Character sheet

Also understand, although I'll be sorry to see it go. I think it was a neat world and was my first time testing out the GURPS mechanics. I will never complain about the complexity of Pathfinder again :) Thanks again.

Character sheet

Hello. Hmm ... things have been pretty slow.

To my fellow players and gms

Take care of yourself, that's always the most important thing. Thanks for letting us know.

Character sheet

While the rest of the platoon is tending to their commander, Genie takes the UAV around for a quick look up and down the road to make sure they aren't surprised again.

Character sheet

Genie throws Dawn and Laine a quizzical look.

"Have you ever tossed something in a river and let it float? It generally gets caught in the next bend, or gets pulled into the weeds. It wouldn't get far, is what I'm saying. Spent much of my youth playing in the waters of the American River, and sent many play "ships" to the Pacific. I was lucky if they got a half mile."

Character sheet

Genie nods at Baker's comment. "I'm not too enthused to stay here long enough to deal with any more of these bastards."

She then looks off into the distance, checking the edge of her sight.

"Did anyone see where those kids ran off to? I'm curious about what the knights wanted them for. Not that they'll necessarily tell us the truth if we manage to catch them."

Character sheet

Apologies for my absence, but I was dealing with the holidays and a few minor injuries.

Character sheet

There's also the psychological element, which is what I am playing with Genie. Just because they might have been given permission to go medieaval on the enemy, doesn't mean that she thinks its right. It goes against a lifetime of conditioning to treat prisoners fairly.

Character sheet
Laine Horatio wrote:
"I think we earthhumans were just like her not that many centuries ago, we might be better today, but we were no better when we were still knights and kingsmen if we listen to the history professors." Laine says light a cigar to relax a little.

Genie takes a long pull from her cigarette, blowing the smoke out forcefully as she listens to the sniper.

"Yeah, but we have evolved, Laine, we don't act like we did in the Dark Ages. We don't crucify people, burn witches, or drain people of their blood to cure diseases anymore either. I just can't get used to this place; one moment its all wonders beyond wonders, and the next moment its this medieval b&&#***+."

Character sheet

"Whatever, Baker. Act like a human, and I'll treat you like one."

She shakes out her hand that she just slammed into the vehicle and pulls out a pack of cigarettes and furiously lights one.

Character sheet

Perception 6: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 6) = 12

Genie is too full of disgust and anger to see or hear much of anything around her. She storms up to one of the grunts, slamming her hand against the armor plating of one of the vehicles.

"Can you believe that woman? I mean, if you could even call her a woman. She's not even a human, so what do we call her? A female? I'm just completely out of my depth here."

Character sheet

Genie slowly lowers her sidearm at the suggestion of her platoon-mate. She gives Dawn a death stare, holsters her sidearm and goes outside to catch some fresh air.

"Jesus Christ, I hate this f&!$ing world" she mutters under her breath as she leaves the room.

Character sheet

Genie audibly gasps as Brona drives her sword through the knight's throat, and instinctively draws her pistol and levels it at the warrior.

"Drop the sword, lady, drop it now! I don't know how you do things in Dragonf~%~istan, but we don't execute our prisoners."

Character sheet

Genie looks around to see if there is something that could be used as an impromptu litter inside the inn to carry Jacob. If not, hearing that the knight outside had been killed, she holsters her sidearm and dashes off toward whichever vehicle would carry such an item (assuming we brought one).

mdt wrote:

Also, Scott's First Aid will take at least 10 minutes, he's got multiple wounds to deal with.

Jacob will regain 2 HP, has no bleeding issues, and is stable. However, he took a crippling wound to his arm and leg.

I'm happy to act as nurse as my First Aid isn't too bad, unless it requires a different skill, in which case I won't. Also, does my roll assist Scott in any way?

Character sheet

Once PFC Baker is finished supplying his immediate first aid with Genie's help, she grabs Jacob under the legs and helps carrying him out to the nearest vehicle. During this entire time, however, she never takes her eyes completely off the knight, terrified that he might rise again from the floor like something from a Hammer film she saw in her youth.

