With all the adventurers claiming they can rid the town of it's tormentor, some people seem astonished and relieved, and an old woman actually begins to weep, probably from joy. The large man seems to soften, due to the fast words and good rolls of the adventurers

"Sorry for the not-so warm welcome, but we haven't had much good news of late.. That damnable wizard is destroying us from the outside in and no one has even come down our road for weeks."

Some of the members of the crowd begin offering up whatever bits of money they have, trying to pay you in advance for deeds undone. You're pretty much surrounded at this point by poor farmers and their copper coins.

Amira, as you heard the name Delmvar at the beginning it didn't ring a bell at all, and then while talking about the wizard, and being that you're in a farming town.. You seem to remember hearing about a Delmvar, a member of the order being quite interested in plant life, and even performing odd experiments with sentient creatures and plants. (knowledge Arcane skill check result: 25)

OUTSIDE

As Roland searches nearby for something to stand on, he notices in the sky to the south, in the failing light, what looks like a shimmering sheet of gold which hums loudly...first it's only on the horizon but as it gets closer, he can see that it's some kind of swarm and the buzzing sound gets louder as it gets closer.

As you shout out, the large man sneers to himself and his fellow farmers "Galen Stormwalker, we have a lot of troubles lately.. As you can no doubt see, we have no food and no livelihood.. We've been beset by goblin attacks and poor Myton lost his business with that inn being burned!" He almost jumps off the raised platform at the end of the room and walks toward Galen. "That wizard kills our plants and now he's trying to finish the job by destroying the only other source of income around here!"

Roland hears an odd sound, almost like a low thunder but constant and more dull-sounding, approaching from the south.

hey hey

Just apologize for missing basically two days... I should be posting a few times daily most days, but once at a minimum. Sent me messages andwhatnots if you have any concerns, or post here

As you enter the large, stone hall.. You note that there are probably a couple of hundred people here. All of them are human, save for maybe a halfling or two, and an old half orc. The hall is lined with benches which are full. There is a large, middle-aged man dressed in simple clothes shouting at the crowd and whipping them into an excited jumble of conversation and yells.

As you enter the hall, you are hardly noticed as the leader's voice echoes throughout. "And now you tell me that we're supposed to wait for help to come from the cities?! Why can't we help ourselves?! We survived that grey grub infestation two seasons ago! We can handle a few goblins or a crazy old man!" some of the crowd stands up and begins to cheer, others don't seem too enthusiastic about what's just been said.

Meanwhile.... everyone who did not decide to go in, make me a perception check please.

uhhh couldn't the same be said of pronouncing 'rogue' properly?

And why THAC0...why not just count up, and call it an attack bonus?!

owait..

You approach the large building as your comrades begin scouting/scaling. You can hear a loud, gruff voice within yelling 'AND he seems to have those lousy Yar-gocks under his control now! How long before they come and try to kill us in our sleep or burn down the rest of our homes?!'

The sound of stomping feet and loud voices seems to echo throughout the night, even though the building has fortified stone walls.

Sunset: The boy points to a large building, the largest in the small group of buildings. It stands twice as tall as the rest, and is made mostly of stone. You assume this building would be the safest and most defensible spot.

Holg steps softly and quietly, scanning the area as the sun goes down. He doesn't notice anything out of the ordinary aside from the burnt inn.

Galen follows the other two scouting.

Amira, you don't notice anything beyond the mundane at the moment, it seems as though someone simply torched the place.

Roland slips effortlessly into the gathering shadows of dusk, not seeing anything of note.

Night is beginning to fall as the three skirt the area of the buildings.

The boy looks up at the strangers, noting their weapons and such, and beaming with excitement. He greedily takes the food and says, spitting all the while, "Old Ramman is in charge... Da' says he's going seee-nile though... whassat mean?!"

He stops to burp

"Delmvar's the wizard who killed all the plants...Da's at a meeting with all the other grown-ups... he says I'm big enough to take care of myself so I stayed home to clean up. They're all at the town hall... talking about what to do..."

The boy seems overwhelmed, but is obviously overjoyed to talk to strangers, and adventurers no less!

He looks to Sunset and smiles "My name's Ebb... Named after Da'..The inn burnt down last night.. Da' says it's probably the goblins that did it! Goblins!"

After seeing the half-orc, he takes a couple of steps back toward his house...then, realizing this man is with the others, he answers "I dunno where you could stay... how long would you stay?!"

