We have been doing many experiments as of late to make the perfect material for the creatures in the lab. Try as we might the creatures are too strong and break whatever we used. So we tried starting with one of the creatures DNAs to make something as tough as them.

We started with a hybrid doppelganger-illithid, it was crafted to be the perfect spy but also mimic any material. We were successful in recreating its properties though to our surprise this ball of material that we made is actually sentient.

Perhaps this might be the influence of an illithid's potent mine we are unsure. However what we gained is a very sturdy ball of what looks like mercury. It is capable of shape shifting to mimic most lesser humanoids extremely well. It even gains the colouring and clothing of those it mimics. What is more intriguing is this creature which we have affectionately called B.L.O.B does not display emotions, rather it copies the emotions it sees and plays a facade. This would be immensely useful as a spy as then it will never have any real attachment. The only problem is getting Blob to lie while doing this. Blob seems to mimic people for the fun of it as opposed to any gain, I guess because it has no emotions it also has no drive.

Blob is very simple, he is just a ball of mercury about 3foot in diameter. Blob moves around quite quickly as if 'rolling' around on the floor. At any point it can meld itself into a humanoid in a moments whim. Recently we backed Blob into a corner to see how it would defend itself, it ended up shedding bits of itself off and they changed into the creatures Blob was fighting. The battle was bloody and short, the original creatures we had sent in were quite confused and were promptly slaughter for undue hesitation. Blob has been an interesting subject, we now have placed it alongside other creatures in the lab to see how it would react to working alongside them for survival. I do hope it gains a personality of its own and maybe a desire to destroy or take advantage of other creatures.
