Background & Personality:
Ashora grew up on the family ranch near the sandy Culain Hils, tending to the grox herds but always dreaming of something bigger. Growing up, she became a crack shot guarding the herd from skirks--lizardlike creatures, very fast and very venomous, that liked to bite grox and then wait for the animals to sicken and die. Ashora spent a lot of nights sitting in the back of a truck watching for the nocturnal creatures, and picking them off with a stub rifle when they tried to rush the herd. While she took pride in her skill, what she really want was to travel, and every chance she got she'd slip off to town to listen to the traders tell their stories.
When word spread that sleepy Serenus would be tithing its first regiment, many people were pessimistic, believing that the world's food tithes ought to be sufficient. Not Ashora--there's an entire galaxy out there waiting to be explored, and the young woman volunteered almost immediately, to her family's horror. While boot camp was brutal and suppressed her spirits for a time, now that the regiment is on the move Ashora's irrepressible cheer is back. Green as grass, she see's her service as an unfortunate chore that needs seeing to before she can get to the real reason she's here: to see other worlds!
