Arolex Vintrush was born to a minor noble family in the south of Cheliax. His mother’s innocence was sacrificed in exchange for the opportunity to extend his family’s reach. Unfortunately, His grandfather’s skill at negotiation was far less than he’d thought. The Vintrush family was nearly wiped out and the remnants were scattered throughout the Inner Sea.
Arolex ended up on the streets. He learned to avoid contact with other urchins after receiving a number of beatings. One day, Arolex wandered into an Infernal temple. He was mesmerized by the similarities between his own reflection and the depictions of Asmodeus. He begged the priests to learn more about their patron. The head priest obliged, either the child would show promise or he could be sacrificed.
Arolex turned out to be a dedicated and talented pupil. He mastered both The Asmodean Disciplines & the Asmodean Monograph in short order. His dedication to his new god was unquestioned.
The high priest saw Arolex’s progress and soon started to provide him with direction and new paths of study. The high priest believed he could lead the young castaway into the priesthood. Unfortunately for the priest, Arolex dedication led him to review the records of the temple. He discovered the high priest had been making deals that weakened the church.
Arolex confronted the high priest and, filled with the power of Asmodeus’ wrath, struck him down. Arolex immediately dedicated his life to hunting any who sought to weaken or defile his master’s works and interests. The church supplied him with the means to begin his great work, and directed him towards the budding conflict in Isgar. His dedication and vigor could be directed to any rebel trying to loosen Asmodeus grip on that nation.
