Her name is Kendra Hawkins. A name she dubbed herself, as she has no idea what her real name is, or who her parents are. She spent her first 12 years in an orphanage.
That was before her awakening. Before the flames consumed her inside, and everything else on the outside. It was in the autumn, and the air was already starting to chill. Kendra woke up screaming. Her hands were trembling as she felt an overwhelming sense of power within her. Suddenly an eruption from her hands, Flames shot out, and hit the ragged blanket that she used as a makeshift door to her room. It didn't take long.
Kendra survived. Many others did not. She was taken into custody, called an abomination. Kendra, although brash and headstrong, feared for her life. She was no demon or devil as she was being charged as.. This she knew. She wept over the thought of her lost friends... No... lost brothers and sisters in the orphanage.
As fate would have it though, a man, a brilliant and kind man mind you, happened to be lecturing at the local college that very evening. One, Professor Lorrimor. He had heard of the incident, as most of the town had witnessed the huge fiery blaze. It was not easy to miss.
After hours of questioning and threats, the authorities agreed, based on reputation of the kind professor, to let him speak to the girl. She was trembling when he entered, but took time to calm her with a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
"Child, I know from looking at you that you are confused. You are terrified, and I know you did not do this. I am going to see about having you released to me. I believe you have gifts, gifts that you cannot yet handle. I wish to help with that. It shall be a fascinating study...."
Kendra, still a little unsure, said not a word, just nodded. She didn't know this man, however she preferred him to the hateful men who brought her here.
That was 16 years ago. Professor Lorrimor called in favors, and managed to get custody of young Kendra. She grew to love the old man like a father, and even liked his daughter, Kendra.
Over the years, Professor Lorrimor helped her practice and control her powers. The Professor was fascinated not only by her magical abilities, but by her presence and her clearly unearthly aura. Karna would often accompany the Professor on his travels to lecture and study strange occurrences.
