About Aja Tareen
Aja was born on a distant world, on the other side of the asteroid agglomeration, named Tau. It was a large planet, which lay close to the elemental boundary and thus was strongly touched by the elements.
Aja was born firesoul and thus raised to the academy of Arcano-sciences when he was of the age. he learned the tech and was taught to weild the energies of creation, the breath of the cosmos. He practiced his forms, with his carbon blade and wrote his studies on sheets of graphene, as all his fellows did.
In many ways Aja was unremarkable among the Tau but one way he did deviate form the norm, from the path of the Tau, was in his love for Efthimia Polyhimnia, the daughter of a high-caste watersoul family. She was a dreamsinger of the Great Temple, considered to be quite gifted. Aja was not content to simply stare at her from the community chorus he wanted only to know her and with luck to love her.
When he learned that she would be departing Tau aboard the shiftship Imperial Summons he enrolled as an engineering technician. The ship departed on it's escape curve, never to see Tau again. Aja busied himself with his duties as an engineer focusing and refining the elemental energies that allowed the ship to function and propel itself through and between space, but more than that he visited the lesser Temple, where Efthimia served the altar.
He was able to catch her eye and after a gift of poetry, inscribed on a panel of a fractal meta-material that did not yet have a name she agreed to meet with him privately. He expressed his devotion to her so compellingly that she agreed to accept him as a suitor, something that could never have occurred on Tau, as their castes were in direct opposition. What followed was a blissful time for Aja. The void was inimical to the firesouled, cold and airless it deprived them of everything they needed for life, but it granted Aja the one thing he needed for happiness, Efthimia.
When the Imperial Summons finally began it's approach vector everything seemed well, final landing and combat drills were being conducted flawlessly. The officers and combat leaders were already congratulating themselves on their impending victory when the ship struck something while in exotic orbit. The ship began to vector beyond control, unable to regain it's proper course and orientation. It struck the atmosphere at a catastrophic angle and skipped across the planet's gas layer like a stone across an incredibly frictional pond.
The ship burned and plummeted into the atmosphere. When the crash happened Aja was in the engine compartment and Efthimia was in the lesser Temple, preparing for arrival. He tried desperately to reach her the compartments began to seal themselves ans he was unable to make it to her. When the ship began to break up his compartment tore itself lose and fell to the earth in a blazing wreckage.
