back in 3.5 i used to cast explosive runes on sheets of parchment.. then in battle move it in front of enemys using mage hand.. if they glance at it and see the one letter on it they take damage. it was extremely broken. mage hand got mvp..

Your mindset changes so that you relish combat and you can't cast spells, even from magic items.

don't think it quite works the same now Since the introduction of spell like ablities. if a sorcerer used transformation. then wanted to grow claws to attack with natural weapons it wouldn't work. I agree its eaiser to just say no magic at all. rather than go back and figure out what works and what doesn't.

ahh.. that explains alot. and makes alot more sense. I've been wondering most of the day.. if it worked like a kind of rage. What about potions? This is the most awesome-thing I've heard in a while.(just pulled out the 2.5 handbook.) In someways i think the new version is better damage wise. btw are their any rules for berserk in pathfinder that you have found?

now if it was worded.. While gaining those physical advantages, it prevents spellcasting and the ability to use any magical devices, that would make more sense but that is 3.5 wording.. on tenser's transformation. The fact that it prevents spell-casting raises another problem. could you dismiss the spell

But i do dare say thats a hard rulling. but i see your point although can't and won't are two different things.

if a wizard uses the spell transformation on himself making it so wizard class was no longer in his list. So technicaly as a fighter he uses a ring of spell storing but to activate it he uses magic device and 1 is rolled. Now is the ring of spell storning Not usable for 24 after the transformation spell wears off or is it just not usable with use magic device for 25 hours. Long story short Other than potions I'm trying to cast spells while in transformtion.

Now on the other side of the spectrum and a different question enterely, If a level 8 illusionist wizard which as a class ablity of swift action greater invis, can you use it while transformationsince its part of the wizards arcane's school ablity or does transformation make you lose your School ablities?

Yes you would have to add the +5 if you are not caster level 12(it is required), but the weapon must be a +1 magic weapon before you can add any special properties to it.

The +5 is what allows you to bypass requirements.

its gonna be +1 magical weapon with the 1000 gp base cost. My Dm is gonna love this. he already expects me to break the game somehow. Already got a +11 craft weapons SKill and +10 Spellcraft. so if i take a 10 i cant fail. Awesome thankx

It will be a +1 spell storing weapon (effective bonus +2). See pg. 468 of the Core Rulebook: "A weapon with a special ability must also have at least a +1 enhancement bonus."

Base Price 8,000 gp/crafting cost 4,000 gp.

Yeah unfortually its the way i allocated skill points 5 ranks +3INT, +3 Class bonus= 11 Spellcraft only has 4 ranks. I thought it would be interesting to make a fighter mage without the prestige classes, like the way most of us did in 2.0. aka Live with the spell failure and use magic to augment there fighting abilities. Fortunately i was allowed to take Heirloom weapon trait which adds +1 to my weapon attack and i selected Long spear as my weapon of choice. and 18 str doesn't hurt either. two handed weapon + str bonus my min damage is at least 7, 6 damage from 1 1/2 str and rolling at least a 1 on the die. Heirloom weapon gives me a misc +1 to attack. and since its a bonded weapon i get another +1 and being level 5 total i get +2 to attack (totall of +8). thats of assumming i dont bull str myself with still spell. Level 5 with 44 hit points helps too. Thank you con bonus and toughness feat. and if your wondering what plans i have. once i'm level 8 i can go into greater invisiblity as a swift action) That should help my glass jaw.

I've spent most of the night reading articles, the books, erratas trying to figure out if its possible to craft Spell storing onto a bonded item with a level 5 wizard. The Cl is 12, and it does say creator must be a caster of at least 12th level; Price +1 bonus. although it doesn't say required. couldn't i just add +5 to the dc check and imbue the bonded weapon with spell storing?

Well i'm helping a friend level up her Animal companion and i found in the books. thatif it no longer becomes an animal.. The DC for handling that animal increases the checks increases by 5

Does an animal companion get an ability increase every 4th hit die like any other creature?

Nothing in the animal companion sidebar says to do this, though base attack, base saves, and skill points are all covered in the description. The companion also gets two ability increases every other level which seems like more than enough. I am playing a druid for the first time and had never noticed this omission/vagueness in the rules before.
