About Barnacus Slapfoot
Barnacus Q. Slapfoot III is the son of THAT Barnacus Slapfoot, the notorious first mate of the Pirate Barque "Doom's Revenger." Barney, as he is known to his friends, grew up in the Varisian town of Riddleport with his mother Violetta, always hearing of the daring deeds of his erstwhile father. Falling in with the wrong crowd early on in life, he found acceptance and employment as a cutman for a gang of buccaneers. He became adept at slipping in close to sleeping merchant ships and cutting mooring lines... Well, when Violetta found out, she was devastated. In order to appease his mother, Barney swore to join the Pathfinders and follow in the footsteps of his maternal grandfather, whom Violetta held in esteem that he perhaps did not warrant. Arriving in Absalom with little to his name, Barney seeks to join the Pathfinders and make a name for himself... and maybe eclipse the reputation of that other Barnacus Slapfoot...
