Ash is healed of half of the total damage roll when he uses Drink of my Foes, even if the target had less than that many hit points remaining. The healing and vitality traits are for the purposes of healing Ash, regardless of the traits of the foe (as neither of the two traits directly try to affect the foe). i.e. Ash can heal himself with Drink of my Foes using Barrow's Edge against undead foes. * * * Family History of the Williams Family:
4601 AR (Earth 1806) Alkenstar founded. 4605 AR (Earth 1810) Joe Williams (Ashley J. Williams' grandfather) is born in Alkenstar. His parents own and operate a hardware store in Smokeside. On Earth: the Great Comet of 1811 4628 AR (Earth 1833) Joe Williams (23 years old) gets caught in a mana storm, which transports him to a small abandoned cabin in central Michigan, U.S.A. on Earth during the Great Meteor Storm of 1833 (aka "The Night the Stars Fell") 4641 AR (Earth 1846) Joe Williams (35 years old) becomes a father. Brock Williams is born on Earth during the Splitting of Biela's Comet. 4653 AR (Earth 1858) As Brock (12 years old) watches Donati's Comet with his father, Joe (47 years old), Joe tells his son of the planet he is from. Brock thinks his father is telling a tall tale. 4655 AR (Earth 1860) During the Great Meteor Procession of 1860, Brock (14 years old) witnesses his father Joe (49 years old) dissipating into thin air. Joe was transported back home to Alkenstar on Golarion. 4656 AR (Earth 1861) During the Great Comet of 1861, unbeknownst to Brock (15 years old) his mother was killed by a hag who then took her form and pretended to be her. Things seemed normal to Brock until that evening when his mother put the moves on him - Brock has his first encounter with a hag. He killed the hag. He lives a hermit's life for the next 2 decades, knowing that monsters can appear human and take on the appearance of people he knows. 4677 AR (Earth 1882) Brock gives in to the woman who has loved and desired him since they were teenagers. Later that year Ashley Joe Williams is born during the Great Comet of 1882. 4705 AR (Earth January 1910) Ashley and his new bride go to a remote cabin for their honeymoon. They get snowed in at the cabin due to the severe winter storms. Unbeknownst to Ash at this time was that a coven of hags had been using the cabin for dark rituals. Without Ash knowing, they had taken his new bride and were taking turns impersonating her during the next two months. When the unusually high temperatures of March melted the snow so it was easy to get out of the cabin, Ash discovered the ugly truth and more; his wife's dismembered body and three cribs in the shed. Two of the cribs each had a baby girl. The door opens and (sweet hag's natural appearance description) screams at him to leave his children alone. Confused at her words claiming he is the father of the infant girls, the sweet hag attempts to kill Ash. Ash grabs a hatchet from the workbench and swings it at the hag. She catches his wrist, takes the hatchet from him and forces his right hand onto the workbench and she uses the hatchet to sever Ash's right hand. In shock, Ash watches the hideous creature bend over to pick up one of the infants. Newfound paternal protective instinct kicks in and Ash takes the hatchet in his left hand and hacked her in the neck repeatedly until her head sloughed off her torso. (The hatchet was Ash's initial Titan's Breaker ikon, which he gave to his daughter, Brandy J. Williams.) As the infant girls start to cry, he tells them, "No need to cry, girls. Daddy's here now." Thinking things were over, he is taken aback as another hideous creature (a sea hag) walks into the shed, wielding a kris (type of dagger), which she pierces Ash with, slashing him in the torso, with blood spurting over the cribs and infants. A paternal rage fueled Ash to push past the pain and he manages to grasp the curved dagger from the sea hag's grip, which he quickly plunges her in her left eye, the hag's life force healing some of his wounds. (The kris was Ash's initial Barrow's Edge weapon ikon, which he gave to his daughter, Candy J. Williams.) Ash picks up the two girls and walks out of the shed and heads back towards the cabin. As he is about to open the door to the cabin, the door opens, revealing his wife holding and breastfeeding an infant girl... "You can't have her! This one is mine!" as the form of his wife shifts to reveal another hideous-looking creature (a storm hag). She rushes by Ash and heads into the woods with her prize. Ash gently places the girls inside the cabin and chases after the storm hag, carrying from what he has gathered must be another daughter of his, though he can't wrap his head around how he could be a father as he consummated his marriage less than three months ago... He loses the hag's trail and returns to the cabin. Ash cares for his two daughters he saved while he searches the nearby woods