Sometimes referred to in hushed whispers as “The Stormspeaker” by the denizens of Drenchport, Amerdan is a stoic man with an unsettling aura. When he was a child, still in swaddling clothes, he washed up on the craggy beaches the Tempest Cay, with no memory of who he was or how he survived the hurricane that brought him ashore. Nursed back to health by a kindly woman who lived in seclusion from the nearby city of Drenchport, Amerdan came to realize that his caretaker was, in fact, a weather witch. Named Bethesda, she said that she was the jilted lover of the Master of the Gales and claimed to have taught the man all he knew. Whether or not any of this was true always remained uncertain to Amerdan, but there was no question that Bethesda was a weather-worker of formidable skill, who used her magic to protect her cabin from the storms that ravaged Tempest Cay. She plied healing brews and protection charms to the denizens of Drenchport in exchange for that which she could not gather or hunt. Amerdan stayed by her side, waiting for the day that some friend or family would come and claim him.

But no one came.

Bethesda, feeling pity for the young boy, raised him as her own and educated him in all the druidic mysteries available to her. However, she perished from an illness that Amerdan was powerless to cure before he had even turned sixteen. After her death, Amerdan took on her office as local herbalist, fortune teller, and weather witch, trading with the citizens of Drenchport as his adoptive mother once did.

Over time, however, Amerdan grew restless. The life he spent studying the mysteries of nature now seemed empty and the tempest-wracked sea called to him. One day, an incessant northern wind appeared, blowing south towards Port Peril. Amerdan was certain that it was Bethesda’s spirit taken flight, guiding him to a greater destiny on the high seas—a destiny written in salt, blood, and gold.

He arrived in Port Peril last night, following the wind that led him to a tavern called the Formidably Maid. After a few drinks, he went down to the docks to take in a view of the sea. The last thing he remembered was a blow to the back of his head and the waves rushing up to meet him.

Appearance
Physically, Amerdan is a man of long brown, tangled hair, encrusted with sea salt and somewhat silvered despite his relative youth. He has deepset gray eyes, a full beard, and wears tattered, loose-spun robes of various blue and gray shades.
