About Akkuya Steelhammer

Appearance:
Akkuya is tall for a human, much to his detriment growing up. His muscles are hardened by years of working tunnel duty with his friends and family. To emphasize his differences from the dwarves he grew up around he keeps a short beard, trimmed to his face while letting his hair grow out in neat straight lines kept out of his face with a headband. Akkuya wears clothing that is scratchy and coarse, typically of cheaper cloths, though his equipment is well taken care of, especially Demise, the blade gifted him by his family.

Background:
Born in Highhelm to travelling parents Akkuya was orphaned at a young age due to the predations of orcs local to the area. Lucky for him a travelling merchant and his family took the boy in, brought him to Borogrim's court, and started teaching him to be the best dwarf he could be. Years of study followed, the young human learning all he could about politics, talking with others, and the proud dwarven heritage that he was not born into, but is still a part of.

When he was just coming of age, for a human, he decided to help fight the orcs, oozes, and other monsters that infest the hills and caverns around his home. He learned to fight with a sword because of his longer reach, and quickly picked up an axe with respect to the family that took him in. He learned to watch and study his opponents, though his hot-headedness and pride got him into trouble more often than not. He soon picked up lock-picking and trap-finding as Kobolds made their presence known in the underground as well, giving himself and his comrades ample opportunity to push the scaly invaders out of hearth and home once more.
