10 minute background:
Step 1: Write 5 background and concept elements that you feel are important to your image of the character. These can be a concept overview, a list of important life events, a physical description, a personality profile...whatever you need to get an image in your mind.
1: As generic a barbarian as you can get. Huge, muscled, blue paint on his face. He just screams 'barbarian' when you look at him.
2: In Western Varisia born. His town was razed by giant raids, and he swore VENGEANCE.
3: Refers to himself in the third person. Speaks loudly and boldly at all times.
4: Learned how to be a Barbarian from a traveling band of Ulfen folk who were in the area to trade. They provided him with all sorts of DEEP BARBARIAN LORE. It was very deep.
5: The 'A' is for 'Amrit.' It's his actual name.
Step 2: List at least two goals for the character.
1: SMASH GIANTS.
2: GET LOOT.
Step 3: List at least two secrets about your character. One is a secret the character knows, one is a secret that involves her but that she is not actually aware of yet.
1: Completely capable of talking in NOT ALL-CAPS, but he refuses to do so because Barbarians are supposed to be LOUD AND FORCEFUL.
2: The Ulfen travelers he ran into trained him wrong as a joke. He has no idea.
Step 4: Describe at least three people that are tied to the character. Two of them are friendly to the character, one is hostile.
1: Mombarian, who was a bard. Probably dead now.
2: The ulfen trader who taught him the secrets of BARBARIAN.
3: That giant who killed his mombarian. SCREW THAT GUY, Barbarian wants him dead. He never learned the name.
Step 5: Describe three memories, mannerisms, or quirks that your character has.
1: "BARBARIAN NOT BOTHER CONTROLLING VOLUME OF BARBARIAN VOICE. AM SORT OF THING ANY PROPER BARBARIAN DO. DUH."
2: Despite his Barbarian-ness, he is not actually dumb. He frequently remembers things about those he meets just in case he needs it down the line to smash a face in.
3: The lance is for fighting giants and other things with reach. Not having acrobatics, Barbarian has taken one too many AoO's trying to get into melee for his own tastes.
