Hey guys, I've had some people I know pass on this last week. I'll be unavailable for a few days, please bot me in the meantime.

Kazuma had no skill for stealth, and little stomach for it, but kenned well the necessity of such an action. Though he longed to leap into battle, he held his blade...for now.

I think the Aid Another will be most helpful

"Then let us go. They've already proven they have no honor, so if any of you are skilled in spotting coward's traps, perhaps you should lead the way. I will be close behind."

Kazuma narrows his eyes.
"We must be cautious on our approach."

Akodo will take the wakizashi and bow.
"We will see to this, my lord. We will return with news of our victory and the justice we will visit on the perpetrators."

Akodo will then follow the others.

"I am similarly uninjured. If the lord has information for us, let us get it, then be swiftly on our way."

Kazuma's muscles screamed mutinously at him, seeming to beg for the man to collapse in exhaustion. If he were another man, he might have given in.

But he was who he was. He was a Lion, descended from one of the Kami. He carried the name of Akodo and Kazuma had no doubt that that pride, that that name, had given him the strength he had needed.

Kazuma brushed some soot from his armor.

"Junburo-sama, I trust you are well? And that, perhaps, you might know who is behind this heinous attack?"

In the haze of confusion, Kazuma could not tell how long he had. Instead, he simply did what he knew he must; he hurried to move the wood, with Hirashi's assistance.

Akodo Kazuma felt honor and duty warring within him. One thought, however, stood out in his mind; he was responsible for the presence of one of these people, and not the other.

Akodo rushed over go the man that he had sent to this place, and, muscles straining, lifted the rubble off of him.
"Come! Help me with the other!"

Hoping the man would assist him, he rushed over to the Lord, hoping he would be in time.

Can I get the man I rescued to aid another?

Akodo rushed into the manor, hoping to save who he could or bring justice to those that perpetrated this act.

Kazuma blinked. How had this happened? Who was responsible?

He shook his head. No time for that.

"Their horses! We must get back to town!"

Not waiting to see if they followed him, Kazuma swung himself up on one of the animals, setting off for the mansion.

Swim: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

Akodo kept his head above water, ready to help the others if needed.
"We must get back to the manor! Something has happened!"

Gotcha, Crayfish, then Kazuma's blade is still out; stupid feat tax!

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 - 5 ⇒ (13) + 9 - 5 = 17

His armor is heavy, but Akodo Kazuma is strong and agile, making the leap to the boat with no trouble.

Our perception checks are indeed garbage! In most games I've run or played in we generally allow Quick Draw to also apply to sheathing but RAW, you are quite correct. GM, are you good with house ruling Quick Draw to work with sheathing as well (or at least bump it to a swift rather than a move action)? Also, I feel like we might be entitled to new perception checks...if that's the case...

Initiative: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22

Since at least I will be going before them, I will post my action first. Ideally, I can move to a position with two of them in my reach, avoiding AoO's.

At the tensing of their arms, any hesitation was gone. Akodo moved, flowing like water, making his way to the men arrayed against him. Akodo easily moved in between two of the archers, his blade still in the scabbard. He dropped low, tensing for a moment and summoning for his strength before his blade flashed not once but twice, striking against the enemies around him before returning to it's sheathe. Akodo remained still, ready to react and twist out of the way of his remaining enemies' arrows.

Attack (Power Attack, Tidal Blade, Fight Defensively): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22 (should be vs.Flat Footed), targeting both opponents withing reach.

Damage: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14

Current AC: 22
If they're still alive I'll hit them with my Armiger's Mark.

Heh. I was also under the impression we were on the bank.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Kazuma's nostrils flare. How dare these peasants!

"You would dare threaten Samurai in service to Kitsu Moro? Kono yarou!"

It is clear to Kazuma that they will not be avoiding combat. His stance shifts almost imperceptibly.

"You will apologize for that insult, or by my ancestor Akodo One-Eye I will call for you to meet my challenge."

Akodo Kazuma strides towards the men confidently, left hand on his saya. Though he seems an easy target, he is centered, poised and ready to react at the slightest hint of an attack.

Shift into stance; Ready the Draw. Just in case, I will be going Total Defense- AC 24. Still giving them a chance to back down; Kazuma doesn't randomly cut down people.

Akodo says nothing, but those skilled in battle would notice his weight and stance shift ever so slightly as the warrior readied himself.

"Yes. It seems the fortunes smile on us. Shall we be underway?"