Character sheet
mdt wrote:
I'll assume Genie is helping Scott, since he's an actual doctor. :)

Er, yes, blame it on her Workaholic disadvantage.

Character sheet

Genie keeps her weapon trained on the knight, not trusting that he is truly out for the count. With her free hand she triggers her throat mike on her walkie.

"We need a medic in the inn, ASAP. We've got men down, repeat men down."

Still with pistol out, she then moves over to Jacob as quickly as possible to assess his wounds and do whatever she can with what few supplies are at hand.

First Aid: SL 13: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 1) = 8

Character sheet

"Jesus, don't these guys ever drop? What the hell are they made of?" Genie screams out to no one in particular.

Character sheet

Genie is distracted by her downed companions, but knows that they need to first eliminate their opponent and squeezes off a few more shots, trying her best to hide behind her cover.

3 Sig Sauer attacks: SL 12: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 3) = 11, possible hit! Hit Location: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 1) = 12, left arm

Character sheet

One more for cinematic, please.

Character sheet

Genie squeezes off three rounds in an attempt to take out the dangerous knight as quickly as possible.

I can't seem to find the rules for soft cover, so I'm not sure if that gets subtracted from my effective skill or after the attack. Attack action: 3 Sig Sauer attacks SL 12: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 4) = 12, possible hit! Hit location: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 5) = 16, foot.

Character sheet

What locations on the knight are currently being protected by cover?

Character sheet

Jesus, GURPS does not make it easy to hit.

Worried about hitting someone in such a crowded setting, Genie takes her time to aim at the enemy, keeping as much of herself hidden behind the table and wall as possible.

Aim action

Character sheet

Oops, sorry. She'll move to cover and attack. Move and attack: 12-2=10: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 3) = 15, miss.

Character sheet

Sorry, didn't realize we were back and boy howdy, are we ever!
Genie dives under a table or any other form of cover that she can find around her, putting as much strong wood between herself and the superhumanly-fast knight as possible.

She'll draw her gun on the following round.

Character sheet

Keeping her eyes on the remaining knight, Debbs slowly moves toward the children as if to help the knight collect them. As she moves behind them, she unholsters her sidearm, using their bodies to block the movement from the knight's sight. She then keeps it hidden behind their backs and her body, but makes no further movement.

Don't know if I need to roll for any of this, but if I do: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 5) = 14

Character sheet

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate it today!

Character sheet

Sorry to hear that, Skorn.

Character sheet

Perception 12-: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 3) = 8

Genie takes a look around to the room to see how many possible exit points their group might have, and how easy it might be to get the boys out safely.

How many total of us are in the room at the moment and do all of us have sidearms?

Character sheet

Dawn spends the dinner filling in the rest of her platoon on what she learned from Calia about the Ni'Bisharans and drakons being able to see into the electromagnetic spectrum.

"Seems like we will have to start looking for alternate means of communication if we know others of their kind are present, and we certainly don't want to attract these drakons, especially one of the large ones."

The engineer mulls over what their communication options are, given the equipment they are carrying.

Engineer (electronics) 11-: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 6) = 9

Character sheet

Debbs nods. "And these dragons, do they have other abilities? Do they fly or burrow in the ground, or have toxic blood like you? How are they used by the Drakon-Force? They must not be too common, or we would have encountered one so far, don't you think?"

She then clears her throat and focuses on bringing in the UAV.

"Sorry for all the questions, Calie, but it seems like for every thing we learn about this world, we discover ten more things we didn't know and that give us serious concern."

Character sheet

Debbs only grows more concerned as she continues her conversation with Calie. She tries her best to hit all her waypoints while controlling the uav, but can't get the thought of dragons out of her mind.

"Just how big do these dragons get? We have lizards and reptiles in our world that can grow pretty big, big enough to take down a single person. Do they get bigger than that?"

Character sheet

Debbs gives Calie a double-take when she mentions attracting drakons, and almost drops the control module.