as they slept, looking for their sister. He buries Candace's body and burns the bodies of the two hags. After a few weeks of searching during very unusual stormy weather for March and the beginning of April, he finds the storm hag and the other infant. She looks up into the sky, laughing, "You're too late, my way back is finally here!" as she and the infant she is holding dissipate into thin air. Ash looks up into the sky and sees Halley's Comet. Ash takes the girls to his parents' house, to discover his mother heartbroken. She describes his father vanishing like how the hag and his other daughter did. For the next three years, with the help of his mother, Ash raised his two girls, Candy and Brandy in his cabin. Brandy was named due to the only thing that would sooth her toothing cries was soaking one of his fingers in brandy to soothe her cries. Candy was named because she kept reaching for the hard candies in Ash's pocket whenever she got close to them. (Golarion 4708 AR (Earth 1913) While holding his daughters in his arms and telling them a bedtime story by their bedroom window, Ash notices an unusual celestial activity in the night sky. He quickly got the girls' fur coats on them and carries them outside, where the three of them see the 1913 Great Meteor Procession. Ash runs, carrying the girls to the shed, where he had put the book the hags had used for their dark rituals. He gathers his hatchet the kris dagger, then with the girls back in his arms, recites some incantation he does not really understand, hoping it will take him and his girls to wherever their sister and his father are. The vortex he summons transports them to the Mana Wastes near the northern border of Geb. Ash sees smog northwest of where he and his daughters are, and remembers his father's tales about what his grandfather had told him of the City of Smog. Fighting a lot of undead along the way, he makes it to Alkenstar. During his time in the Mana Wastes before making it to Alkenstar, he comes across some pathfinders who are fighting an army of darkness (of zombies and skeletons led by ghouls). During his time fighting the army of darkness, Ash finds a corpse with a double-barreled pistol glimmering from the moonlight - and uses it in an unexpected and spectacular fashion which helps turn the tide for him and the pathfinders against the army of darkness. The double-barreled pistol was Ash's initial Starshot weapon ikon. Ash eventually makes it to Alkenstar and as luck would have it, finds his grandfather's family hardware store, and is happily surprised to see his father Brock is the owner. The family reunion becomes more joyous when a young girl walks into the room, the same age as Brandy and Candy, who asks Brock, "Papa, who are they?" Brock gives his son a knowing look to confirm what Ash is hoping, and tells the girl, "I'm your Daddy, sweetheart." Brock told his son after the girls went to bed that by the time he had seen the storm hag get caught up in the same mana storm that brought him to Golarion from Earth, he tried to rescue the girl, but the storm hag had gotten away with the child. It took him two years of checking out rumours until he finally located the hag and slayed her. The hag had named the girl Ashleigh. (Ash gave his initial Starshot weapon ikon, the double-barreled pistol, to his daughter, Ashleigh J. Williams.) Ash got a sterling dynamo hand to replace the hand he had lost saving Brandy and Candy. As the girls grew up Brandy and Candy developed witch abilities while Ashleigh did not. Ashleigh has the creative mind of an inventor, and created a weapon innovation uses a right handed gauntlet, which her father's sterling dynamo hand as her inspiration to design such a weapon for herself. On their sixteenth birthday, all three of his girls told their they want to enroll at the prestigious Grand Lodge in Absalom to train to become pathfinders. Not being able to say no to his girls he told the pathfinders he would accept the field commission they had been offering him for years if they accepted all three of his girls into the Grand Lodge..The Pathfinder higher-ups countered with Ash joining the Knights of Lastwall and use his skills at fighting undead hordes to the Knights' efforts. Ash accepted their counter offer. The girls are 19 and recently finished their three years of study at the Grand Lodge. The Pathfinder Society offered Ash another field commission to join them for his impressive efforts fighting undead hordes for the past three years. Ash had refused their initial offer to join them years ago because he did not want to be an absentee father, he accepted the offer this time, hoping to be given assignments that will allow him to continue to look our for his daughters. In 4726 AR: Ashleigh J. Williams, Brandy J. Williams and Candy J. Williams are 19 years old. Ashley J. Williams is 46 years old. Brock Williams is 82 years old. * * * |
