Arc Perdu le Rouge never imagined that his life would turn out the way it did. Arc's family was well-known for their bravery in the ongoing conflict with the Kings of Aragon and maintaining their loyalty to the Papacy even during the schism between Avignon and Rome. It was into this long tradition of militant piety that Arc was born. He grew up studying magic and martial arts, and under the tutelage of several prominent scholars, he developed his gift for blending arcana with swordplay. It was only during a duel with a rival student that Arc began to tap into something else entirely: a deep, primeval sense of avarice and superiority. Because of this sudden surge of volatile emotion, he overwhelmed his opponent in a furious display of martial prowess. When he came to his senses, the other boy was dead, and he was forced to flee the scene before the shocked onlookers could call for his arrest. With his life in shambles and no future to look forward to, he struck out for the east, vowing to learn to control his bloodlust and hoping for passage to a new beginning elsewhere in Europe. However, lingering accusations that his powers and deeply-hidden tendency toward violence came from the devil himself will certainly not make his journey an easy one...
