About Akosa Fola

Fun facts about the African naming scheme of his people: Fola means honor, peace, and well-being. Akosa means sacred thing, or one who serves. Atsu means male twin.

Racial Features:

As half elf with one major exception.

Kindred-Raised: While most think of people with one human and one elven parent when they think of half-elves, some half-elves are raised by two half-elven parents. Such half-elves feel less like outsiders, making them more confident, but less adaptable without the exposure to a human parent. They gain a +2 bonus to Charisma and one other ability score of their choice. This racial trait replaces the half-elf’s usual racial ability score modifiers, as well as adaptability, elven immunities, keen senses, and multitalented.

Summoner favored class bonus for half-elves: Add +1/4 to the eidolon’s evolution pool.

SPECIAL ABILITIES

Link, Share Spells

Link (Ex): A summoner and his eidolon share a mental link that allows for communication across any distance (as long as they are on the same plane). This communication is a free action, allowing the summoner to give orders to his eidolon at any time. In addition, magic items interfere with the summoner’s connection to his eidolon. As a result, the summoner and his eidolon share magic item slots. For example, if the summoner is wearing a ring, his eidolon can wear no more than one ring. In case of a conflict, the items worn by the summoner remain active, and those used by the eidolon become dormant. The eidolon must possess the appropriate appendages to use a magic item.

Share Spells (Ex): The summoner can cast a spell with a target of “you” on his eidolon (as a spell with a range of touch) instead of on himself. A summoner can cast spells on his eidolon even if the spells normally do not affect creatures of the eidolon’s type (outsider). Spells cast in this way must come from the summoner spell list. This ability does not allow the eidolon to share abilities that are not spells, even if they function like spells.

Biped

Starting Statistics: Size Medium; Speed 30 ft.; AC +2 natural armor; Saves Fort (good), Ref (poor), Will (good); Attack 2 claws (1d4); Ability Scores Str 16, Dex 12, Con 13, Int 7, Wis 10, Cha 11.

Twinned

Just like a summoner, a twinned eidolon learns to use weapons and magic. While twinned eidolons are ethically more flexible than most eidolons, they are quite adamant about being treated as equals and not as servants. They demonstrate an eerie consistency with the summoner’s manner of thinking, providing similar answers to questions and reacting similarly to startling events. This subtype is restricted to twinned summoners.

Alignment: Any.

Base Form(s): Biped (limbs [arms], limbs [legs]).

Base Evolutions: A twinned eidolon gains the weapon training evolution. The twinned eidolon also gains the skilled (Disguise) evolution. The racial bonus provided by this evolution is doubled when the eidolon is impersonating the twinned summoner.

Spells:

Cantrips [DC13]: Message, Daze, Guidance, Mending

1st Level 3/day [DC14]: Mage Armor, Rejuvenate Eidolon (Lesser)

Traits:

Buccaneer’s Blood: One of your ancestors was an infamous pirate captain, whose very name struck fear in the hearts of those who sailed the seas in search of an honest living. Piracy is in your blood, and you’ve always longed to follow in your forebear’s footsteps and plunder the shipping lanes.

You went to a notorious pirate hangout tavern, eager to start your career as a buccaneer. While you were there, however, a dashing and flirtatious corsair caught your eye, and after a whirlwind night of booze and romance, you found yourself beaten senseless and stuffed in a sack, carried off to who knows where.

Benefit You gain a +1 trait bonus on Intimidate and Profession (sailor) checks. In addition, you gain a one-time +1 trait bonus to your Disrepute and Infamy scores.

Akosa actually has a pirate ancestor. An elf who escaped slavery and led a long pirating career against the slave trade. He was known for his "balance" in an entirely different manner. He was Antonin of the twin blessed blades. Another meaning that might see change in the coming years.

Honeyed Tongue: You are quite capable of bringing peace to rival groups.

Benefit: You gain a +1 trait bonus on Diplomacy checks, and Diplomacy becomes a class skill for you.

Convincing Liar: You’ve spent your life perfecting the art of half-truths in order to accomplish what you need to.

Benefit: You gain a +1 trait bonus on Bluff or Intimidate checks and one of these skills (your choice) is a class skill for you.

Feats:

Extra Evolution: Your eidolon has more evolutions.

Prerequisites: Eidolon class feature.

Benefit: Your eidolon’s evolution pool increases by 1.

Special: This evolution* can be taken once at 1st level, and again at 5th, 10th, 15th, and 20th.

