About Arodel Lightbringer

Master Mathias Shaw died in battle, though no man of great renown he was honorable and steadfast. His death left his devoted wife, Anika Berlyn Shaw, shattered and as she was keeping the vigil for his funeral the intensity of her love and devotion to her god brought the attention of an angel, who taking pity on her took the guise of her husband and laid with her that night to give her a child.
When she woke the next day, the previous evening was as if a dream yet she found herself with child and swore that it was her husband's spirit returned from the grave that gave her the child. She bore her child and devoted herself to the church and so Arodel grew up in and around the church during his childhood. His exceptional long life did leave him without his mother at an early age, the priests believed him to be blessed and sought to bring him into the ranks of the paladins.
Upon reaching adolescence he was given over to the care of The Order of the Blue Rose, wherein he took quickly not to the paladins, but the cavalier. He was fostered by Sir Reginald Windsor, and trained in the customs and courtesies of an Emissary.
As he grew he enjoyed his time spent with the horses. He was charged with caring for his master's horse and enjoyed it so much he began to learn the art of the farrier. Spending so much time in the stables he felt he could almost speak with the them, until one day he did. Surprised but overjoyed he there after has often times enjoyed the company of horses and other equine as much as any person.
His full name was given him for an extraordinary event which occurred one day in sword practice. It was a long day of sword and shield, the master-at-arms, Darian, was drilling him relentlessly and though driven to near complete exhaustion he felt exhilarated. "You never sweat," complained Darian, "you will sweat this day if I have to come at you till my arm falls off!" Darian was pressing him hard and had Arodel on his heels when suddenly Arodel felt himself filled with a powerful vigor that coursed through his body and made his sword arm feel ablaze!
It was the look on Darian's face that he noticed first as turning the tide of the battle he pressed the attack and sent Darian back peddling. Only after Darian checked Arodel's sword the last time did Arodel notice his sword was blazing with light. Ever after being known as Arodel "Sunsteel."
Upon completing his initial training he was charged to deliver justice for one year as a journeyman emissary for the order. He was to bring peace where he may and dispense justice when necessary, recording his deeds to be reviewed by the elders of his order upon his return at the end of his one year. It was during the Summer of this year he found him self in the company of his fellow adventurers...
