Background:
Akrem was born and raised in Sandpoint, the son of Garridan Viskalai, owner of The White Deer Inn. His father has been trying to teach him about running a business, but unfortunately for Garridan, Akrem does not seem interested. He has a case of wanderlust, and a growing one at that.
Having recently graduated from the Turandarok Academy with high marks, Akrem is still fairly close to Headmaster Gandethus, and looks up to the man as a role model, especially when he tells stories of adventures past. Gandethus recognizes potential in Akrem, and has told him on many occasions to listen closely to his father and uncle, as both have much they can teach him.
His father taught him much about the Shriikirri Quah (Hawk Clan) of the Shoanti people. Akred learned to shoot a bow, move quietly, to respect the animals around them, and how to survive on his own, all in a short time. The lessons he has learned from his father only increased the wanderlust his young mind felt.
As he neared his eighteenth birthday, he hoped that ‘Uncle Belor’ would accept him into the town guard, and give him some experience before he tried to go out on his own. Garridan disapproved of his son spending any time with a man who would so completely turn his back on his heritage, but Garridan and Belor both agree that Akrem would need more physical training before becoming a guard or travelling.
The pair of men took Akrem hunting, not for sport, but for goblins, one of the primary concerns of travelling caravans in Varisia. After making his first kill, his father and uncle were quick to explain the finer points of goblin anatomy to the boy, hoping it would come in handy. While they may be at odds with each other, they both want the best for Akrem and put aside their differences for him.
Personality:
Like most young men his age, Akrem is a bit rebellious of his father, and occasionally gets in trouble, but for the most part, he does as he is told. He has a good head on his shoulders and did well in school. Also like most young men his age, thinks he knows more than he really does, though he won’t be quick to admit it. He is brash and ready to lend a hand where one is needed.
Physical Description:
At 18 years of age, Akrem stands just over 5’9” and weighs in at 145 lbs. His brown hair is cropped short, keeping his father from chastising him too much about how ‘real Shoanti men’ shave their heads, but still allowing him to be a bit rebellious. His eyes are a pale blue, and his skin is darkly tanned from spending almost every chance he can get outside the city gates, enjoying the sun. While his face is now mostly clear, he does have a few scars on his cheek from particularly bad acne.
Akrem normal attire is a green tunic with brown breeches and a pair of leather boots. He wears a leather armor studded with bits of metal that have been dulled so as not glint in the sunlight, and he carries a green hooded cloak for when the weather is cold or rainy.