Kazuma noted the man, considering his words.
"It would be...uncouth for me to order you to do such a thing. You understand, of course, that a man in my station must always act with honor. Of course, knowing the habits of a man like Lord Junburo could be very useful indeed. Should you find yourself on a walk this evening, and happen across any information, I would not turn it away. As long as discretion can be had, I think we might all be able to benefit from this."

Akodo nods, then bows to the peasants.
"Your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated. Your dedication to your duty is commendable, and that shall not be forgotten. I am ready to leave at any time."

Despite his disdain for the Crane, a ghost of a smile tugged at Kazuma's lips. She was respectful, and behaved appropriately to the heinin.

"Arigato, Kakita-san. That is high praise indeed. I would rather we did not have occasion to battle, but peace is not always possible."

Akodo turned to the peasants who spoke. Like Atsuko, Akodo passed on the meager fare.
"You speak of pirates. What has happened, and where may these men be found?"

Kazuma smiled kindly, nodding at Keisuke.
"That is rather admirable. It is always refreshing to meet faithful Rokugani ready to do their duty. Some might say that the governor of this province would be reticent in that regard. Having just met the man, I could not offer my opinion on the matter. I can tell you that I would be grateful of some assistance, and perhaps the Kami have directed our meeting. Perhaps the problem you speak of is the very same one I have been sent to rectify."

It is me! But I didn't realize you were talking to me so ignore my precious pot and use this one instead:

Akodo makes his way over to the gathered Samurai, bowing when addressed. Upon hearing the name Kakita, he has the urge to stiffen, but ignores it.
"Well met to you, Kakita-sama. I am called Akodo Kazuma. I do not serve the governor of this village but am here by the request of Kitsu Moro to ensure that the village's productivity does not falter. What brings you here?"

Akodo bowed dutifully, and left. Upon leaving the mansion, he will not go immediately to his dwelling, but approach the four people near the sign.

"Greetings, to you all. Have you business in this town?"

Akodo Kazuma kept his temper in check. This fop was a disgrace of a samurai, but bushido demanded he offer the Doji governor the respect due his position.
"Arigato, Doji-sama," Kazuma said, bowing appropriately. "I will look into this matter. If one of your servants would be kind enough to provide directions to the head farmer, I will be on my way."

Back from finals! Posts imminent!

Guys, I'm MIA til Monday. Finals.

Kazuma, with an effort, stifled his disdain for the Crane. He was, after all, here on official business...it would not do to let his emotions get in the way of that. His duty as a samurai came before his own grudges.

"Would that I came here, my lord, for pleasure. As it happens, this unworthy samurai is here on the business of Kitsu-sama. There has been an issue with a rice shortage here, from what I have been told. Kitsu-sama has assured me that your august personage, my lord, is investigating the matter, and I have no doubts as to how seriously you must be taking this. Kitsu-sama respects my skill with a blade, and so has sent me to...assist in this matter, to ensure that any problems are dealt with swiftly. I am at your service in this matter."

Kazuma produced the document from Kitsu, empowering him to act in regards to this issue.

"I am, I admit somewhat in the dark as to why this has happened. Can you illuminate the matter for me, my lord?"

Akodo Kazuma gratefully accepted the fine mount, and made his way to the village. Akodo spoke with Azama pleasantly along the way.

Once he arrived, Akodo made for the manor of the Lord, presenting himself to announce his purpose.

Akodo Kazuma bowed, accepting the scroll.
"As you command, Kitsu-sama."

Akodo left Kitsu's presence and immediately made arrangements for travel, readying his equipment and centering himself.

Now was a chance to prove his worth and rise above his station.
He would not fail.

As was custom, Akodo Kazuma bowed deeply, kneeling, head nearly touching the ground, proffering his katana. He spoke in a loud, clear voice.
"Kitsu-sama!"
He was, of course, saying that his blade and his life were hers. Once she acknowledged him, he relaxed slightly, leaving the sword on his right, which would be his weaker drawing side, indicating his trust.
"I thank you for this invitation, Kitsu-sama. I am at your service."

I'm still working on appearance.

I know Lion get the proficiency for free but I just like the Bushi template, so I went ahead and used it, along with Zweihander Sentinel for Warder (because of that sexy Scarlet Throne, yasssss). Anyway, here's Akodo Kazuma. I was intentionally a bit vague with the specifics of the setting (names/dates/places and such) because I'm unsure what period we are in for Rokugan (busy days so I've only read the Campaign Info and I didn't see that data there).
