Balmoren will purchase a sleek light horse, trained for war. He will make sure it has a proper military saddle and saddle bags, before settling into the inn to enjoy the few days of downtime. He will spend the time playing with Compy and exploring the Tent City. Once everyone is ready, he will be as well.

I say we buy warhorses and put saddle bags on them. Then we're all mobile, can carry lots of stuff but we're not in a big wheeled box that might as well say "Rob me" on the side of it. I'm cool with hanging around town however long we need to buy/sell everything as well.

Perhaps not as vast, or fey as the southern ones, but trees nonetheless. I have no skill or desire for politics, and in the settled lands of the south we are certain to step on someone's toes and need to talk our way out of it. The northern trails will lead only to hunting, battle and exploration. Things far more suited to our talents if I don't miss my mark. Cousin, fear not, the Valley of Giants is as far from towns or cities as we're likely to get." Balmoren says, interjecting his opinion.

"Wouldn't a carriage just make us a target in a land with no law? Also, what if the roads fail. Would it not be better to simply ride battle-trained horses, and possibly bring a pack mule or two if necessary?" Balmoren asks Garret. I've got 227 gold left.

"Well, now that we know what our options are fellas, which way sounds good to you? I would think that as we are tasked with opening new lands to ATA influence we should head north. Perhaps the risk is greater, but no risk, no reward." Balmoren says to his companions once they are alone somewhere after the party. His hair is back to normal, and he is back in his patchwork performance/traveling clothes.

"I have an idea! Wait for just a minute." Balmoren says before walking off to find the General amongst the crowd. If he is talking to someone, Balmoren will wait for a pause in the conversation and then clear his throat and say "Good evening General, lovely home you have here. My name is Balmoren. My companions and I were wondering if you had any problems that we might be able to take care of for you? We're not members of any military or anything, so we have nothing regulating what we do. Anything unusual or difficult that you have been having trouble with?"

After a couple hours of mingling, Balmoren will seek out his traveling companions amongst the guests. "Well, don't we all look nice tonight! At least compared to when we're covered in mud and blood like normal." He giggles briefly at his own comment. "So guys, I've been thinking. Now that we wrapped up the ankheg thing, and we've taken care of the people of Hillvale. Where are we headed next?"

Before making his way to the general's house Balmoren extends his hair to its full five foot length, and animates it into hundreds and hundreds of tiny intricate braids. It has the overall effect of a snow covered willow draping its boughs down his back. He brushes Compy's scales to a fiery orange sheen, and dons the robes of his home village. I haven't worn these in ages He thinks as he slips the spring green fabric over his head. The robes, while nothing fancy for an elf, appear rather posh next to most human textiles. He conjures four globes of colored light, one blue, one red, one green, and the final yellow. They whirr playfully around him as he makes his way to the general's house. Once there, he commands Compy to stay close and no pooping inside! He mixes freely with the guests, not trying to converse with anyone, but smiling broadly at one and all. If someone approaches him, he will respond.

"Wonderful, we'll see you tonight gentlemen." Balmoren replies before wandering off to explore town some more and play with Compy. He will wander around for the rest of the afternoon oogling things and generally behaving like an overly curious child.

Balmoren looks around for beer or wine. Don't see any. he says, "Maybe we should finish this paperwork real quick, then go find a drink. Perhaps the gentlemen would allow us to treat them!" His hair begins wagging back and forth like an excited dog's tail.

"Hello! Well, we earned that money by slaying some Ankhegs that were attacking Hillvale. So we figured that they could use some help defending themselves, since we won't always be around. We came here and gave it to you all because we thought you would know who needs this equipment the most." Balmoren replies. "Why were you worried?" he looks quite concerned.

I'm just gonna keep being a happy-go-lucky wierdo with prehensile hair. Once I get some more spells per day going, I'll probably step into melee occasionally, as my hair can be a pretty brutal lockdown on one enemy. If there's an enemy caster or something I might rush them. Magic wise, I'll focus on buffs probably. Maybe the occasional crowd control. -shrug- We'll see what happens.

I'm enjoying the campaign so far. I like that you leveled us already. Is it going to be a sandbox type experience, or do you plan on implementing some sort of meta-plot? I'd enjoy it either way, just curious. Your maps and combat handling is great. I'd say they're the most "pro" of the five games I'm currently playing in (granted two haven't seen combat yet). All in all, it's good fun. Keep up the good work, and thanks for doing this!

"Well with this fancy new magic stick, it will be much easier to keep all of us alive. I can't help but be excited!" Balmoren says to Einar as he twirls the wand around pointing it at things and making a "bzzzz" noise every time it sights a target. "Now that we have all these weapons and armor, maybe we should go see the community liaison at the Keep. I'm sure he'd be happy for the help." As I shamelessly crib the DMs idea.

I will buy ten Longspears (50 GP), and ten sets of Wooden Armor (200 GP) for the villagers. As well as 5 light crossbows (175 GP). For myself I'd like to track down a Wand of Cure Light Wounds (750 GP), and four Acid Flasks (40 GP). Total expenses are 1,215 GP.

Once they find the rings and gems Balmoren is quite puzzled. "Now where did these come from? Hmmm...I wonder?" He begins waggling his fingers over the rings and muttering.
Once they reach the slopes of Lookout Point and are amongst the artisans he turns to Garret and says, "You have a friendly face. Maybe if you asked around someone could point us to a craftsman who could use these shells."

Balmoren elbows Einar lightly in the ribs a bit and whispers, "I think he was talking to Evrail." he then giggles a bit. Maybe that beard has grown into his ears? "Oddly enough, the man makes sense. It is unfortunate that Hillvale has problems with the Ankheg, but they seem to already have a militia system in place. Perhaps someone at Lookout Keep could be convinced to send some extra hands their way each spring during the planting. Strictly to help with any Ankhegs. They could take the shells along with food and board as payment." Balmoren says to his three companions. "Try as we might Garret, we can't make the world a perfect place."

Balmoren will tell the people about the fortune telling that led to his leaving the troupe, and wish them the best before heading on to the ATA with the others... Upon sighting the pompous man in the group Balmoren stops and turns to his companions and says, "That must be the man in charge. He looks rather silly in those fancy clothes. I probably shouldn't be the one to talk to him, I'm not much for business and people like him are often put off by my strangeness." Squatting down he picks up Compy and holds the reptile like a cat in front of his body. Don't want him getting out of hand around here.

When I was with the troupe, did we ever perform there? "I see. Well perhaps it would be a good idea to work out some sort of trade deal between the ATA representative in Tent City and this hamlet. The hamlet could benefit from the protection and money, and maybe the ankheg shells would be valuable enough to make it worth the their time. If nothing else, we can sell what we have and look for more work." He turns to look at the sheriff, "In the mean-time remember, we are agents of the ATA sir. So don't be too hard on them, the ATA just solved your problem." He smiles winningly.

Balmoren listens to the chatter with interest. "Come to think of it I just joined up with you guys without really knowing what we're doing. You've mentioned the ATA twice now Garret. Wanna fill me in on your, well I guess our, mission?" He rests his chin in both his palms, elbows down on the table and looks at the others intently awaiting an explanation.

"Yahooo!" Balmoren cheers as Evrail strikes down the beast. "You really are a monster hunter, cousin! That was great." He begins to swing his bow around in the air making wooshing noises, while his prehensile hair forms vaguely insect-like shapes and 'fights' the bow. "Guess we can go back and tell the sheriff everything's taken care of. Wonder how much they'll pay us for these shells at the keep?"

Balmoren cheers as the baby falls, and levels his bow at the other angry parent. Feels a bit like genocide....hmm...oh well.