The area is still devoid of any other activity.

(no worries about such checks Holg, it will help speed things up with any kind of checks you feel should be made... if you do something you think requires a check, feel free to roll it. if you choose the wrong skill, I'll use whatever is appropriate and apply the modifiers to the same roll.)

Holg: There are far too many footprints, and all of them seem to go in every direction, as though amateurs have inadvertently obscured any clues that may have been present.

Sunset: The shield looks to be a sign that marked this building as a watering hole of some kind.

Galen: The closest house you approach, a smaller single floor building, produces a young, fat boy after you call out. He seems dirty...seeing a well-armoured and equipped warrior stuns him for a moment, then he remembers himself
"You're here to help?! You came to kill Delmvar?! Da' says it's impossible to get to him.." He stares up at you, starry-eyed.

DMTools Dice Roller

Invisible castle seems better, since it has you enter your character's name (no cheating) so we shall use that.

Invisible Castle

So Sunshine it's pretty self explanatory, let us know if you need help...took me a couple of minutes to figure it out...basically once you roll, there will be links underneath the result you can use to show the roll. Also there's a handy dandy tool that will show me all of your character's rolls under that name... heheh

You must double up your HP Sunshine, we're borrowing 1 HD from second level, so that leaves you with 18, not 9

In general, I would say you can use the DMTOOLS Dice roller and post the results... it's quite simple and I'll show you how to use it if needs be. In the future, I will request most rolls and have you roll them. A proactive perception check once in a while is welcome of course.

Then I would assume it's best practice to let everyone post once before I describe what happens, unless of course the group becomes split at any point.

For future reference, all OOC chat will occur here:

The Bountiful Barrel

Hey folks... here's where an inn and tavern used to stand... we'll use it for OOC chat :D

Yes it would seem I get a bit more flowery in the language I use to describe scenes, which is a plus in my mind.

Also any background you've chosen is great and I can do some work behind the scenes to incorporate it. Everything looks good thus far!

And in case anyone needs this link as well, it leads to the OOC chat... so head there from now on I suppose :D

The Bountiful Barrel

No no, I'M doing it wrong... Your character is fine as is. In my attempt to be a good, detail-oriented DM I seem to have made some mistakes :D

Ahahah my mistake... still shifting the old rusted gears in my head!

This way to adventure!

Welcome
All
To
our story!

As you walk down the road, you realize that a terrible curse has indeed beset this land. The summer sun, usually so welcome, now dries the land and the dirt cracks. The land seems sad.. you see rotted vegetation turned under half-tilled clumps of dirt. There are even broken farming implements where it would seem the tenders of this land have given up their trade or succumbed to a rage. The scent of dry soil and sweet rotting plant matter fills your nostrils.

All smaller creeks and rivers are now dry, only the mighty Nayrwinn still flows, and it is generally too far from the fields to offer any water. Indeed, at some points you notice that attempts have been made to divert small canals from the Nayrwinn to the farmer's fields, but it all seems to have dried up just as it reached the where it would have been useful. The ground itself seems to be too thirsty for what water is offered.

As you walk along further East, you begin to see the small settlement of Cirumcroft. It seems to be more a collection of houses at the end of farm tracts than an actual hamlet. You see no people outside as you approach and as dusk settles in.

Just before reaching the settlement itself, you come up beside the remnants of a large, blackened building. It has obviously burned down only recently, as sooty footprints still surround it. A large steel shield lays covered in ash to one side, the image of a barrel embossed on it. It would seem lodgings may be difficult to come by tonight!

We can decide that you've been acquainted around a tavern table for the sake of expedience and decided to head to Cirucroft together, as you know bandits and the like are sometimes common in the summer on these less-traveled trade roads. The trip is a mere three days' walk from the Mirror City, where we'll assume you all ended up at some point while seeking your fortunes.

Sunset it would seem that you are missing a +1 to your will save due to a 12 Wisdom, as well as I'm interested as to how you've spent your skill points, you should have started with 36 (6 bard+2 INTx4 1st level) but I don't see that you've used them all. My the main concern there is that you would need the perform skill.. not only for super role-playing opportunities, but for your bardic abilities as well.
Other than that, it looks good. If you require assistance with skills, don't hesitate to ask.

Holg looks good... a little scary sounding but good heheh 5'1 with a STR of 19!!! Good job on the background...just vague enough for me to mess with ;)

Roland Kane seems to have shifted gears quite easily and I'm sure he'll be right at home in a dungeon or two..

