Appearance:
Askan is about 6' tall, and clearly exercises. His abdominal muscles are clearly defined under the exceptionally tight black shirt he wears. He also wears a heavy jacket that hangs to his hips and black pants. Stitched and hidden underneath the back of his jacket is a red hood and mask, which he will occasionally pull out to cover his entire face. The mask has two small eyeholes but is otherwise featureless except for its striking color.

Backstory: Childhood:
*pantpant*

Alanna, wait! Askan ran to the edge of the rooftop, but skidded to a stop as he watched his adopted sister sail from the rooftop through the window across the way, a good thirty feet.

Hurry! We're going to be late! She cried out. The two were jumping through the Shingles as they were on their way to see the visitor's parade. Some lady was visiting from elsewhere was visiting. All they knew was that her name was Ileosa, but their friend Mr Ansel said that she was going to marry the king, and that's why there was a huge festival and a parade.

Askan couldn't make the jump, so he had to scurry around to find a ramp to carry him down there, but Alanna was very far ahead. Askan never quite caught up with her, but he saw her jump down to the street level when they made it to the street where the parade was. However, he lost her in the crowd. That's where she was last seen. They all said she had vanished, run away from life in the Shingles and from Askan, but he knew better. She had been taken. He went to Ansel to ask him to teach him how to fight, but Ansel couldn't help. He gave Askan a name, though: Nassini. A cousin of the famous Vencarlo Orsini, though he was not a fencer, Nassini may be able to help the boy find and rescue his sister.

Adolescence:
Nassini was less famous than his cousin but no less devoted to absolutely brutal training of his martial pupils. The man worked Askan to the bone every day, making him sneak into the kitchen every night past dogs to get dinner and fight his personal bodyguard daily. Askan was trained to make quick and vicious assaults on enemies from the shadows and to make interrogations in the field. Nassini often told him about Blackjack, not condemning or praising the man but pointing out the effectiveness of his tactics. The hidden identity of Blackjack inspired Askan to use a mask of his own: he chose a red hood and mask because of the theatrical value, and started insisting that witnesses refer to him as Fastfist.

Investigation and Recent Years:
The effect of a masked vigilante who beat the information from the street-level criminals was tangible. The People of The Shingles hate a snitch, but they hate broken legs more. There eventually came a name: Gaedren Lamm. Evidently Lamm was a powerful small-scale crime lord who liked to kidnap children and adolescents to work the streets for him, begging, stealing... other things. While every kid in The Shingles has probably nicked some bread or fruit in his time, it's a whole other thing to get involved with someone like Lamm so this news greatly troubled Askan.

The problem came with what came after getting Lamm's name: finding him. Lamm worked through his kids, so his location was known only by them and they were all either deeply scared or fiercely loyal, making interrogating them difficult, and that was assuming you could catch one in the first place, since they were all picked and known by Lamm personally there was no need for identifying marks or passwords, so the children looked like any of the other hundreds of children darting about getting into trouble. It's been 6 years now, but Fastfist feels he is closing in on Lamm, and possibly his big sister.

Personality:
Askan is brash and easily angered. He has a massive rebellious streak, and an equally prominent distrust of authority. On account of his poverty, he has always been slightly mistreated by the more well-to-do members of society, Nassini excepted, and thus he does not like them. The authorities also always seem to favor the wealthier people as well, leading to difficulties trusting them. The Marines, Hellknights, Guards, they're all the people who refused to look for Lamm to Askan.
