Algret listens to the captain quietly, saddened by the old orc's death. Her eyes show the weight of the hard decisions made in recent days, and for a moment she seems very young and very tired. "I am conviced there is more to this island than we know. The hought of leaving the eople in the village to fend for them selves rends my heart, yet if what the shaman said is true, while we go there looking for survivors, what breaks free in the forest may threaten all we have brought to safty here. I say we handle the biggest threat first, the supplies will still be there after. The village survivors,....we can only pray that they can hold out if there are any."

As soon as the men lowered Vik into his bed Algret set to work scrubbing him down with the salt water. She had one of the men build a fire and set rocks within the blaze to gather heat, removing them and allowing them to cool enough to not cause harm, she packed them around the big Ulfen, wrapping him in blankets. Genuine laughter bubbles up from the depths of Algret's soul as she recieves the assault of affection. Dropping her shield she welcomes Kahir's hug as she catches up little Sabha in her other arm. Wrinkling her nose as she ruffles the boy's hair she chuckles, "You stink my little warrior. Have you been opening oysters? We have to make sure you have a bath tonight. Vik would tell you it is easier to stalk when your prey cannot smell you coming." She holds Sabha tight, reveling in the sensation as the little girl throws her arms around her neck. "Did you miss me little one? We have returned just like I promised. Shale and I missed you too. What have you been up to?" As an experiment she connects to the dall in her pack, allowing the warmth of emotion from the children to flood through the link. As she hears Vik's growl she glances over, unsurprised at his reaction to crowds or the parting sea of poeple that follows. The girl's actions however are a complete surprise. Algret's grin grows wider at Vik's dumbstruck expression. It appeared that the Orks were not the only ones that appreciated the Bold warrior.

As the group made their way toward the camp, Algret found herself walking with a lighter step. The weight of the day's events still pressed on her soul but the closer she got to their temporary home, the easier the burden became to bear. Her thoughts went to the children. 'Had Kefir gotten himself into trouble? Would Sabha keep making progress or retreat into her shell without her?' Only a day away and she already missed them. Never in her wildest dreams had she considered that her life would come to this. At least not at this age. She couldn't help but smile. Her reverie was broken as they broke through the foliage onto the beach, and instantly her eyes began combing the area for signs of the little ones.

Still it upsets her to see the Shaman wounded so, both in body and spirit. She whispers a prayer to Torag on his behalf, the blessing of the old warrior, armor dented, weapons slkightly dulled, but still fierce of heart, still brave, and deeply worthy of respect. She notes the warrior's attitudes toward herself and the other women with some amusement, and is glad to see their treatment of Milhar and especially Vik. The man with his strange "source" was a bit of a mystery, but a valuable one to have at your back, and Vik...well Vik was Vik, loyal, noble and posessed of the strongest fighting spirit she had ever seen. Too often was the big Ulfen's fierceness in battle greeted with fear and mistrust. It was good to see him around those who understood the measure of a warrior.

Taking a moment, she marvels at the doll's feeling of joy, a quick mental smile at the wondrous creature. She drops her voice, low enough that only her allies can hear. Lost in thought over the wonders of the doll, Algret is drawn from her reverie by Vik's halted sentence. 'It's never good when he stops like that.' she thinks. As the young monk slowly turns, Algret follows with her eyes, surprised at the sudden appearance of the large humanoids. Thier stealth was indeed impressive. But I am also a warrior, and they will need me in the jungle. You are a ceretaker, like me, would you look after them while I'm gone? He chose his path, and should be struck down, that his soul can be reforged into something...better. The other option is to cast him out. Algret sat by the fire, Sabah curled up in her lap and looked Kahir in the eyes. The young boy had already seen so much violence at his age, suffered so much loss. ‘His eyes are older than they should be’ she thought sadly. “I can't promise that little one, “she said as she ran a hand through his thick mop of hair, “everyone must die one day.” “But what I can promise you is that I have no intention of leaving you. I’m going to live for a very long time, and I’m going to see you two grow up strong, and wise. I promise to be careful not to let anything jump out and eat me up or anything.”, as she says the words she tweaks his nose, smiling warmly and lightening the mood. ‘No child this age should have to be so serious.’ “But you need to promise me something kær, what you did today was very brave. But it was very dangerous. If he’d used his weapon instead of his fist you might have left little Sabah without her brother,” she reaches down and stroked the little girl’s hair. “If you need to protect your sister, you do whatever you have to, but DO NOT face anyone with a weapon for any other reason. You don’t have to protect me, that’s what Vik and the others are for. I don’t want to see you putting yourself in danger again. Promise?” She spends the next half hour teaching him a Dwarven rune game in the sand, vehemently denying his claims that she is letting him win, until tiredness overcomes the boy. Picking up the little bundle in her lap she puts them both to bed in her own bedroll, prepared to make do with a makeshift sleeping mat. As the children sleep she thinks about the day, their situation, and the sheer insanity that has befallen them all. The monk, Bo-Dan seemed to understand the necessity of violent action in battle but her lover, Paera……the girl seemed to lose it every time someone got killed. Death was never welcome or pleasant, and Algret didn’t relish killing. Despite what she’d said she killing that man today hadn’t made her happy, it was simply a necessity. Weary of spirit she closed her eyes, sinking her fingers into the earth. She let her thoughts and prayers meet with the earth beneath her, sending her words to Torag. Time lost meaning and for what could have been anywhere from an hour to a year she communed with her God. In a rush she felt his touch, easing her worry, strengthening her resolve and… giving her something more. She felt…greater. As if a part of her had grown. Light of heart she removed her armor and weapons, looking for Vik before she settled in. He stalked over towards them, smiling as he saw the children, calling her "den mother." She lokked up at him. As well as he hid it she saw the sadness that flickered across his face and touched his heart. 'If only your soul were as tough as your hide',she thought. She sat with him quietly for a while, neither speaking, glad for the rare moment of peacefulness. She remembered what she wanted to tell him before the attack. "Earlier today, before the battle, we were being watched. Humans I think, grey skin, dressed primitavely. I saw them, but what is even strange is that little Sabah saw them before I did. She saw what none of us did."

Algret watches the bolt strike and turns to Kahir reaching down to help the child up from the ground. "Are you alright my little warrior?" she asks, a smile masking her worry.
