Male Halfling DEAD
Thanks for running that :-)
I'll now be hiding this thread - if there are any problems, feel free to PM me.
Male Halfling DEAD
Male Halfling DEAD
Belkar attempts to herd the rats out his way, incidentally pushing them away as Shreya follows in his wake.
Handle Animal (-2 to assist Shreya): 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 5 - 2 = 15.
Male Halfling DEAD
Belkar scrambles up the stairs as fast as he can.
Climb(-2 to aid Shreya): 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 - 2 = 5.
1d3 ⇒ 3
Unfortunately, he stumbles, and skins his knee.
Male Halfling DEAD
Belkar dives between the barrels, hoping that his wake will force them aside long enough to make it easier for Shreya to get through.
Swim(-2 to assist Shreya included): 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 - 2 = 12.
Although swimming is clearly not his strong suit, he nevertheless make its through without being crushed by any of the barrels.
Male Halfling DEAD
Acrobatics(including -2 to aid Shreya): 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 - 2 = 16.
Belkar ducks and weaves through the grasping arms, batting them aside to allow Shreya to pass, as well.
Male Halfling DEAD
Belkar groans.
"This was supposed to be the easy part!"
Reflex(taking a -2 penalty to assist Shreya's roll): 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 7 - 2 = 16.
Nimbly dodging the falling cases, he makes a bee-line for the exit.
Male Halfling DEAD
"Right. Looks like we have what we need. Let's retrieve Kardess, and get out of this stinking cess-pool!"
Male Halfling DEAD
"Well, we could check the room he came out of..."
Belkar then moves to peek through the doorway.
Male Halfling DEAD
Belkar frowns, and shrugs.
"I asked if anyone could heal me, and the only response I received was to be told to get out of the way, or fall over. I elected to not be within range if it chose to slit my throat."
Male Halfling DEAD
Belkar groans as he returns to consciousness, then nods his thanks to Shreya.
"I take it that you finished off the fat bastard?"
Male Halfling DEAD
"Fine."
Belkar jumps (withdraws) over the balustrade...
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10.
Falling damage (for a controlled jump): 1d6 ⇒ 5 non-lethal.
...and knocks himself out.
Male Halfling DEAD
Belkar grunts (weakly) in annoyance.
"Can anyone get me some healing, or should I just stab him, and fall over?"
Male Halfling DEAD
Belkar happily goes for a double-stab...
Cold Iron Kukri: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 1 = 9, for 1d3 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 = 5 damage.
Cold Iron Kukri: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 = 10, for 1d3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 1 = 4 damage.
...but instead nearly falls over.
My first attack rolls for the game, and they are rubbish! :-/
Male Halfling DEAD
Will: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12.
"Gah!"
Belkar climbs up the wall.
Climb: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11.
He then looks down at the Grease at his feet.
"Could someone please get rid of that?"
Male Halfling DEAD
With a groan of annoyance, Belkar pulls out his rope and grappling hook, and tosses up to the top ledge, ready to climb next round.
Since I think we should try and manage more than a two-man front...
Male Halfling DEAD
I have a feeling that Gerrin just killed purple, so maybe Kulga could step over its body, and stab down at green (gaining her a +1 to hit from height advantage), instead? Failing that, I am about to set up a flank on Orange, that she could take advantage of ;-)
Belkar hustles forward (again), moving around to set-up a flank on Orange.
Double move.
Male Halfling DEAD
Belmar hustles forward to provide Gerrin with a flank.
Double move.
Male Halfling DEAD
Belkar continues to hustle forward.
Male Halfling DEAD
Belkar moves into the room, staying within the radius of the light.
Male Halfling DEAD
Not actually able to see anything in the room, Belkar simply draws his weapons, and waits.
Male Halfling DEAD
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20.
"Well, at least we got a decent barrel of wine out of it... then, of course, there is the matter of the secret door to the west..."
Male Halfling DEAD
With a shrug, Belkar starts climbing the wall, hoping to reach the balcony.
Climb: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17.
Climb: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21.
Male Halfling DEAD
Belkar shrugs.
