Can Paizo (or any onine gaming store) ship overseas? I live in China and have "procured" the new D&D 4e books, but I always feel guilty for not paying for what I use. Unfortunately roleplaying games have not yet become a hit in China yet and there are no gaming stores here (even in big cities like Beijing).

Looking for two more players to finish out the cast of four in a new Exalted game on www.rpol.net. The game will start with all players playing heroic mortals with heroic destinies. The story will be told in four Chronicles each taking around two to three months of real life time so players comminted to a long game are appreciated. The first Chronicle will cover the journey of the players across Creation in seach of a way to save/liberate the small town they were born in and will cover a large part of Eastern Threshold. The game will be roleplaying heavy with a large amount of talking since the Exalted combat system is somewhat complex.

The story eventually requires an Imperfect Circle of four, familiar from their prior lives in which they were a Perfect Circle, with perhaps the fifth making an enterence in the later Chronicles. This being said, the Circle cannot have any duplicate Castes and the other two players already have first "dibbs" on their desired Castes. Exaltation will be strongly influenced by roleplaying so a combat heavy character will most likely be passed over by the Twilight Caste soul floating around.

If you are interested please take a look at the games information so far and send me a character idea that you think that would fit into the game well. This is both to see if your writing style suits the rest of the players style and to see if your idea of Creation is the same as that of the game.

Side note: I am currently traveling for the next seven days in the back country of China and am not sure when internet will be available. If I do not get back to you immediately please do not be offended. The games start (making characters and such) will begin in earnest on the 25th of Feburary so there is some time to get character ideas together before sending one.

I'm considering putting together a Shadowrun PBP game with around five players, but I first want to see if anyone would be interested in the game before I dust off the books and give them a good re-read. If you are interested please leave some sort of feedback indicating so. If I get a good amount of interest I will start putting it together.

The game would incorporate some elements from both 3rd and 4th editions (taking the best from both). This will make the game a little harder, but much more satisfying in the long run I believe. If you are interested, please leave some comment about the level of you knowledge of the system so I know how many "tweaks" I can safely make without throwing my gamers for a loop.

Recruiting one more player for a Forgotten Realms D&D campaign. Requirements are as follows:

  • Knowledgeable of both the Forgotten Realms Campaign setting and the core D&D rules.
  • Able to let the DM handle all the characters dice rolls. This is to keep the story narrative, not to control the game.
  • Able to post at least once a day in normal circumstances.
  • Able to write in a clear and coherent manner.

As for the campaign itself, expect a mid-fantasy level consistent with the Forgotten Realms world. Currently the characters are located in The Great Dale region, but will most likely travel to neighboring regions. Characters will start at first level and proceed from there. The current game is already started and can be read in the Play-by-Post section, but has only been going for a week or so.

If you are interested please leave a short introduction of your expectations for the game and a character concept.

Nate thought it would be a good idea to make this thread so that current players as well as potential players can talk about what they expect out of the game, what types of rules are being played and pretty much anything else we want to keep out of the real thread so that the story keeps moving without interruptions.

Here are the things I want to keep in the game:

  • Dice rolls all handled DM side. This, I feel, keeps the game very narrative. The rules don't get in the way of the story, but still govern actions.
  • Focus of the game being on roleplaying, not fighting. Fighting is one of the weakest aspect of PbP D&D because of it's speed, while roleplaying is enhanced because you can actually describe things much more clearly, and in your own time.
  • Daily check-ins. I would like to see all players at least once a day post. This keeps the game moving and doesn't cause other players to be forced to wait more than a single day.
  • Constant formating. I don't really care what format you choose to use, but just make sure that all your posts use it and that it is easy to see what are thoughts, actions and speech.

As for the feel or theme of the game, I'm trying to go for a larger region feel. I'm planing for my campaign to stretch from The Great Dale all the way to Cormyr, and will try to attempt to make each region have it's own feel in an attempt to immerse the player more fully into the Forgotten Realms world.

Ok, that's it for the first post. Please discuss!

The midday sun beating down on Faerun wakes you from your slumber and stings your eyes as you try to open them. The fresh summer breeze does nothing to cool the warmth of the sun, but does bring the pleasant smell of trees in the height of their grandeur for the year. It feels as though you have been sleeping for hours and you are suffering from a dull pain in the back of your head. A brief feeling of the area gives no clues as to the cause of the pain. Searching the other parts of your body, you find no signs of injury. Scattered around you is all the earthy possession you took with you out of Rashemen the day you set off on your dajemma.

Glancing around, you find yourself on the side of a sizable hill. Masses of trees span out between yourself and the next small hill that blocks your view and forms a small valley. No signs of civilization on the floor of the valley can be seen in either direction. Behind you is the mouth of a cave that seems especially dark in contrast to the hot sun bearing down on you. Birds chirp cheerfully in the distance but you cannot help but sense that something is not right about this situation.

Try as hard as you might, you cannot conjure any concrete memory of what you had done recently or how you had come to be passed out in this small clearing. Trying to pinpoint any image or idea only leaves you a bit confused and bewildered. You can clearly remember leaving your home in Rashemen and heading across Lake Ashane into the lands called Ashanath on the eastern boarders of the Great Dale. You also remember traveling for many days by foot after abandoning your small keelboat. After this there is nothing but a black void in your memory with a few scraps of information floating just outside of your reach. Flittering images of a strange man with a wily beard and the mention of some type of contest are the only things that you have any sense of certainty that are part of your recent history. Concentrating on these points in your memory only send the ideas skittering back into you unconsciousness.

What do you do?

Spoiler:
This will be the only time I tell you what your character is thinking or feeling. It is part of the opening story, but I still make my apoligies. The helm is yours, sir.
