-Gain the Dragonmark of your house. It is initially the Least Dragonmark
-Add all sorcerer spells that are spell-like abilities of the least, lesser and greater dragonmarks of your house to your "Known Sorcerer Spell List". Naturally you cannot cast a spell until you are high enough level.
-When you can cast the first spell from the Lesser Dragonmark spell list, it changes to the Lesser Dragonmark. It changes again when you start casting Greater Dragonmark spells.
Spell Thematics (Fire) (PGF p44)
-Your spells have a visual theme, such as ‘sphere’ or ‘lightning’. Spells you cast have special effects based on your theme, such as Summon Monster I manifesting as the creature springing from a thrown sphere.
1. Since your spells look different, Spellcraft checks to identify what spell you are casting are at +4 DC.

Akallabeth is Tall, Lean, Muscular and "Devilishly" good looking. He has shoulder-length black hair and a neatly trimmed goatee.
He normally dresses like a bad Detective cliche'-Long, black leather Coat, Black boots, Black wide-brimmed hat. (Think 'Van Helsing' the movie)
He ALWAYS carries a magic longsword,(The pommel shows the symbol of House Deneith) tho it is obvious that he doesn't use it very well. This is his mentor's weapon, and he will carry it until he has avenged his mentor's death at the hands of a Vampire Commander, and whomever it was that betrayed them.
When working, he almost always carries his staff, daggers & crossbow as well.

Akallabeth is cynical & untrusting, (but not stupid), and always has a quick quip, jibe, or casual insult. This is a reflection of his inner turmoil, and how he 'deals' with coming to grips with his new found abilities. Part of this comes from the fact that he is afraid he might hurt someone with his not-quite under control powers. But no matter how badly he treats people, his new-found Charisma keeps attracting people to him. This causes him more fear & frustration.
SO-he ends up coming across as an short-tempered, smart-@$$, who doesn't care about anyone or thing, but only uses people for his own ends.
BUT-he is actually afraid of what he or his powers might do to others, and is trying to protect others by not getting too close to anyone.
ALSO- His familiar was destroyed by the undead, and he still feels that pain. He has vowed never to summon another. But because of his new powers, he has become adept at summoning creatures to fight for him. Especially evil ones. So he uses them as he would ammo for his bow. Oddly, he has little problem with that.

Background (Enjoy the novel!)

"Akallabeth" was an orphan, raised by foster parents until he was old enough to be given, (Some say sold) to House Deneith. From there he was raised by a man (Commander Mitchell "Target" d'Deneith) who was extremely firm, but fair. This man became his mentor & father-figure as well as his commanding Officer.

He chose the name of "Ben Steelshard" and was trained as a fighter, but he was also a Wizard specializing in using his spells to support his team. The day before the "Mourning", his squad was given a special mission. A strike at the heart of the Karnathian command structure. Success would almost guarantee the end of the Long War. It was, of course, a trap.

They were ambushed by scores of undead. The commander ordered his troops to flee while he held them off. To a man they refused to leave him. To a man they died. Weakened past the point of death by the draining touches of the undead, "Ben" watched as the Vampire Commander killed & fed on Mitchell, all the while bragging that Mitchell (specifically) had been betrayed by one of thier own.

The Vampire Commander left, and the mindless undead began to feed,...and then the Mourning.
Shadows of Light, Burning Bright Darkness, Pleasureable Pain, "Ben" could never describe what it was, or how it felt. But someone, or someTHING protected him. He awoke the next day and stumbled out of the Mournland. The undead had drained him of all his life, his skills, and his abilities. But he was re-born anew with a body young & strong, and a voice & face that could 'charm the birds from the trees'.

At first he was just glad to discover he was alive, and that he had NOT joined the undead that he thought had killed him. Then his connection to the forces of magic returned, not as strong as before, but effortlessly by sheer force of will. Then the itching between his shoulder blades heralded the appearance of his Dragonmark, the 'Mark of Sentinel' of House Deneith. This supported his unproven theory that Commander Mitchell had actually been his real father, and that he was a D'Deneith, not an orphan.

Then the nightmares began.
Not nightmares of what had happened to him that fateful night. Those he had been expecting, and prepared for. No, these were dreams of him commiting evil acts of destruction and murder.
And enjoying it.

Then his spells began manifesting as burning flames, despite all his attempts to control it.
Before long he had frightened away or intimidated all of his (remaining) friends, Lost his position in the House Deneith hierarchy, and been accused (Falsely) of being the traitor who led his team into the trap, because he had survived. Without evidence they could not punish him, but his life was made miserable.

Finally he 'dissapeared'. He left the House Deneith compound where he lived with his few remaining possesions, Started calling himself 'Akallabeth', and started a small business as a 'Freelance Mystical Inquisitive'. Unfortunately, business hasn't been good.

As 'Ben Steelshard' he has registered his Dragonmark, as befits a loyal soldier of House Deneith. But so far no one has connected 'Ben' with Akallabeth, and no one knows that Akallabeth bears a Dragonmark. He is tracking down, slowly, the person(s) who might have betrayed his mentor. But his first goal is to find , locate, & destroy the vampire that killed his mentor. He is afraid of his new powers. and of who gave them to him, and why. But he is determined to master them. and to use his powers to destroy evil, no matter what the beings who may have granted them to him might say.

Statements of Refresh & Intent-

Intent- He wants to find the Vampire Commander that killed his mentor, and also the person (or persons) responsible for his mentor's betrayal, and kill them with his mentor's sword.
(This is sort of 2, Vampire first, if I can find the others, great!)
Refresh- To destroy Evil wherever he finds it. BUT he holds a special place in his heart, (and in Hades) for the UNdead, and will always seek to engage them first in any encounter.
