was reading....)

As they approach the house, Bethella says, "That's a really nice looking house! I like the shape of it. Looks sturdy, too."

As they enter the house, she looks around. "It looks very comfortable!" However, she can't repress her curiosity, and is quickly drawn to the tables with the incomplete projects, trying to see if she can figure out what they all are.

Bethella nods to Brennus. "Indeed," she whispers back. "And if we're going to make this our new home, we'd want to investigate this in any event."

Ready to go to the Pie House and talk about the rumors and if we want to band together and investigate them. Spoiler: I predict we band together and investigate them!

When Brennus says that he eats whatever, Bethella smiles. "You just wait and see how he likes eyeballs the first time we come across something dead whose best juicy parts haven't already been taken...."

To Alis, she says, "Untrue stories? I can do that! And I love pie! Especially dark, foreboding pie!"

Bethella nods. "Good to meet you. Plant and beast magic is useful stuff. I know some magic myself; mine tends more towards the... well, the distraction sort, you know...."

She remains a little vague.

"Oh, this and that," Bethella says vaguely in response to the question about how she supports herself. "Everybody can use a little witchery now and then. And Brennus here can serve as a scarecrow tester if somebody needs it...."

"Oh, this and that," Bethella says vaguely. "Brennus and I like to travel, see different parts of the world. We'd been living in another town and traveling out from there for some time, and decided it was a change of pace. So, here we are!"

"Bethella," the halfling tells Alias pleasantly. And nodding towards the raven, she says, "and this is Brennus, but he'll probably tell you all about himself before long."

She raises one eyebrow and watches as the large digmaul comes into the room.

Looking to Brennus, she says, "It's old-home week at the zoo!"

I figure that Bethella and Brennus have usually travelled alone, but that might include temporarily joining on with a caravan or travelling group if they were going in the right direction. That could have been on the way to the current town (whose name I will start to remember one day, promise!).

(Aside: the game Traveller forever ruined my ability to spell words like traveler and traveled correctly. Of course, it's irritating that those words don't seem to follow the usual English convention.)

A vivacious-looking red-haired halfling woman comes into the room, and looks around. Those who live in the town may have seen here around here and there over the course of the last couple of weeks, but know that she's not a local.

With her is an alert-looking raven... but of course he will describe himself.

Bethella looks around the tavern. I suppose I should be outgoing and get to know the locals, if I'm going to be spending a fair amount of time here.

She sees Alis sitting at a table by herself looking contemplative. The halfling approaches the table. "Mind if I join you?"

How about Bethella and Brennus are travelers, but they do have a home base. For one reason or another, they're relocating, and this town is their new home base, and they've only been here a few weeks.

rknop here. Character is partially done. She's going to be halfling Witch with the Trickery patron, who tries to be a bit of a tricker herself. Decent bluff, will probably have fun with illusion magic. I should have something to post tomorrow (Monday) night.