Amira's character sheet is pretty well-formatted and written! (no other comments :P)

Galen looks pretty good so far, but you should only have 22 HP by my count (d10+1 con x 2)

I think Ferdinand will be a fine addition to the crew..

With that I shall begin the thread and place the link here when it is up. *goes*

Hey people

looking for a PF/3.5 D&D game in Barrie, ON for Tues/Wed any time.. I'm a DM or player with no group in town.. Have one or two dedicated players but looking to meet more.. if you're in or around Barrie, you know there's not much of a community... At least none that I've been able to dredge up.

Anyway drop me a line if you are at all interested.

Okay let's use the Pathfinder Deities... I shall familiarize myself with them in the interim.

To those who still are interested: We have four people who are pretty much done... I don't see a problem squeezing both of you in if you can get me some characters soon.

So we have a Fighter, Ranger, Wizard and a Cleric... pretty good balance there so far :D

Here's Amira so far, now I did take the Shall not pass feat that Jason added later... I'll post it so you can review it. With the Long Spear I want to be able to protect myself by preventing opponents from reaching me...or by setting the spear, impale them...

Shall Not Pass (Combat)
You can stop foes that try to move past you.
Prerequisites: Combat Reflexes.
Benefit: Whenever an enemy provokes an attack of opportunity due to moving through your adjacent squares, a successful hit causes them to stop moving for the rest of their turn. Enemies can still take the rest of their action, but cannot move.

Since I don't have expensive armor/weapons to buy (especially since my weapon is my arcane bond.) Can I take like 4 scrolls I made with scribe scroll?

Yeah the feat is okay, and yeah you can have your scrolls.

Ferdinand Salatic wrote:

Well, here's what I have so far. Just your standard cleric that adventures out of a sense of noblesse oblige.

Just checking, we are using the Pathfinder gods, right?

This was up in the air.. I think I should ask a consensus... do we want Pathfinder Deities or do we want a world with none.. just divine casters who draw their power from their faith in primal forces of good, evil, magic, nature, etc..?

Expand upon this please.

I mean to say that anything within reason is okay... I had originally meant to do this to save my players time, but it seems I have just wasted some... anyway

Take any armour, shield, weapons (maximum of five I'd say, as a ranger would likely want at least three) and equipment you like...nothing masterwork or specially made, nothing super expensive.. let's say GP limit 120... no mounts for carrying a truckload of stuff.

Again, I would encourage you to work together. As I've never done this before, feel free to submit any character info in whatever format you like.

Hi Justin,

Actually I was just making it a homebrew setting... standard magic/technology level as per DMG... was thinking of using a no-deities world, but that presents problems when the different races interact.

ANYWAY the setting is going to be generic fantasy to begin with, and I'm fleshing it out newly as we go. You're free to invent a homeland if you don't feel that your character has come from the lands surrounding Cirucroft.. it is somewhat in the middle of a large expanse of plainsland, in the northern part of the Kingdom of Lexim. Lexim is generally populated by humans, but the Mirror City of Lexim sees many travelers, and acts as a gateway to the Northland.

Any suggestions or concerns or if you need help filling out a backstory with places/names, etc.. I'm here :D

Greetings all,

This is my first stab at PbP so I'm looking for some dedicated players to say the least... this is an adventure with the possibility to become a campaign.

Looking for 3-5 1st level Pathfinder characters to head to the village of Cirucroft, a small farming community on the Nayrwinn River. There is word of an evil wizard nearby who has been causing a blight AND a drought, which has destroyed much of the crops. Brave adventurers are needed to confront this wizard at his home, which is sequestered beyond a thick patch of brush that strange creatures are said to hide out in!

Basically, make me some characters from the Beta. I want non-evil, basic races/classes only (and we will only be using material in the Beta book)

with this array, arranged as needed: 17,16,15,13,12,11. You can have all the gear you want as standard for your class (choose one melee/one ranged weapon, some armour and related gear) without calculating how much it costs.. So long as you can justify why you have it without reaching too far, it's all good.

HP we're gonna borrow one HD till we hit 2nd (so a first level fighter with a con of 14 will have 24 hp for 1st and 2nd level)

I encourage anyone interested to make intertwining backstories with other players as to why you're traveling together. A good character history is encouraged and rewarded but not necessary.

feel free to post any questions :D