"If it stays in the water, I think the trick is to get *out* of the water. If that thing chooses to follow us up onto dry land, then so much the better!"
He then pulls out a rope-and-grappling-hook, and tosses it at the upper railing, intending to scale the wall.
Move action to retrieve, and standard action to throw.
Male Halfling DEAD
Swim 'Take 10' = 12.
Looking a bit like a drowned rat, Belkar slowly makes his way over to the wall to the west, figuring that he will have better luck climbing, than swimming.
Male Halfling DEAD
Yeah - both small and medium can move three squares as a full round action; the smalls just have to make a swim check in order to do so.
Male Halfling DEAD
Swim: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14.
Grunting in annoyance, Belkar starts swimming for dry land.
Full round action to move 15'.
Male Halfling DEAD
"Huh. Credit where credit is due, that was a fairly impressive trap!"
Once the party is healed up, Belkar heads down the stairs to the cellar.
Male Halfling DEAD
Well, assuming that it isn't trapped, 'Take 20' to open locks *is* one of the listed examples in the CRB, so it should be fine...
Male Halfling DEAD
Belkar shrugs.
"Just take your time."
i.e. 'Take 20' on the open lock attempt. I think we can spare a few minutes ;-)
Male Halfling DEAD
"Right then. Let's leave it, and report back."
Returning to the other room, he lets the creature know that 'her baby' is definitely still alive, and squirming.
"It looks like there is only one place left on this level to explore - anyone good with locks want to take a crack at it?"
Male Halfling DEAD
"Sure."
Still not fully trusting the creature (or at least its sanity), Belkar moves out to the other room, and carefully opens the door a crack, to peer inside.
Male Halfling DEAD
Belkar shrugs.
"I don't know; we haven't been in there yet."
Male Halfling DEAD
Belkar raises an eyebrow.
"Who/what/where is your baby...?"
Male Halfling DEAD
"Have you considered the benefits of being an independent contractor?"
Male Halfling DEAD
Belkar eyes the creature cautiously.
"Well, I have a whetstone that you could use to sharpen your scissors; you never know when you will need a newly-sharpened blade..."
Male Halfling DEAD
Whilst Kulga inspects the clothing, Belkar moves on to the next door.
Position updated.
Male Halfling DEAD
"If you are quite finished attacking the furniture...?"
Belkar re-sheathes his kukris, and moves to investigate the door to the west.
Male Halfling DEAD
Ah, then you need to update your stat block - it lists you as having 16 strength.
Male Halfling DEAD
@Gerrin: Shouldn't you be +3 / +1 on those damage rolls, from Strength, and then an additional +1 from Inspire Courage (taking your damage rolls to 11 and 12, respectively)...?
Male Halfling DEAD
Belkar gives a snort of surprise, and draws his weapons.
Male Halfling DEAD
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18.
With a shrug, Belkar moves to try the door to the west.
Male Halfling DEAD
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15.
Belkar raises an eyebrow when he finds the words scratched into the floor under the bed.
"I doubt it ended well for whomever wrote that..."
With a shrug, he moves on to the double doors to the south, and, after checking them for traps, opens them.
Male Halfling DEAD
Belkar shrugs.
"Well, we have cleared out this level; how about we go upstairs?"
After all, we don't know how many 'dungeon' levels there are, but there is (presumably) only one upper level...
Male Halfling DEAD
With a shrug of disinterest, Belkar tries his luck with the door to the east.
Position updated.
Male Halfling DEAD
"I suppose, loot is loot..."
Belkar then heads for the southern door out of the library.
Male Halfling DEAD
Groaning in annoyance, Belkar moves back down the stairs, to engage the feral little creature.
Double move.
Male Halfling DEAD
Surprised by the creature's sudden appearance, Belkar turns around and hustles towards it, kukris in hand.
Double move.
Male Halfling DEAD
@Kardess: Yes, it *does* function as acid, but only against creatures that are specifically listed as susceptible to salt - such as leeches.
Male Halfling DEAD
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16.
Belkar sighs.
"Once again an area sadly bereft of things to kill, or loot to collect."
With a shrug, he moves on to the single door to the west.
