Aviel comes from a merchant family that started their business in a most Chellaxian way, through agreeing to an unusual deal.
She was one of three children and during her childhood while her brothers both played integral roles in the family business she struggled to find her place.
Eventually her talents were put to good use when the family came up with a scheme whereby she would join a prestigious military unit and then through her the family business would gain contacts and knowledge.
The plan worked well for a time and the family business flourished supplying materials to the southern colonies, but tragedy struck when her parents were killed by a raid from Shackles pirates.
Having lost their parents and their only ship, the business struggled, but through savvy business sense, her brothers managed to keep the business afloat.
A new plan emerged and Aviel resigned her military position so that she would venture out to explore her brother's hunches and leads about possible new trade routes that would make the business profitable again.
The current plan was that she head to Sandpoint where her brother had heard of a new glassblowing factory.
His sources led him to believe that the craftsmanship was of exceptional quality and as he had never heard of Sandpoint before, he was confident that they might be able to be the first to sign a deal with this new enterprise.
Aviel was to go to Sandpoint and work towards gaining the confidence and support of the locals, either through diplomacy or by volunteering her services to the local powers with the idea that if she gained a favourable reputation, any trade negotiations would be easier. Helping the locals would also allow her to potentially uncover new opportunities.
