Biography
Appearance Alphonse Zindelo is visibly young. At 17-years-old he stands at merely 5’3” and weighs but 145 lbs. He has a small, lithe frame and is usually seen with a mischievous smile on his lips. He has rather unkempt red-orange hair, striking green eyes, and a splash of freckles on his face. He generally appears a street urchin, dressing in peasants rags. Omnipresent at his side is d’Artagnan, his best friend and fox familiar with a bright orange coat to match his master’s hair.
Background born of a clan of Varisian wanderers, Alphonse saw much of Golarion in his early youth. Members of the troupe came and went as they pursued their personal passions and it wasn’t long before a wizard joined the camp. Young Zindelo was entranced by the man’s spell weaving, and his quasit familiar. The mage, a conjurer by the name of d’Baatz the Binder, saw great potential for book magic in the boy and after a conversation with his parents, took Alphonse, then 12, to Mendev with him to learn the arcane arts. He grasped the basic lessons quickly, even managing to summon his own familiar, his trusty fox, d’Artagnan, and before a few months were up d’Baatz was ready to show him a true display of power. The conjurer painstakingly drew a binding circle in chalk dust about the ground in his home in a small town not far from the World Wound, and summoned up a Hezrou to be trapped within. Frightened by the demon’s appearance despite his instructor’s assurances of his complete safety, the young apprentice scuffed the circle when skittering back and away. Free from its bonds, the demon began to battle with d’Baatz while Alphonse and his familiar fled, leaving what would eventually be a flaming pile of wreckage behind. Turning his magical studies toward people, as opposed to strange and scary otherworldly things, the boy once again became a wanderer, seeking a place to live his life to whatever end he was supposed to meet. He found bustling port towns an excellent place for a youth to survive and even thrive on scraps gifted or stolen, as well as a place where there were plenty of new faces to hone his craft on. Since hopping ships going from wharf to wharf, Alphonse earns his keep, when there is a roof over his head or a boat beneath his feet, through entertaining with a flute or minor magics while befriending whoever has enough to share. Recently he's ended up in Sandpoint, a pleasant village that he as grown quite fond of. Alphonse eagerly awaits the Swallowtail Festival.
Personality a characteristic of his youth, Alphonse is good natured to the point of being naive. He has a quick wit and a stunning intellect, but often fails to think his plans through to their most likely outcome. His easy going attitude and prolonged exposure to enchantment magics have given him a raw magnetism that makes him very easy to get along with. He is first and foremost invested in his personal well-being and happiness, but will try to help others as long as the personal risk isn’t too high. Given his past, the young arcanist is rather paranoid about summoning magic and has an acute fear of all things demonic.