"Er, what? You think the machines will attract drakons? Like big ones or little ones? We don't have drakons in our world, so that's not a problem there. How far away can you see the machines "shouting"?"

Jesus H. Christmas, if radio chatter attracts dragons, we are in some seriously deep s&%~.

Have the newbies been given any general background on drakons?

Character sheet

I've got the flu. Will be back when I don't feel like losing my lunch all the time.

Character sheet

Electronics Operation SL 12: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5) = 15
Electronics Operation SL 12: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 6) = 13
Electronics Operation SL 12: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 5) = 7
Piloting SL 12 - 2: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 1) = 5

Genie has some trouble getting the drone together, but eventually succeeds and sets it flying.

mdt wrote:
Yes, give me a roll. I'll get an update done tonight or tomorrow now that the servers are stable again *knock on wood*

Sure, but what skill would it be?

Character sheet

mdt, can I do my drone recon now?

Character sheet

Genie grabs one of the mics for the outside speakers and hands it to Calia.

"Calia, can you please translate?"

When Calia is ready, she continues.

"Please stop firing your weapons. We mean you no harm. There are people in these machines."

To prove her point, she quickly sticks her arm out of the top of the LAV and gives a friendly wave.

"Please lower your weapons and we will show you that we mean no harm. We are travelers from a distant land and are riding in horseless carriages. We have come to trade for food and lodging for the night."

Character sheet

If it's decided that we are staying at the inn, Genie will get permission from the CO to take the drone out for a spin and take a look at the surrounding countryside, just to make sure that there won't be any surprises.

Character sheet

Genie nods to Dawn. "I hadn't even thought about the possibility of combining technology and magic. Certainly something to look into."

She chuckles and scratches her head. "I just can't get my head around the fact that magic, like storybook magic is a real thing. If it works on our world, I wonder if it was ever practiced on Earth. And if it was, then why is it still not practiced?"

Character sheet

Genie nods at Calia's comment and chuckles, saying "It'll certainly be included in our final paperwork, you can be sure of that."

What is the general tech level that we have encountered so far, btw? Would it compare to 12th century Europe or more like 16th century?

She then turns to Dawn and smiles. "I always played the elf rogue with lots of skills. Guess its no surprise that I eventually became an engineer."

Character sheet

The fact that they had been sent in instead of a few battalions of armored infantry had been worrying Genie for some time. I wonder if central command has underestimated the threat posed by these people. Calia is correct that we are certainly not the elite.

Hearing the warrior speak, she chimes in with what Baker is saying. "We are not expendable. In our military, nobody is, at least that's what we are told by our commanders. There is also politics involved in the decision to send us, which always complicates things."

Character sheet

I see. I thought he was a sergeant.

Character sheet

So here's a question for those with more military knowledge than I:

Jacob David is in charge of our platoon, but I technically outrank him. How does that change our interaction? Since he's in charge I obviously follow his orders, but would our respective ranks change our personal interactions at all?

Character sheet

Debbs shows the ornate scroll to David. "Here it is, sergeant. Hopefully this will make things a bit easier for us in the future and avoid further ... shall we say, misunderstandings with the local populace."

Tag Jacob David.

Debbs will then tend to any mechanical issues the vehicles might have until the platoon is ready to depart.

Character sheet

If it's straightforward and pro-forms, we can skip it. Otherwise I'll RP.

Character sheet

Debbs raises her hand. "I'll volunteer to get the letter if someone can come along with me to who can do a bit of translating." She ponders something for a moment, then turns to Calia.

"So who can do magic? Do you think it's something I could learn, given enough time, or is there a racial element?"

Character sheet

WO Debbs thinks about what the platoon has already been through. "A letter of introduction might be worth having. We seem to be stepping on all the wrong feet lately."

Character sheet

Genie shakes her head in amazement. I would have never thought that so much power could be in one individual.

She then looks around at her companions, a wry smile crossing her face. "Are we done here, or did anyone else want to pick a fight with a demi-god?"