One set of clothing is worn by Atsu and does not contribute to his own weight.

PP, 1 GP, 18 SP, 20 CP

Current Weight = 10 1/2 lbs.

[Light = 33 lbs. or less.] [Medium = 34 – 66 lbs.] [Heavy =67 – 100 lbs.]

Weight Notes: He typically carries anything Atsu isn't wearing. Though the eidolon will occasionally demand an item (Which is handed over without question.) from Akosa, they both understand why it is more pragmatic to let the less impulsive and more permanent pair of the two hold items on this plane.

Background:

Akosa had been the subject of some kind of bad joke. He had to have been. From the day he was born he was considered gifted, a blessing, and it was even in his damned name. Not because of his own talent, but because twins were seen as lucky. Not that his mother had given birth to twins. She had given birth to him! His quarrelsome brother had merely appeared next to him shortly after birth, butting in on any chance he had to enjoy being an only child!

As it was the village had looked into the nature of his nefarious doppelganger. The ultimate conclusion was that Atsu (His parents did have a twisted sense of humor.) was nothing more than an eidolon. A manifestation of some arcane connection Akosa had. As if Akosa ever asked for a sibling. No, Atsu wasn't wanted, he just was. He was an open antagonist as well. Being difficult, not simply doing as Akosa ordered him, and even having the absolute gall to insist he was the older sibling! He hadn't even been born properly! Let alone first.

But there were some begrudging benefits to having a twin. A twin he could modify as they grew. After all, Atsu didn't grow as Akosa did. No, he had to be dismissed and then brought back, and he always did so as a twin. Akosa had tried to change that particular aspect to no avail. But he could imbue Atsu with strength and skills. Strength that made it easy to hand off heavy burdens. Skills that complimented his own. Sometimes they even enjoyed each other's company. It was rather disturbing to both of them.

He had to admit though, he likely wouldn't have gotten where he was in life without his "brother". He was raised as most half elves were in his tribe. To be a diplomat. To speak on behalf of full elves of the Ekujae. As if he wasn't half of his parent's children (At least in their opinion.) he was also half an elf metaphorically and literally. His brother had been his other half, and when he needed to be more aggressive or even violent Atsu was there to step up. Sometimes his brother even filled his shoes, deceiving others into thinking Akosa was far more capable than he was.

This made him look better, and part of the ruse was no one knowing he had a brother. Akosa would have preferred they keep up that act forever. Of course, some things they could not share. Such as partners. Not that they hadn't tried, but while they were good at pretending to be the other there were limits. So they had agreed to only approach potential partners (They had eerily similar taste.) honestly, and let them choose. Though their had been one or two who had tried to choose them both, most often this was a point in one of the twins favor. Akosa currently held the lead, those Atsu insisted he was the proper leader.

Description:

Both half elves are an even six feet tall with a somewhat lithe physique. Both have soft, brown, shoulder length hair. Despite this seeming softness both have sharp, dark pupils that are devoid of color. That and their soft brown skin, the color of powdered cocoa, give them a base look they wear in entirely different fashions.

Akosa appears thoughtful, relaxed, and well in control of himself. He is quick to smile, and each smile is measured. Like a perfectly balanced cup on hot cocoa on a cold day, or a cold coffee with milk on a hot one. He moves slowly and softly, as if moving in some way that politely asks for approval. One would never feel intimidated by him, as even his posture was welcoming.

Atsu though, was unreadable and unknowable. Some part of his alien nature and the look of his mixed heritage combining to make him unnerve. Strong and deliberate in how he moved, Atsu was not hesitant to move into the space of others. In fact, his movements were an open challenge. He had gotten into more than a few fights just by his very nature seeming to agitate those who were threatened by him.

The unnerving thing about both of them, was just how good they were at pretending to be each other!

Progression and Party Role:

This is my first time playing summoner, and so I am keeping things less elaborate. The pair of them will focus on teamwork and support both in and out of combat. While neither will have the proficiency of a warrior, it is remarkable what two competent bodies can do when working together to balance out a fight.

Literally a force multiplier. A twofer.

While Atsu is the more provocative of the two he does defer more to Akosa's approach of cooperation and support. Not selflessly, for the most part. Also, the somewhat twisted nature of their relationship (Like brothers at odds...) means Akosa will be taking spells and potentially talents that cause the enemy to focus on Atsu. While Atsu will often force Akosa out of his own comfort zone and into combat.
