Liberty's Edge

I'm back and this time with yet another character creation question!
As you may have guessed from the title I am unsure if I should go Fighter or Ranger into Lantern Bearer.

So first off, I'll be playing Wrath of the Righteous and will be going with mythic champion.
I'm aiming for a mostly ranged character making lots of use of my bow but also no slouch if I need to use my rapier. Both base classes seem like good options, I just can't seem to decide which would be more beneficial. I like the bonus feats and weapon training and armor training (probably just go with a chain shirt) from Fighter and Ranger focused on archery seems like it would be useful, and maybe even favored terrain but I'm unsure of the environment in the campaign. Kinda feel like Fighter edges out here but I can't be sure.

I do have rolls for stats already as well.

So I figure I can make a pretty darn good character with those, prob dump CHA since I'm not going for an animal companion if I do go Ranger.

Not sure if I've left out anything important, but I really appreciate any advice, tips or tricks.

Liberty's Edge

As titled, I'll be making my first caster and going with Arcanist no less. I've played a few short homebrews in the past and had always gone with something like a Rogue or Fighter.
I know that a spellcaster is a whole different kind of animal and while knowledge of the basic certainly help, there's still plenty I don't know. To begin, I've read over the Arcanist entry in the playtest pdf a few times now to make sure I understand the main class features and how my spell casting, spells per day and prepared spells will work. Now I'm getting to the finer points and this is where I feel I could use some direction.
I've looked over some of the spell ratings and Wizard guides and while the former is certainly helpful the latter ends up seeming sort of moot because I'm not a Wizard. To sum up what I've got down so far;

Half-Elf
Dex 16
Con 14
Cha 15
Str 12
Int 20 (+2 from racial)
Wis 16

I'm thinking Eschew Materials for my first feat but I wouldn't mind relying on a spell component pouch if there is something better to choose. Then comes spell selection, I know there's probably a few staples like magic missile and color spray but there's so many even just from the wizard/sorcerer list that I'm not sure what to go with. At first level I can start with 8 level 1 spells after figuring in my Int modifier and have all level 0 already in my spellbook.

As for my gear and weapons I was just going to use the wizard kit listed in UE as a guide and pick up a staff and dagger.

Anyways, I think this should make a good start point if anyone would be kind enough to offer up some advice, tips or tricks. I'm really excited for this character and really appreciate any help to make it great and fun.

Liberty's Edge

I'm planning to create an Arcanist for a Wrath of the Righteous campaign and downloaded the latest playtest pdf so I can get started. I then saw the blog update from a few days ago, with a couple new exploits listed and such, and was wondering if someone had created a sort of "updated" file that would be best to use for my character. Basically something where everything I need is all in one place so I can reference it when needed.

If not are the only changes made so far just the ones listed in the blog update or is there anything else I should be aware of?

Liberty's Edge

So this is going to seem a little silly... ok it's downright silly, but every time I look through UC and flip past the artwork for the Rogue section in class archetypes I can't help but wonder what archetype it's supposed to portray.

Has anyone else wondered this or am I just odd in this respect? Also, does anyone happen to know?

Liberty's Edge

I was reading through the Dragoon archetype and got a little confused by some of the descriptions and Paizo's depiction of a Dragoon.

Can polearms be used or are they strictly limited to spears, since they have the Spear Training if it is limited then obviously no sense in using a polearm really.

As for Weapon Mastery it indicates they must choose the lance, though while I understand it's not entirely indicative, the artwork doesn't look much like a lance in the traditional sense. I'd rather not use a traditional lance anyways.
So as far as functionality goes, would it all work the same?

Let me start with kindly asking that all comments, arguments etc. regarding the Cavalier being a mount centric class be left at the door. I realize there is a focus on having a mount but there are many aspects of the class that I really like that a class like the Fighter for example just doesn't have. It may help to state that I'm going for a "white knight" type of character and don't have much interest in playing a Paladin.

With that said I've been looking over Ultimate Combat and the APG to try and work out a good setup for a Cavalier with less focus on being mounted and something more like a knight errant. A travelling force for good, who is just and chivalrous without being bound by the same sort of strictness as a Paladin and of course minus the focus on being mounted.

I will say that I'm not as familiar with everything as I would like and thus I sort of have a feeling that I may be underestimating the Cavaliers ability while not mounted in the first place. If this is the case please feel free to school me :P

I've been working on making a druid for my next campaign and messing around with which race I would like to play. I had been considering either a gnome or human, then whilst going through the bestiary 2 I found the Vulpinal and have been set on rolling one.

So after some searching I found Zerzix's topic in the conversions section,"Savage Species" Rulebook Conversion. While I know this is a great resource I still don't have any idea regarding what I need to do or how to use the pdf Zerzix has created.
If anyone knows how to do so I would greatly appreciate any assistance in making this happen.
