Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A mighty godling is proficient with all simple and martial weapons; with light, medium, and heavy armor; and with all shields (other than tower shields). Lineage Domain As a result of their divine bloodline, mighty godlings gain access to the powers (though not spells) of a cleric domain. The mighty godling selects his first lineage domain at 1st level, and gains additional lineage domains at 8th and 16th level. Once these domains are selected they cannot be changed. (While the player selects these domains, the mighty godling character gains these as inherent powers with no choice or effort required). Lineage domains need not be the ones the godling’s divine parent grants to clerics—not all godlings have powers related to their parent’s realm of authority. The godling uses his class level for his effective cleric level. A mighty godling uses his Wisdom modifier to determine save DCs and uses/day of all his lineage domain powers. A multiclass cleric/godling who has the same domain from both classes adds the two classes together when determining what granted powers the character has and their effectiveness, but uses only the character’s cleric level to determine what domain spells are gained. ^^^^^^^ Agile Feet (Su) As a free action, you can gain increased mobility for 1 round. For the next round, you ignore all difficult terrain and do not take any penalties for moving through it. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier. Description:
Alkelis Courtborn, Ward and Squire of House Gixx, is a tall, muscular human-looking aasimar with deep blue eyes and golden skin and hair, cut short. Though his clothing is simple in style, all of it is of high quality. As an acolyte of Abadar, Alkelis wears his simple wooden holy symbol of Abadar under his clothes. Again, the aasimar's weapons are not masterwork, but well-made. Alkelis Personality:
Alkelis was taught the fine act of courtly manners, and always endeavors to maintain a courtly manner at all times, even when insulted or interacting with people who do not have as a refined outlook. When in an angered state, Alkelis's halo manifests in a threatening manner. The aasimar can produce his halo at other times, but it is when he possesses a righteous anger, it manifests on it's own.
Alkelis is generous, but does not give handouts, but handups. As a member of the Abadaran church, the aasimar has been taught to heed any legitimate authority. Alkelis is a lover of fine foods and wine. His favorite snack is a platter of cheeses. Although the ward of House Gixx has had a few romances through his long life, none were serious. Alkelis hopes that will one day change: to meet a woman of exceptional breeding and quality, one whom both parents will approve. Alkelis's Backstory (pending DM approval):
The public story of Alkelis Courtborn begins with the Reign of Gyr in Absalom in 4660AR. As Lord Gyr, newly-appointed Primarch of Absalom, and his household was moving into their palatal manor, many onlookers noticed a small gold-skinned boy among the personage. Rumors ran high for nearly a week until Lord Gyr felt he had to address them. The new Primarch stated the boy's name was Alkelis Courtborn, and he is Lord Gyr's ward, not a blood relation, and has no claim to any future House Gixx holdings. Lord Gyr added that despite this, the young aasimar is to enjoy the full benefits of a member of House Gixx. After that pronouncement, rumors ran that somehow the young Alkelis was House Gixx's lucky charm, because much of the noble house's fortunes began shortly after taking the aasimar in. Alkelis acquired the nickname, "Golden Boy", due to his golden skin and the rumored ties to House Gixx's success. Alkelis enjoyed the lifestyle and resources of those in the noble class, learning from the best clerics of Abadar regarding court etiquette, the sciences, mathematics, law, and other teachings of Abadar, some even by Bor Dralfo, leader of the Brotherhood of Abadar, himself. When Alkelis reached late childhood, Lord Gyr sent the aasimar to The Vault of Abadar to train as an acolyte 5 days out of the week. It was under then tutelage of Jostlin Ferqy, Keeper of The Vault, that Alkelis had a real flair for languages. The aasimar was able to understand the intricacies of Draconic very quickly, along with Infernal. As part of his acolyte training, Alkelis was to perform city guard duty, and learn the ways of the crossbow. Alkelis quickly became a staple of Ivy District, befriending many of it's inhabitants, even from other temples. Less than a month ago, Alkelis came home to House Gixx after a long week at The Vault of Abadar, when the aasimar noticed the housestaff quickly leaving the manor, with smiles and purses of gold. When he entered, Alkelis was directed to meet Lord Gyr outside his library. When the aasimar met Lord Gyr, his guardian told him he paid the staff a small purse of gold to take the rest of the day off, but they had to leave immediately, and that Alkelis has a very special guest waiting for them in the library. Once Lord Gyr was sure the house was empty, both ward and guardian entered the library. Awaiting them was a shining star archon named Arkomemnon. He greeted the astonished aasimar, and told him he had a message from his mother. Arkomemnon explained to Alkelis is the product of the unique parentage: he is the son of Abadar, Master of the First vault and Olheon, Empyrean Archon Lord of Nobility and Rulership. Alkelis was shocked to say the least. The young acolyte just thought many of his amazing abilities was due to himself being an aasimar. Arkomemnon explained that Lord Gyr was tasked with the duty to help raise him, in return, through Olheon and Abadar's influence, help Gyr rise through the ranks to nobility to ultimately lead Absalom. The rumors were right about Alkelis: he really was Gyr's 'golden boy'. As soon as Alkelis was able to accept the fact that not only was he a godling, but a member of the celestial aristocracy, did Arkomemnon produce a scroll, detailing the movements and aims of a new and dangerous cult called The Cult of Unraveling. The sat archon said both Alkelis's mother and father has tasked the young godling to seek and disrupt all endeavors of The Cult of Unraveling. Two days later, Alkelis boarded a sailing vessel for points unknown. Dreams and Ambitions:
The Abadaran faith was always a huge part of his life, and with the training he received, Alkelis thought becoming a cleric of Abadar was his destiny. Little did he know that Desna and possibly Pharasma had in store for him. Now that his full story as been revealed to him, the aasimar hopes to one day stand beside his father in Axis, or his mother in Heaven.
As for how well known Alkelis's status as a godling I will leave to you. In the backstory, I have only Lord Gyr and several high-level absalomian Abadaran clerics know the truth. If you wish, you could have the church proclaim this astounding news to the masses. Please let me know either way, if chosen, so I may role-play accordingly. |
